Spawn folded his arms. He heard it all before from Angela. He was a demon, he was a traitor to mankind, he didn't deserve to live, he needed to burn in hell for eternity, he had no business protecting humanity, it went on. At least Angela had the excuse of being an angel. What was Lady's problem?

"If you have any doubt in what I can do, you don't need to ask for my help," Spawn responded coldly.

"And do you think I like the way I look right now? This isn't some lousy spandex suit. It's a parasite, it's bound to my nerves. I can't get rid of it, I can't even think about getting rid of it without it protecting itself."

Spawn pondered. He could change the way he looked, he could have even shape-shifted back into how he looked as a human if he liked. But that would have been a waste of precious Necroplasm and he honestly didn't feel like revealing more about himself than he had to, even to his allies.

"Oh, so we're dividing into three groups?" Hearing the announcement over the unseen intercom, the two blondes looked at each other for a bit before sighing, the original once more flashing a hand sign to create the fifth kunoichi running around. "Okay, now we have enough for all three fronts." Jangling their equipment to show the new copy what to expect, Naruclone #4 hastily began looking through her own cloned equipment before selecting the right tools for the mission, this one strapping what looked like two giant pairs of shuriken the size of a car's tire on her back in a manner evocative of an eight pointed compass.

"The ceiling is up. Also what I think is the radio system our unknown commissioners are using to talk to us." Naruko's clone stated to Xigbar with a straight and serious tone after inclining her head to look upwards for a moment, not getting the gist of his words due to being from a place that didn't have such slang. And then Scott came nearby, rudely trying to interject in some of the more serious conversations going around. "Nah, that's kinda dumb. How about whoever gets their hands on something first gets that thing. But we share anything important like keys to the moving base or entire armories."

"Also it's alright. Just warn me next time since I'm kinda ticklish." Gently telling Sypha not to worry due to being a softie, the twintailed girl gave her a thumbs up. And then Korra's glare dug into her back, causing her to feel something familiar. The half lidded glare, the silent misgivings... it was ever so familiar. Shivering and wrapping her arms around herself for a moment to dispel the negativity flowing through her, she simply gave the woman a friendly smile that somehow evoked an empty and hollow feeling.

Deciding to chime in on the conversation about healers to stop Lady's pretty blatant antagonism of the nice if oddly dressed man as well as the other people in that grouping, the original Naruko took a scroll out of her scroll to reveal a practical looking first aid kit in a manner of convenience that was akin to opening up several layers of Matroesjka dolls. "Well, I know how to perform field dressing and general first aid, though I'm not anywhere as good as a doctor or medic ninja would be. Still, it's enough to stop your guts from flowing out long enough for the real professionals to get to you like the ojisan over here." The girl said with a small bow towards Spawn, knowing full well how it was to be hated simply for being different and having demonic influences.

Jory sets back his gear on his person, kept watch on the proceedings, hearing and thinking about them. The intercom came in and he felt a tad of relief to he fact he would be fighting an enemy not completely unfamiliar, and even more relief to have a target. That and people were organizing, seeking specialists in several positions. Still there was bickering, and foul moods, understandable at times, but not useful at this time. He occupied himself to ask the men over the intercoms "Snapback? what is that? doesn't sound much too promising"

While the dolls on her shoulder conversed in their strange manner, Delta took a moment to flash-fire another steak to a good medium-rare, then placed it in her belt porthole. Switching out the rivet gun for the familiar drill, and giving a satisfying tap of the belt with it for good measure, it seemed as if things were handled for now. The one-armed boy now knew to stay away from the little ones, the woman with the launcher was avoiding shooting anymore, and everyone had eaten. It appeared as if now it was time to do, or to die. Sitting back doing nothing wouldn't do any good, if the man over the radio was any indication, so it appeared as if the Big Daddy was going to be forced into another war. Fortunately, it seemed like there was one group that was going to be focused on something that went beyond mindless violence. Stealth almost seemed peaceful, in a way. Shoving a drill against the back of a splicer's head and revving it up until all that was left was a bloody hole in the wall meant that a shoulder-bound Little Sister wouldn't even have to worry about someone shooting at her, and that was nice. Delta liked peaceful solutions.

With a few long, careful strides, Delta approached the original Naruko, as she seemed to be the most vocal member of the ones claiming to have stealth skills. Delta stopped on the opposite side of the scroll from her, and then crouched a bit so that at least her head wasn't much higher up than the orange-clad ninja's own, nor the others standing near her. The Alpha Series tapped a large thumb to the suit's chest, pointing at herself, then moved that hand up to where a normal person's mouth would probably be and held up an index finger, making a 'hush' sign. Removing the hand, Delta then nodded, hoping she would understand.

