(@Quartz;Naomi;Asagi) Irvine: It's sorta elite education, and if one tries over time but fails, they're rejected since they ain't cut for the job. Furthermore, orphans and children of military and of folks in power are taken in at 5 so they can be mentally molded into perfect soldiers. Not killing machines, no - also taught stuff like what Dr. Murphy mentioned. Not to hurt civvies, administer first aid even to unrelated folks if possible and so on. Also Guardian Forces and Para-Magic, which take time to learn and use properly. But the Commander is planning to revise the system soon actually, or at least bring up the question.
(@Claire) Irvine: Oh. So there's a set of rules to which everyone on your planet has to abide. We have something to learn from you. Maybe it's because we don't have such a thing it's almost always a war somewhere 'round our parts.
Naomi: Oh. So it's more like a weird sort of military academy.
-she still sort of looks like she disapproves of the 'perfect soldier' thing-
-though saying that has certainly attracted Six's attention-
Naomi: -to Claire- ...oh no. The Big One?

"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."(@Quartz) Irvine: Home? Where are you from, by the way? Those scales and feathers - Commander might like 'em. Reminds of his GF.
(@Naomi) Irvine: It's exactly what Gardens are, yes.
(@Claire) Irvine: ... So ballistic weaponry is widespread at your world. I see. Then such rules are really needed, no doubt. It can get ugly fast without them.
(@Asagi) Irvine: Well, you'll be treated with respect, since technically while signed up for job you're no different from high-ranked SeeD ops. Most funny stuff will be overlooked, but please behave yourself nonetheless. Especially when meeting the Commander. He gets irritated quite easily. ... After Selphie comes to report, his forehead is usually tinted red.

Quartz (@Irvine): Why decide in starting so young?
