"Just some clothes," She said with a grin. Vicky looked over to the spreading TALOS agents and waved her arms. "Over here, guys! If anyone of you could locate a glowing purple girl, that'd be fantastic, she has my stuff or at least knows where it is."

As the doppelganger turned, the air began to tense with pressure as Operator held his double at gunpoint, clicking it as the mag unloads, hitting the ground. He then lower the same hand, grabbing a spare mag from behind, tossing it, and as it drops, he causes the mag to load into the gun. As he cocks it, Operator leers at the machine, his left red eye glowing to match his double's two cherry optics. He keeps his pistol level at the android, pacing quietly around the latter, eyes trained firmly. Seems like they were going to do the same song and dance again, based on the way he's walking.

"So." Operator replied his voice sounding more oddly layered. "How's dumpster diving life treating you?"

(If a music track were to be playing right now, it would sound something like this.)

The Prototype killer android regarded is bionic template for a moment. The truth was that the gas tank explosion had damaged it, but not enough to incapacitate it; mostly it just burnt off its clothing. And left it smelling of fried bacon.

Whether it understood Operator's humor was hard to tell, but in any case it did not react to it.

The bullets Operator had used so far on it had proven ineffective, but it knew its prey too well- soon he would resort to more effective weaponry. Therefore it had to act first.

Bringing up some kind of machine gun- which unfortunately for Operator, was still in working condition- it pointed it at his foe and let out a powerful salvo: BRATATATATAT.

Luckily, Operator's optical sensor kicked in at the right time to warn him of Omega's arm-based LMG. Operator breakrolled again to the left, and made a break for a nearby car, only minor damaged sustained during the reckless explosion, shooting his pistol all the way there.

He suddenly felt something hit his stomach. He grunted a bit in pain, immediately landing behind the car. As the bullets hit somewhat harmlessly, Operator did a quick phys-check of his body. one of Omega's bullets managed to hit him, but not close enough to cause injury or fatality. He'd survive so as long as the wound was being covered. "Oh come on, Tintop! This was my favorite suit!" Operator yelled in mock complaint. "Do you seriously have some beef with me or something? I mean sheesh, way to butcher our nice reunion. You stink, by the way."

Though Operator may have been bantering a bit, he was actually reviewing his options. He only had one mag left, and was thankfully Armor-Piercing. Just as planned. But there are no rules nor proceedings in battle. Things would get awry after the first bullet left the barrel. So he wondered, what would he do if her ran out of bullets. He inspected the car that was defending him from the dreaded arm gun. He also still had his Reverse-EMP device, the one which was used to attract Axel's attention earlier. If he could set the device to maximum, it could potentially disorient Omega enough to distract him and get the drop on him.

Operator shrugged, turning the dial to max, his ears buzzing really badly. He threw it to nowhere in particular and hoped that it would work.

Omega spotted the thrown object, but not in time to react to it.

EEEEEEEEEE!!

The mechanical killer began convulsing madly from the electromagnetic barrage. Noticing this, Ultra-Violet dared to swoop closer and blasted it with her strongest sunburst. While it did no physical harm, it did overload its optical receptors, effective blinding it temporarily. The young heroine then quickly flew away to find some cover, hoping someone else could finish the job.

Scythe trotted over to the TALOS agents and gently handed their agent over to them, trying to avoid causing her any further pain. Normally he would have tried to avoid injuries, but she had just survived a point-blank bomb blast and electrocution, so he doubted that anything he could do would cause much harm.

At that point, his optics had started to clear up. Shaking his head much like a human, the android charged back at the NEXUS, blasting at it with his pulse rifle. The TALOS agents had said something about evacuating civilians or what not- he could distract the thing for them.

Xy's head tracked the bat as it fluttered down and landed on her shoulder, and after a second or two of contemplation she figured it was either the monster-girl's "familiar", friend, or the girl herself. She nodded then turned back towards the shooting match between the Operator and his larger, meaner "brother".

"You may wish for a higher vantage point," she said to the bat as the Operator threw something at the bigger one. "I intend on re-entering the—-"

The reverse-electromagnetic pulse struck everyone in the area then, including her. She cried out in pain as her ears rang; "SENSORY OVERLOAD" rang out in her head, and she found her cybernetics switching to passive modes in order to avoid total shutdown. The earache was soon accompanied by the pains of the minor injuries she'd already sustained, tinged with slight hints of fear and uneasiness. She'd never fought without her ICE on-line; well, as far as she knew, anyway, since her first memory was breaking out of that TALOS facility at around 19...