Scott, Missing the point

Scott reeled back as the samurai girl, who was apparently a guy even with how girly he looked, insulted him. "Wait, you're a guy?! I mean, hey! Who are you calling a barbarian!" Scott moved into the man's personal space. "I'm totally a fighter and swordsman! Do I look like an axe-wielding, fur wearing meathead to you, you...uh, you... girlyboy!"

Mitsuhide, exasperated

The facepalm wasn't known in Japan until modernity, so Mitsuhide had to do with sighing and taking a small step backwards (in case he had to draw his sword).
"You are loud, rude, greedy, and obviously uncivilised," he told Scott, his tone like ice. "Therefore you are obviously a barbarous nanban."

"Really?" said Damian. "Sinestro dying honorably? Maybe it's because he was trying to beat my brains out, but that doesn't sound very likely right now." After a moment's pause, Damian clapped his hand to his forehead. "I just realized, I never introduced myself. I'm Damian. Most people call me Nightwing."

Scott, fear his modern appliances

Scott had no clue what the samurai had called him, but it sounded like an insult. And he wasn't going to take that from the guy with longer hair than most girls. What a dick. And he thought samurais were supposed to be cool. "I'm not a naan bread, or whatever you called me! I have a TV and a couch, that's totally civilized! I bet you have those rice walls and don't even have electricity or games." Scott crossed his arms, smiling smugly. "Do you even know what a car is?"

Nightwing. That did sound familiar. Wasn't that an old Kryptonian legend? Regardless, it was reassuring that Nightwing wasn't fond of Sinestro; the splinters were typically more agreeable than the Sinestro Corps.

"I am Bro'Dee Walker, although many call me Saint Walker. A little pretentious I suppose but not my choice."

He then turned back to the others. Ideally they would go through everyone's powers and sort them into teams but they probably didn't have time.

"The blue light can also heal your wounds. We should probably distribute our healers evenly, although like I said my powers can't exactly handle stealth."

Xigbar chuckled at the blonde ninja as he replied,"Okay, you got me there. I mostly meant it as a 'How's it going?' sort of thing. Then again, I don't know if you get that either."

He lowered his left hand to her as he said, "The name's Xigbar. I've heard mostly everyone's name so far, so I figured it'd be fair that I did the same."

Lady-Threats

Lady leaned in close to Spawn, lowering her voice threaningly.

"Let me make this clear. I've slaughtered thousands of demons, all of which were nothing more then blodthirsty monsters. In all of the recorded history of my world, going back thousands of years, there has only been a single instance of a demon not being a total monster, and I know from personal experence he was a bastard in other ways. So, forgive me if I'm sceptical you just so happen to be the one in a billion exception to the rule.

As he waited for a response Jory watched as another conflict arose between two more individuals. Scott and Mitsuhide would see Jory approach them, and would feel his hands on each of their shoulders. "Enough" would say the eyepatched knight. "Soon we're to set out to the field, there it will be hard to distinguish friend from foe if you're caught in chaos of combat, why make that distinction harder? although" he looked at Mitsuhide "You'd know that wouldn't you? you wear an armour, you carry a blade and both of them are worn. You know what combat entails" He turned to Scott "and you don't, unfortunate for you, or perhaps fortunate since you haven't met such hardships, and yet, you have a blade, you said so yourself." He removed his hands from their shoulders.

"Then bear it to me" he asked pulling White Fang out of its sheath, and as the white steel blade was out he turned to Mitsuhide "And so do you, I ask you as men of honour, as warriors, lets present our steel so it won't harm those present right now" He said holding out his sword vertical between them.

"Hey. I'm totally a fighter." Scott frowned at the man that interrupted his argument with the samurai. Who was this ruggedly handsome man. And why did he think that? It was probably Wallace's fault. He scowled even more at that thought. " "I was best fighter in the province. No one could beat me. I've beaten a magical pirate hipster, a psychic vegan, a half-ninja chick and an asshole in glasses." Scott pointed his finger at the man. "That last one is important."

Then Scott was grinning again. Finally, a chance to show off his badass new sword. Taking a step back and spreading his feet, he took a solid stance with his fists clenched at his sides. Taking a breath, he felt the blade within himself and called on it. The broken heart on his shirt burst into a flash of dark purple light, as the hilt of a sword began to slowly rise from his chest. It was dark purple, with a pommel in the shape of a black heart broken in two. Grabbing the handle, Scott pulled the sword from his chest in a burst of dark fire. The blade cut through the air, leaving a short-lived trail of bluish-purple flames, and came to rest at his side.

SCOTT EQUIPPED THE POWER OF HEARTBREAK

Now that the blade was still, it would be easy to take note of its unique features. Obviously a katana, the blade itself was a dark gray that seemed to not reflect as much light as it should and the edge of the blade was jagged and chipped in places. It was also covered in a flickering, unearthly bluish-purple flame that seemed to emanate from the blade itself.

