Speaking as an autistic person, the very idea of a "cure" of any sort is as offensive as fuck. Its like trying to "cure" sexuality or race. Just fuck that shit.
Plus it being the root cause of supervillainy. I don't even have the words...
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."That’s sounds like an older origin anyway from a less understanding time.
Manta’s current origin is a cycle of revenge where he accidentally killed Arthur’s father thus causing Arthur to try to kill him but he instead accidentally killed Manta’s own father thus kickstarting a war between the two that will never end.
Also Manta’s suit came from him & his father being pirates.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Honestly, I don't see how Black Manta having autism adds anything to his character (at least in a positive manner). Based on what little I know about him, he's a modern day pirate with a power suit that hates Aquaman for various reasons (whether it be him killing his father or maybe just pure greed for Atlantis treasure). He doesn't need autism to be the driving force behind his villainy.
The first wave of Aquaman reviews are in and the movie is at 78 percent on Rotten Tomatoes
.
Lots of praise for the acting (people really love Momoa), visuals and action, but there seems to be a lot of criticism for the plot being run of the mill and some of the dialogue being really corny. But overall solid reviews.

It's kind of amazing we live in a world in which an Aquaman movie was better recieved and will likely do better in the box office than a Justice League movie and a movie featuring Batman figthing Superman.
...
So have we finally seen an end to the Aquaman is lame jokes that have plagued the character for years?
Honestly, even now, I still have doubts. People will not let go of Memes if possible.
One Strip! One Strip! The joke long ago evolved into "My powers are stupid, they said...," and this movie will likely help things swing more in that direction.
Of course, I will be amused when the conversation eventually starts spinning around to "Well this movie is good, but the DCEU still sucks" that happened in the Wonder Woman thread. That is already the stock headline of half the articles on Aquaman.
Oddly enough, the reported mild criticisms of the film it actually makes me more excited to see it. The fact it is hovering in the 75-80 RT range for a high profile blockbuster has become an indication of a movie that takes a few chances, compared to the 90 range that has become synonymous with "largely inoffensive."
MJ: I disagree, if anything it seen to held firmly in the "samemy movie as always" so I dont hold by breath for it.
Swan: maybe but it make reaaaaaally hard to actually make a thread to talk about the movie without saying "the universe SUCK!" every now and them, it kinda poison the whole thing.
