"Oh, um... I'm sorry," Sabrina quickly apologized when Claw noticed her. "I've just not seen a... being like you before."

Sabrina quickly glanced over at KOS-MOS, before returning to address Claw, "Well, there are beings here that I've also never seen before."

"I don't have a communication device, so linking to KOS-MOS is going to be a no go for me," Shiroe sighed, shaking his head, "I will probably have to stay with someone that can communicate, just for safety sake. Since strengthening a party is my best skillset, it's probably best for me to travel in a group to be most effective."

Which was ironic, since he wasn't a very social person...

He also didn't talk about it, but he was already mentally taking notes on everyone's mentions of their strengths and abilities whenever they mentioned them. If he ever ended up having to form a strategy for the team, he would definitely need these mental notes to do so...

"The feeling is mutual." He replied with a shrug. "I presume that's how people look like in other realms, but it still makes me just a little perplexed at the sheer amount of naked apes here among other, stranger folk." Judging by his matter-of-factly tone it didn't seem like he was planning to insult anybody here.

Claw glanced at red wolves with a raised eyebrow. His knowledge of magic was limited, but he did know how distressingly strong a seasoned sorcerer could be. It seemed at least one was going with them, so that was out of the way. "If keeping that communication magic thing might hurt you it's probably best to only use it periodically rather than keep it activated at all times." He pointed out to KOS-MOS. "Especially if you're saying that you can't recharge it easily."

To    The kid

The scion stared at him for a moment longer, mild confusion burning in her eyes. She glanced down at her hands, then back up at him.

She took a better look at him. Adolescent human boy. White haired, short. Typical judgement: Not threatening. Not experienced. Growing in strength, but in need of protection.

But, this one showed stature that very few teenagers did. No fear in his eyes, complete calm, complete confidence. Well armed.

Amended judgement: Probable fighter, experienced with hardship. Perhaps well traveled.

...She blew out a breath and scratched her head, suppressing a surge of frustration. This did not help her understand why he was so surprised at simple moonlight.

Unless...

Amended judgement 2: adolescent-grounded-warrior, from another universe. Another universe, with potentially entirely different planets other than Earth.

Her eyes widened, sucking in a shocked breath. "Oh! I apologize, I misunderstood. That light is called moonlight, cub." She smiled at him; the poor child must not have a moon where he came from. Her sympathy was beyond words. " On my planet, there is another smaller planet that orbits ours. We call it the moon. When the night comes, the sun's light reflects off of the moon, radiating even at night. That light looks like this."

She didn't move or anything, but suddenly soft moonlight began pouring gently out of her skin. It made her look a bit like a lavalamp. "Do you see?"

She didn't know what she'd do if he still didn't understand; she hadn't thought to bring anything like a stupid astronomy book...

Completely deaf to the black hole of emotions within the robot’s breast due to the black hole that made up the robot’s face, Rhys nodded and patted Loader Bot’s shoulder twice with an affectionate clunk clunk. “Alrighty, let’s fly!” He said, pointing a triumphant finger in the direction of the settlement.

The rockets underneath Loader Bot’s feet kicked back into high gear, burning the ground underfoot and flattening the grass around them as the trio went up. And up. And up a little bit more. Rhys’s anxious clutch on the robot’s shoulder eased somewhat as it became apparent that Ro-Man’s additional weight was making Loader Bot’s ascent a good deal slower than it was supposed to be, and the salaryman’s expression deflated in time with their ascent with the speed and likeness of a leaking balloon. “Not to be that guy here," Rhys started, tucking his head over Loader Bot's 'head', "but is this going to be the speed the entire wa- aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay—!”

Sorry.

Once given a straight line to fly in, Loader Bot was able to get up to a respectable clip, orienting horizontally as his thrusters let out a soft boom to signal their rapid acceleration. Rhys pressed himself flat to Loader Bot’s back, knuckles (on the one hand, anyway) turning white, while Ro-Man was slung underneath like a baby kangaroo, its various gorilla-like extremities left to dangle. At the very least, Rhys had to admit they were well on their way to a solution to this whole Tower business.

And speaking of solutions, would you look at that, there was a giant lake over there perfect for disposing of genocidal monsters. If I can get him over the center, it might take him a while to get out… Rhys thought, sporting a small, determined smirk. If he just gently steered Loader Bot by leaning to the side, he could direct them to a slightly more roundabout way toward the camp, and give the order at the last minute. Let’s see if that diver’s helmet is just for show.

But as the zen-like qualities of the endless green overcame him, Rhys’s eyes widened as he found a thread stretching from the back of his mind all the way back to the Tower in the distance, guiding his internal compass so that he could never lose its place. It was unnerving, to say the least, and it was hard to believe the monster didn’t have a similar set-up. Rhys’s face fell, and he pressed his cheek flush to Loader Bot’s chassis as he resigned himself to sporting this creature around for a little while.

Thankfully enough, he might not have to go it alone; Rhys’s new dejected position allowed him to catch sight of Minerva flying off to his 3:00. A quick Echo Eye scan confirmed she had a solid speed advantage over them, not to mention a head start. If he wanted her to turn around, and start helping him with this Robot Monster issue, he was going to have to yell.

And he did. “Hey! You!” Rhys called out over the rushing wind with his best smile, raising his robot arm slightly and waving it to get her attention. “We should stick together! You know, for survival!"

Meanwhile, Loader Bot kept its grip around Ro-Man secure. “This may be an inopportune time to ask.” asked Loader Bot ponderously, “Are you afraid of heights?”