She shook her head, trying to focus through the whining in her ears. Omega was clearly having it worse, and even without her ICE she knew she could take advantage of it...if she could handle the REMP device up close. "Go, now!" she yelped at the bat with an exaggerated wave of her arm as she began trotting back to the fight. The deafening intensified as she broke out into a full run, her heartbeat pounding as she fought back tears of pain.

She stumbled as she reached the device, doing her best to grab it with one swoop while still maintaining some forward momentum. She did a final shuffle, rearing her arm back as she got as close to Omega as possible; she screamed "Eat this, bitch!", and thrust her fist towards his face, hoping to bury the REMP as deep as she could.

Operator quietly watched as his plan seemed to work. Albeit all too well, possibly. The pink-haired woman bent over a bit the moment his REMP went into full-on overload, furthering Operator's (possible) suspicions. Surprisingly, the woman stood back at full height again, but looked to still be in pain. To the Black Smiler's shock, Xy charged up to Omega, swiping up the REMP from the ground. Smiling and quickly moving with almost inhuman speed, Operator jumped from behind the car, and slid behind his doppelganger, moving up to get him in a headlock. His right arm snaked to grab the android's chin, the metal bending against his metallic appendage. "I really hope I didn't shock you too much by my little underhanded trick." Operator jeered at his double. "I hope you like knuckle sandwiches!"

"Eat this, bitch!" The woman's voice rang out as Operator's arm held strong and constricted Omega's movement.

Alley near Walworth's

Jamming the EMP device against the Omega Prototype's face had the unfortunate effect of breaking it, ending its effects on the android. However the impact also damaged one of its "eyes", reducing its vision field by half.

Quickly taking measure of its current situation, the android concluded that it could not take on its counterpart and three unknown metahuman assailants at the same time. It needed time for repairs and reassessment. Thus it concluded that a tactical retreat was in order.

Turning around, it kicked backwards with all its robotic strength, slamming The Operator against Xyberpunk- hoping the impact would affect their organic body parts and stun them enough so he could break free and escape.

High above the chaotic scene below, a young man in a hoodie watched what could only be described as a utter smackdown took place. A man in a black outfit with a mask fought a menacing robot, while a woman slammed it with some kind of EMP thing-a-majig. He also spotted a bat. A bat, in broad daylight. Frankly, the fact that this was what he found strange was the crazy part.

Stop watching and do something, Miles. We didn't come here to sightsee.

The teen snorted. "Well, what would you like me to do? I've spotted at least five different heroic people down there. Would you rather I get my butt whooped trying to help them?"

No, Miles. What I mean is that you need to take advantage of the chaos. Swoop down and grab purses, wallets, and anything else valuable. Who would take note of some poor little hooligan in all of that?

Miles paused. "... Good idea. Get ready."

With that, he vaulted himself off of the building, sliding down a drainpipe and hitting the ground in a roll. In a flash, he was off and darting around at a speed that would make a Cheetah jealous, slamming into any civilians who hadn't evacuated yet. Although he didn't hurt anyone, he did grab anything that might contain money or other valuables.

He did try to stay out of the way of the various other meta-humans, but eventually someone woud notice him. Hopefully not anyone too powerful.

Omega's tactic worked; it broke free from Operator's hold and then immediately started to run away, faster than possible for any ordinary human.

Above them, Ultra-Violet saw the robot escape, but felt unable to do much about it.

Then she noticed she was still carrying the satchel the girl who jumped at the robot-octopus gave her-

Ohmygosh! I never checked what happened to her!

Feeling both guilty yet afraid of what she might see, Violet flew back to the harbor.

-***Meanwhile***

A 20-something Latino man walked down the street, grumbling to himself.

-*grumble I was hired as a bodyguard, not as an errand boy mumble*

Simon Jones may not be terribly happy about his current line of work but hey, at least he was getting paid. And for once, he didn't have to fight villains or supernatural creatures!

So OK, what did that Witch Hazel want again? Some exotic spices from Walworth's. Maybe she was working on a magical brew. Or making herself a drink. He didn't care.

Just as he was approaching the store, something fast ran by him- and took his wallet right off his pants!

"HEY! COME BACK YOU LITTLE-" he wasn't sure but it looked like- a teenager? Great, he had been robbed by a super punk!

