So, Shiny Wingull has been released 3-4 days early. It's possible that it's a mistake on Niantic's part.

Hit level 38, so I'm now the proud owner of the following level 40s: 100% Machamp, 96% Machamp, 100% Kingdra and 100% Rapidash. I also took my best Smack Down Tyranitar, an 87% with 15 Atk, up to level 39.5. I'm just five candies shy of 40 for him.
The friendship system has been rather ridiculous for facilitating this. I've been passively gaining huge chunks of level because I have a list containing a very large portion of the raid chats I'm in and all the Ultra levels are trickling in now. If I throw on an egg, each one of those is worth 100k XP. Tons of gain for almost no effort.
Okay, so. This weekend is the last set of Summer Challenges, which will unlock a bunch of Stardust bonuses between the 3rd and 10th of September for doing lots of Field Research Tasks. Hitting all the goals will cause Moltres to return to raids for three hours on September 8th, and like Zapdos it will be possibly shiny and have a unique move, this time Sky Attack. Sky Attack Moltres will have higher neutral DPS than Overheat, and Flying shares Fire's effectiveness against Grass and Bug, so it's worth getting. Even against things like Machamp, which are weak to Flying but not Fire, Moltres will beat out double-Flying Rayquaza in sunny(/moony) weather.
And we also get the mysterious Ultra Bonus. My money's on non-EX Mewtwo, since we seem to be doing Kanto legendaries as a theme.

TSR's teardown of the new version. I'm too lazy to put it in my own words this time.
Huh... something I just thought of... do Special Research quests count towards the Community Day goal? I'm still plodding along the "9 eggs hatched" quest (it's not like I'm in a hurry otherwise), and I'll certainly spring for incubators if it turns out that will help.
I don't think anyone knows. Niantic is pretty non-transparent about this stuff. Even if they do, these goals usually get hit so easily that I wouldn't recommend dropping coins to contribute. Just do it if you want to bypass that time gate faster.
I'm somewhat tempted to do it simply to clear out the six 10 km eggs I have out of my inventory regardless... that said, I have to clear out inventory space to be able to do so.
I think you mean "catch 5 fire-types" task - I have that one currently.
Yeah, I've finished one and am working on another. Since Fire-types don't spawn naturally in my area and the weather has taken a turn for the cloudier, I've been relying on other quests to get it done. I've also already gotten the new Spinda.
New Spinda quest's been oddly common for me compared to the previous one. I think I got three copies of Spinda 8, but I've already gotten 11 copies of Spinda 3, of which I've thrown out 2. I'm debating how many I should hang onto for trade.
Silver Pinap quests have been annoying here, too. Sunny weather has suddenly disappeared, being replaced by ye olde Partly Cloudy. It's not all bad, since that weather makes it much easier to farm everything for dust, but it does make getting the quests done (of which I found four yesterday...) really annoying. Fortunately, the area I like to hang around will still spawn the odd Ponyta in any weather, so it was a matter of being patient and stacking the quests. Helped that I got a couple "catch 5 with weather boost" give me Vulpix, too (even though I'm more interested in Poliwags at the moment, I can't say no to Vulpix, quests or not).

We've been getting hit with the cloudy weather as well. I've mostly been clearing through my queue for the stray Charmanders that I've been storing up (although I apparently did every Gastly quest under the sun instead).
I also managed to somehow get and complete the "catch a Ditto" request. I should keep better track of what I have.
There's been a change to Lucky Pokemon◊.

Record Needle Scratch
I had briefly dreamed on the ultra reward being a single chance at Mewtwo, but I kept it to myself as overly optimistic. An entire weekend with multiple chances? No. Way.
I'll have to edit that. It's the 20th of September until the 23rd of October. An entire month.

All that, and I barely even registered that the Gen I regionals are going to be in 7 km eggs (I wonder if there's going to be a restriction on where the eggs originated from or not - Anura, I'll be prioritizing your gifts as insurance). This is, to be blunt, miles beyond what I thought we'd get from Ultra Events (I was expecting a weekend of maybe guaranteeing the three birds coming back and being shiny, or maybe even that EX raids would have shiny Mewtwo from here on out).
By Kanto Regionals do you mean Tauros, Farfetch'd, Mr. Mime, and Kangaskhan? Because if so, that'd be really nice.
Dang, I'm really looking forward to this. I haven't caught any other regionals since Farfetch'd was made available last Thanksgiving. (I just hope I don't just end up hatching a ton of Tauros out of my 7k eggs the whole time, given my usual luck. 😅)
I got Farfetch'd from last year's global challenge, and Kangaskhan from the Europe event after the first Go Fest. Since I get plenty of Mime regardless, that just leaves Tauros.
Heh, if not for this egg event, it'd be too bad we can't trade over distance. I catch a Tauros every few days and at our friend rank, it wouldn't be too costly to trade one to you.
Tauros is the only regional I've got (though I almost got a Mr. Mime from someone traveling through my city until he realized he'd already used up his special trade for the day), so I've got a lot of ground to cover. Good thing getting enough raid passes for turbo Moltres raiding has left me with a hefty stock of Super Incubators.
So this whole thing seems to be a way to clear up Gen 1 for good. Mewtwo getting a whole month in regular raids suggests that it's being replaced by something else, with the most common guess being Deoxys.
Pokestop Nomination is being beta tested in Brazil and South Korea!

I'm not surprised that you have to be level 40 to be able to suggest/submit Pokéstop locations. If just anybody could, they'd probably be drowning in junk locations.
I'm still at level 32, so I have quite a ways to go before I can even think of doing this.