Bringing it up in front of him, once again leaving a short-lived trail of dark fire, Scott grinned around the blade. "So... pretty damn cool, right."

Tali blinked in surprise as Delta's answer crackled over the comms. Radio transmission? I hadn't expected something that old, but at least it works.

"Yes, I do," she replied, "But if the only way you can talk is through radio, many of us won't be able to hear you. That could be a problem, especially in a fight."

Their contact's description of the situation outside was sounding more and more bizarre. Magic and technology together? Ancient solid-projectile weapons and power armor? Leaving aside the fact that magic didn't exist...although maybe something about this universe was different...how were the factions still fighting if things were that bad? Or had it just become part of their culture? Maybe they didn't know any other way of life. That was one of the most awful things she'd ever heard. But it did give them a little more factual information to work with and Marco was quick to improvise with that.

"Right," she said, "Three small, quiet teams and one big loud one to draw attention. But will that work if conditions are as chaotic as they say? If most of their people don't even have comms, how would they know to send their best people after a distraction? And even if they did, it seems as though it wouldn't be anything but a slaughter. I know we're going to wind up fighting them, but killing dozens just to get their attention isn't right. Maybe just three teams, each with a stealth element and a distraction element?"

She was distracted by the argument going on over with Scott, Mitsuhide, and Jory, and the other one between Lady and Spawn. Great. More discord. At least separate teams would keep these ones away from each other. Jory seemed to be handling things, though, so she turned back to Delta.

"Like I said, if you can't speak out loud, I just thought maybe I could help you, and your friends."

She didn't expect gratitude, or even acceptance, but the offer had to be made.

"As for me," said Nightwing, following Saint Walker's cue, "the yellow light can get inside your head and make constructs based on your deepest fears. I'm not gonna demonstrate that on anyone here, for obvious reasons. I don't want to psyche anybody out. My ring also works as a universal translator, so if we meet anything that speaks a totally alien language, I can handle the communications. As for combat, I've been trained from birth in hand-to-hand, I've got a pair of escrima sticks that can combine into a staff, I can shoot lasers from my ring, and I can make constructs according to my needs..." He held out a fist and made a motorcycle construct, then got on it. "...like so. Obviously, stealth isn't gonna be my thing, at least if I want to keep my most useful abilities, but rest assured that if my ring ever comes off, I won't be a sitting duck by any means."

Mitsuhide — finally someone to his liking

At first, Mitsuhide made to swat Jory's hand away from his shoulder, but the knight removed it by himself and appealed to the Samurai's honour. Scott's theatrical display did nothing to endear him to Mitsuhide, and for a while the struggle between his haughtiness and his honour was plain on his face.
Honour won, at the end. "Very well," he said. Drawing his sword slowly and deliberately — so that neither Jory nor Scott would think he was drawing steel on them — Mitsuhide put its flat side upon White Fang. "This is Gilded Talon, and so I, Akechi Mitsuhide, swear: none of this group will feel its bite, so as long as they behave honourably, as warriors are meant to."

Spawn's perpetual grin continued to stretch across his face, but his eyes were squinted and weary.

"I think it's best that you and I work in separate groups," he said to Lady.

Spawn was annoyed by all the arguments that had happened, between him and Lady and also between the others. Hopefully a bit of forced teamwork would at least get everyone used to each other.

"Snapback is... remember how I said that your universes have holes in them? Well, sometimes holes self-seal. For all we know, it's completely random. But when a universe has all of it's holes sealed, anything that belongs to the universe that's outside of it will snap back to it's original universe."

"It just happened to Obi-Wan Kenobi. The old guy in the robes who was sitting in the corner. We don't know the cause of this phenomenon, but if you notice someone has just disappeared at any point, that's why."

"Don't be." Tucker said, pulling himself to his feet. "Church'll be back. He always comes back. This isn't the first time he's died."

Well, straight from anger into denial. Tucker glanced over at the group who was strategizing (and building meat towers), and cocked his head.

"Hey, what are they doing again? I missed the call for a huddle."

Conan was beginning to feel extremely overwhelmed with all of the chaos and conversations going on around him. So he began trying to keep up as he fiercely wrote noted replies. First, he wrote a note back to Nagisa...

Nice to meet you too, Nagisa. I ah...actually don't remember my prior mysteries, but I seem to have plenty of the instincts. I've been told I'm suffering some mild amnesia so most of what I know is by instinct and unaffected memories right now. I just hope whatever skills I have can help us here. I'm going to really need some luck, especially since I can't talk...

He no more handed that note to Nagisa...or at least waited until she had read it...before he wrote a new one. He wrote this one out for Tali...

I can't talk at all, sorry. It's a long story. I will definitely need help communicating. For reference though, you can call me Conan.

He immediately held this out to Tali and awaited for her to either take or read the paper before writing out yet another note, this time for Naruko since Delta had chosen to sit next to her. This was only to introduce himself.