Like Hell was he going to stand for this. He quickly fished around in his special belt for the proper Power Stimulant and brought out a capsule. He popped it between his fingers and-

SLAMM!!

Fell flat on his face.

The magic in the pill had increased his weight like, a ton.

"...!@#$ you, Hazel" he managed to mumble.

Then his Adaptation Power kicked in, and he felt light again.

Much lighter, in fact.

He was floating!

This won't do. Unless I can- and then, with a thought, he found himself hurtling through the air!

"Aaaaalright!" he shouted, as he took to the sky, zeroed in on the fleeing thief, and dive bombed him from above.

Miles kept on running, laughing as he dashed away, not even bothering to look over his shoulder as he snagged a different civ's wallet. After all, all of the able-bodied superheroes and villains would be drawn to what he could only assume was multiple chaotic free-for-alls over town, judging from a few of the scenes that he had seen while running around town. So there was no way that-

Sharp right turn! He's right behind you!

Miles quickly rolled to the right, springing to his feet and taking off down an alleyway between a Ice Cream Shop and a clothing store. He stopped, however, when he came to a dead end.

Up that ladder, Miles! Hurry up!

Following the advice of someone who was probably in a better state to handle things for him, Miles grabbed onto a ladder leaning against the wall of the Ice Cream Shop. Why they needed a ladder to the top of the roof was beyond him, but he was grateful for it.

Sucker has flight powers or something. Try to lose him on the ground if you can. And keep running- he can't match your speed without one of me helping him, and I'm probably the only one that was ever created. Probably. Maybe. Most likely.

"Gee, thanks. Very reassuring." Miles muttered to himself.

Operator had almost zero time to react, feeling his own weight vanish and bowel straight into Xy, knocking her over. As he heard Omega's acoustic servos go int overdrive and escape, Operator could only groan in utter annoyance. Not only he had let his double escape [again], but he was thrown into Xy belly upward, meaning that he landed hard on his chest wound. That was going to hurt in the morning back at his safehouse.

He slowly got up on his hands, looking in the direction Omega escaped, immediately plotting a tracking route based on Omega's retreating signature. After successfully plotting, Operator looked down and twitched in surprise. He was on top of Xy. For that one moment, he actually froze. All of his thought processes literally lagged. Even his own left red eye, which had been alight the entire battle, simply blacked out.

Got you, you little- Simon thought, as he was just about to land on top of the fleeing thief. His plan was to effectively kick him with all the force of his flight momentum and knock him flat on the ground.

But just as he was about to connect-

ziip!

-the guy turned to the right and sped away!

"Huh?" was The Traveler's reaction. Did he spot him somehow??

Fortunately, he landed on his feet. Had he tried to punch him instead, he would have ended up face-first on the ground.

Not wasting another second, he immediately kicked off the ground and regained altitude, looking for his target again. He easily spotted him (he might be fast, but cities are not built as obstacle-free courses and its not hard to spot a blur from above as long as it's within range.)

Still, it was obvious he was going to need more than just flight to catch this guy. He started fishing around in his "trick belt" again.

"Did we lose him yet?" Miles asked himself, jumping the gaps between buildings like they were cracks in the sidewalk.

No. Hell, he's actually really fast. Forget what I said about being able to outdistance him; if he has any more tricks up his sleeve, we might need to try something else.

"Well, that's just freaking great," Miles muttered, not daring to peek over his shoulder. The flying guy was fast, and he could fly. That was worrying enough, but flying superheroes didn't usually have just one power. They were almost always combos.

I'll keep an eye out for him. Keep running.

As Simon fetched around the belt's hidden pockets, he came up with another gravity capsule like the one that had given him his current flight power. That wasn't going to do any good though, unless-

And idea occurred to him that, if it worked, would be perfect to put this speedster in his place.

First, he attempted another dive-attack. Not that he expected it to work this time either. But if his target was confident enough in being able to duck again, his real attack might work.

As soon as he was close enough, he let go of the capsule. It hit the ground, releasing its invisible, magical field. It would only last a few seconds, but was strong enough to force Simon to land- and to pin the speedster to the roof he was running on, long enough for the Traveler to catch him and beat the tar out of him. (He hoped)

Miles ducked as the superhero above him divebombed him, turning sharply to the right. He...

Wait. He couldn't move. The teen looked around wildly, trying to figure out what the hell had happened. He was stuck to the ground, like a huge weight was pressing down on him.

Crap, crap, crap. Get ready to fight. Let me take over.

