My complaint is about Niantic making shadow better than purified in the first place.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Yeah, from an RP perspective, I never deploy Shadow Mons. Helps that I don't PvP, though.
FE: New Mystery Only Feet 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Umamusume Haru Arima 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiWell, if you don't PVP it's fine, but in PVP you're basically just gimping yourself, because Shadow mons are the strongest fighters you can have. Looks don't matter in PVP, what matter is your damage and move choices.
For a comparison, a level 25 Shadow deals more damage than a level 50 regular/purified mon. It's nuts.
Yeah, because they're the best choice to play in competitive. Purified mon are basically just the same thing as regular mon but has white aura as decoration.
Honestly though, I don't like it.....it indeed makes no sense that Shadows are better than Purified. But that's what we got.

That's the reason I'm pissed off. It's why this conversation started.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.So apparently there are going to be "Elite Raids" introduced to the game, with Hoopa Unbound being the first Elite Raid.
...and Elite Raids can only be done in-person. Personally, I'm not a fan of that decision.
"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."In a vacuum, it's better than the original iteration of EX Raids, but worse than the final iteration.
In full context, it's Niantic putting money before safety.

Yeah so far Altaria ended up being the biggest winners of the Toxapex release. Beats Tox and has fairy coverage against dark, which was projected to be one of the big winners of the release alongside ground. Ghost was projected to be a winner, which boosted dark alongside the two biggest losers.
The biggest losers of the release are fairy, fighting, bug, and fire (due to ground and Tox countering them). The projected increase in ghost and dark types make psychic very risky to use.
Got some Hoopas as well. Kinda missed going gym to gym with the community raid groups. Niantic definitely wasn't prepared, though. We had a raid freeze and eject our entire group, then the boss was immune to damage when we rejoined. And since there were no private groups allowed, we had to let the lobby take three minutes timing out while we sat on our thumbs. 30 mins is also way too short a time to chain together a decent string of raids for a walking group.
FE: New Mystery Only Feet 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Umamusume Haru Arima 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiWe were able to plan a series of two gym runs each timeslot just from checking out what one of the local parks had. I wasn't there for 5pm though so I'm not sure how well things went in terms of people.
The rare spawns after the raid was definitely the low point though. Most people I talked to either had no spawns, spawns so far away it wasn't worth it, or a single spawn. I only saw a single Hisuian Qwilfish and a Metang across the 4 raids I did.

Yeah, I'm one of those people who didn't get any rare spawns. Wasn't super concerned, since we were rushing gym to gym, but still.
FE: New Mystery Only Feet 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Umamusume Haru Arima 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiYeah, not too interested in the Elite Raids too.
Option One: I note the time and show up for the raid as the timer goes off. No one else shows up. I wait around. Congrats! I wasted 30 mins of my life!
Option Two: I see the raid and show up, but because we're human, I show up a minute or two after the timer goes off. Everyone who was going to show up already showed up for the raid, did it, and is currently leaving as I'm arriving. In two minutes. :/
I really don't understand Niantic's attitude against remote raiding and even 3rd party apps like Poke Genie. They want players to work together as a community to play the game but... isn't "Hey, we collaborated and made an app that connects players who want to complete the same objective and they can do it together" the ultimate expression of community collaboration???
Or, just using the Pokemon Go App, "Hey, I'm at this raid, I'm going to invite five of my friends to this raid so we can all work together to defeat it!" seems pretty collaborative, no?
Also, for a game that really really wants to promote it's players to work collaboratively, they sure do have no communication options so that players can actually collaborate together to complete objectives.
You can't demand collaboration and communication of a player base that you actively refuse to allow to do so? And get all fussy when said players find other means of collaborating?
"We want you to work together! Wait, No... not like that..."

The only reason to have a purified Pokemon in competitive is for Return, which is decent but rarely better than other available moves, whereas the Shadow Boost alters stats in a way that's often advantageous.