Hey there, nice to meet you. I'm Conan Edogawa. It was...Naruko, right? I can't talk, but I hope we can all get along and figure this out. I happen to be a detective, so I'm going to do my best. I'm sure if everyone calms down this will work out somehow...

He carefully held that out to her then before trying to figure out if there was anyone else he needed to talk to. He was also...very thankful that he had a really thick notebook to work with.

And in this heart, our bond cannot break. From here to the end and back again I will stand sharp. The light in me will guide you home...

The knight looked at the display and his scarred lips formed a smile. "thanks" he simply said. His eye scanned both blades and both men. One, after all, can tell a lot from a man's weapon, and how that weapon is kept. He sheathed his blade "That is all I ask, not for you to like each other, but to understand that you're... nay we are to be brothers in battle. Understand that fact and we'll have a chance, and if you do, well, I'll be honoured to fight along your side when the time comes" He turned to walk away, and stopped "Oh, one more thing, Scott was it? Lad, your sword may be coated in magic, that is obvious, but it is dishevelled, take may words as you may." And he walked away back to the place he was, to watch over the rest off the group.

Hearing the latest transmission the knight frowned "So any of us may dissappear on the whim of the gods, so to speak? that's inconvenient to say the least, but we'll press on" He decided.

Nagisa (Bebe), Delta's shoulder -> Naruko

Once more, there was a note to fiddle with. Poor Conan seemed to be somewhat overwhelmed. From what she could tell, as much as she could peek Bebe's bulbous face around Delta's thick helm, Conan only had so many pages to work with too!

"That's a very unfortunate circumstance, to have even some of your memories missing! Perhaps we can find some mannerism of returning them to you, along with your voice. Assuming you had the ability to speak at any prior point? I'm sorry if that's a poorly made assumption, Conan."

She mulled over it a bit, but there really wasn't much in her head to work with. Nagisa could only assume it would all work out, somehow. Anyways, Delta had brought them by the orange suited one with all the clones. Delta seemed to be signing something Naruko's way. Nagisa observed for a moment, and then joined in the process. Her piddling doll body echoed Delta's motions, a felt hand bounced off her chest, she held a finger over the thick line marking Bebe's mouth.

Apparently it was somehow important they tell Naruko to be quiet? That was a shame! Naruko spoke well and was friendly, from what Nagisa had overheard while milling about.

Elesis - Demons Everywhere

Elesis nodded in acknowledgement to Armani's response, completely ignoring the sudden red tone in his face. Unfortunately, conflict started arising once more between Lady and Spawn, so she had no option but to intervene.

"I've seen demons who can not only heal others, but also bring back their dead, so this doesn't sound all that weird to me," the red-haired woman stated, standing between the two demon hunters. "That said, I don't like the idea of working with a demon either, so I'd rather be in a different group too."

Naruko's hollow smile made Korra stumble back a little, shaking her head in surprise. "No, I-I..." She stammered, looking down at... shame? Why did she feel ashamed that she had caused some form of discomfort to this woman? "I wasn't... I wasn't glaring at you." She mumbled, hoping that she wasn't revealing the fact that, up until today, she had never interacted with anyone from outside the compound. "I was just..."

Before she could concoct an appropriate response, a young man approached her with a kind of familiarity Korra had never seen before. "Uhm." She gasped, trying to figure out how to reply to his questions, and settling on the one thing she knew best. Her fists clenched, her face scrunched into a glare and her tone lowered to an icy one. "You're confusing me with someone else, just like the machine. I'm not..." She took a deep breath. "I don't know you, I've never seen you before, back off!"

And then, Korra took a step back, crossing her arms and trying to distance herself from Armani, putting on an uncaring glare just as hollow as Naruko's smile.

Lady-Grudging agreement

As much as Lady hated agreeing with anything a demon said, in this case she was in agreement with him.

"Ya, right. Just stay out of my way and I'll pretend you don't exist."

Then she turned to the newcomer, raising an eyebrow at the.....frankly, weird looking outfit.

"Er, right. If you say so, but like I said, doubtful. Er, I'm sorry, who are you?"

This greyscale man, Scott, certainly gave the impression of being an asshole from Susan's perspective...but he was a part of this team, right? It wasn't going to help if all he got was derision from everyone else in here, and eventually they were going to have to rely on him for something...so, might as well try and give him some kind of positive attention.

Even if he was at the other end of the room, it wasn't going to be much of a problem to get there without bothering anyone. As soon as she was sure nobody was looking, Susan sunk into the floor.

A brief moment later, and Scott could feel a clawed hand lightly resting on his shoulder. "Don't worry, Scott," Susan said, having appeared out of nowhere, leaning down to speak into his ear. "I think your sword is cool! I don't know much about 'em, but can't say I've seen a flaming one in some time."