In a flash, Miles's face went from panicked to calm and collected, his posture straightening and his eyes narrowing. He looked very, very different, and very, very pissed off. He raised his hands in a guarding gesture.

GOTCHA! Simon Smiled.

He was however, a bit disappointed the kid didn't fall flat on his face.

The hoodie-wearing teenager turned around, and there was something- wrong about him. It looked like he was spoiling for a fight now. Simon had a bad feeling about this -he was at the very least, probably outmatched in speed- but he still thought he had a chance. He was much more combat-experienced than the teen. Probably.

He assumed a defensive martial arts position, and came closer. If attacked he would try to use Judo. Otherwise he would try to talk the guy into surrendering.

Hey there, buddy. I'm afraid that the kid you were chasing is out for the minute.

The voice didn't come from "Miles" lips, and instead bubbled up inside the Traveler's head. Jack Miles gave the superhero a creepy grin, cracking his neck. Ya see, some people don't get their superpowers naturally. And Miles here, well, he isn't in the best spot right now. And I honestly like the kid.

Jack Miles didn't attack, although he did slowly (very slowly) backpedal, moving at the speed of a snail.

Which is why you're going to walk the hell out of here now. You hit me, you hit my best friend- my only friend, really. And I'm not going to take that.

Hey there, buddy. I'm afraid that the kid you were chasing is out for the minute.

Telepathy now? Oh great Simon thought bitterly. And that 'out for the minute' crack- was the kid possessed?

Ya see, some people don't get their superpowers naturally. And Miles here, well, he isn't in the best spot right now. And I honestly like the kid.

So the kid IS possessed- and named Miles. Simon noticed his opponent starting to move away, but he wasn't running as long as the field lasted- too bad that would only be a few more seconds.

Which is why you're going to walk the hell out of here now. You hit me, you hit my best friend- my only friend, really. And I'm not going to take that.

"Maybe you should have thought of that before letting your 'friend' commit mass robbery" Simon countered. "You're not doing him any favors. If not me, someone else would have caught him. Possibly someone who would rather kill him than send him to juvenile court."

"I'm giving you ONE more chance. Give up, or kiss the roof. Your choice." Mentally, he was already considering how to help Miles. Maybe Hazel would know.

"Miles" laughed. You're a funny guy. You think you actually caught us? You're a one-trick pony, friend. I don't know why you have weird gravity and flying powers, but I can feel myself getting faster each passing minute.

Miles, you're up. Try to convince this guy that you're acting against your will.

Jack Miles spasmed, and dropped to a knee, hacking. After a few seconds, he was back to his normal self. "Help," he gasped, forcing back a smile. "I can't... he's too powerful. Don't hurt me," he rasped. "I'm... I'm going to try to fight him... help... me..."

"Help," the boy gasped. "I can't... he's too powerful. Don't hurt me. I'm... I'm going to try to fight him... help... me..."

Simon's first impulse was to reach over and help.

But he was far too experienced for that.

He was dealing with a possessed person. This could be a trick. In fact, for such a strong-sounding persona, it seemed to have slipped away a *bit* too easily.

Beside, time was running out. Only one more second of gravity field.

"Its OK, son. I'll get you help" and he meant it.

As soon as I get you to Hazel's.

And with that, *POW* he threw a knockout punch at his solar plexus.

Rooftop - Rolled a 1 on that Bluff check

Miles gasped as the man's fist connected with his stomach, and he doubled over in pain. Almost immediately, he slumped to the floor, his chest rising and falling. He was out like a light.

Of course, it was only Miles that was unconscious. After about three seconds of blissful silence, the kid's eyes snapped open, and he jumped to his feet, throwing a fake left-hook at Simon before bolting- since, after all, the field had (most likely) dropped at his point.

So much for that trick! We're working together of our free will, by the way. And you'll have to do better than that! Jack called as he vaulted himself over the side of the building he was currently on, hitting the street in a dead run.

Miles, of course, was unconscious. It looked like Jack would have free reign for the moment.

For a moment, Simon though he'd managed to win.

And then the demon or whatever it was came back. It claimed that it and its host were working together (which for all he knew could be true, not that he had any reason to trust anything it said anyway) and, with the gravity field now gone, it began running away again.

The Traveler cursed, but at least he too, was free to fly again.

And he took to the air to give chase again.

He pulled out his cellphone and speedialed Hazel. "Hey Boss-lady, I'm dealing with with some kid with either a case of Multiple Personality Disorder, or possession. Got any ideas?"