Toph

"... Armani Dove." Toph finished at the same time as Instinct, raising an inquisitive eyebrow. "No, I remember him. I remember him and his... uh... problems." She muttered, remembering the day she accidentally triggered one of his traps and proceeded to kick him several times in the face. "But the thing is, I don't remember you. And I've got a pretty good memory."

Toph cleared her throat, smiling to herself.. "And I'm not a cub anymore, though I'm still the greatest there is at what I do." Flexing her arms and snickering at her own self-congratulations, she nodded at the forest path. "Let's get moving, and you can tell me more on the way there."

"Hold up!" She yelled to the group, catching up to them, walking past D.Va and shooting her a confused glance. "... why the heck are you talking to the air?"

Cassius

"Uhm... guys?"

Cassius began looking around. "Did any of you see my shoes?... oh oh." He dipped his head into the water, returning five seconds later with a grumpy frown. "Okay. I'm gonna need new shoes because some fish just snatched mine up from the bottom of the river."

Not wanting to turn this into a sign that he wasn't capable of taking care of himself, he promptly followed it up with a thumbs up to KOS-MOS and Jaina, following the river group by swimming and sticking close to the shore- but not passing by the chance to let the current do the work for him.

The Kid, Talking to Instinct

The Kid smiled and raised his eyebrows slightly at the girl calling him 'cub'. That was a new one, and he'd heard a lot of them. Then she started an explanation on what a moon was, and the suddenness and strangeness of the topic and the kindly way she did it, coupled with her fierce features, drew an incredulous laugh from him.

He lifted a hand and gave her an apologetic smile, "I'm... I'm sorry, I'm not laughing at you. It's just... I know what a moon is. Thanks, though. I think, we might be approaching this from different sides. You're saying your moon, gives you the ability to... summon animals and light? Sorry if I'm still getting it wrong. It's quite beautiful." Kid was watching the soft light that surrounded her body, looking her up and down as the light flowed around her.

Distantly, the sound of shouting reached Minerva's ears, breaking the silent peace she had been enjoying. Who...? Oh. The man with the metal arm and the bizarre machine. Accompanied, apparently, by... well, she still had no idea what that thing was even supposed to be.

Minerva weighed the possibility of simply ignoring him and leaving him behind. If she was any judge, Milady seemed to feel the same, based upon the warning growl the wyvern let out. It would be rather ill-mannered of her, but, well, Minerva had always been the roughest of her family.

She didn't. With a pull of the reins, she commanded Milady to slow down and fly alongside Rhys and Loader Bot - albeit, with a bit of space between them, so as to avoid breathing in the smoke from Loader Bot's rockets. As much as she wanted to continue her solitary, peaceful flight, it would be unwise to refuse backup in unknown territory.

Milady let out another threatening growl. Minerva did not deign to reprimand her mount, but instead spoke to Rhys herself.

"T'would be prudent, indeed. This is land is a mystery, and may well be fraught with danger. There is safety in numbers." She agreed, though privately, she considered that there was also safety in being alone. No one else for her to worry about. No one else for her to fail.

"I do not believe you and I have been introduced of yet. I am Minerva, princess of-" No, that title was no longer hers. She did not deserve it. Her own men had risen against her. A ruler who could not command the respect of her people... What was it the King of Talys always said? A kingless country is a country still; but a king without subjects rules naught but hills. Yes, that was the phrase Mostyn was so fond of.

"... I am Minerva. A mere wyvern knight. Nothing more. This," she gestured to the dragon she rode, "is Milady."

"That's nice," says the white-haired man, in a tone of voice that suggests he doesn't find it nice at all. "Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with searchable Bibles in our heads, so you'll have to forgive the misquotation."

He gets his back off the tree, brow as crinkled as the bark behind. His eyes shine like barbed arrowheads.

"I'm not making any claim to be right. The way I see it, I'm just making sure that you won't get a chance to be wrong. Because if you are wrong - and you very well might be - then you'll bring the whole Tower down on our heads. And while you might be perfectly happy to have your pretty blue head turned into spare radio parts, I have a brain."

He pushes through the circle and out to the river, glaring down at the young splashers as he walks, like a very surly pelican.

"If defenselessness were all it took to acquit a man," he remarks over his shoulder, "then you'd see all the murderers in the world with their shirts over their heads and their pants around their ankles. Who knows, maybe that is how it works where you come from. But me? I've never cared for innocence."

The feeling of flight like this was a new sensation, one that made his attempts to ignore those...earlier thoughts easy to not dwell on. Since the Ro-Men had relied on teleportation for travel in recent history, he had never gotten to so much as step foot on any kind of aircraft. The view from up here, seeing every contour of the land clearly, made him wonder if abandoning flight travel was a good idea. The tactical bonus of seeing everything like this probably would've let him find those last humans much faster.

He was quick to get out of his thoughts when the robot questioned him again. "The Ro-Men have abandoned such basal reactions as fear long ago. Mostly because we have nothing left to fear in the galaxy!" That would've been enough of a boast, but he followed it up with another question of his own. "Do you have any capacity for emotion yourself, robot?"

Blinking his eyes at the bizarre stutter-stop of Minerva’s greeting, Rhys attempted to laugh it off. “Don’t worry, I… accidentally introduce myself as a princess all the time!” He said, planting his foot firmly inside of his mouth. Brushing past the awkwardness to brush Loader Bot’s side, Rhys began the round of introductions. “My name’s Rhys, and this guy here is Loader Bot. The guy dangling down below is, uh…” Rhys called up his Eye’s display again, having forgotten the exact numerals even as they were added to the creature’s profile automatically, since he’d had it up. “…Ro-Man Extension XJ-2. It’s, less of a mouthful when you don’t have a mouth.”

Meanwhile, Loader Bot processed Ro-Man’s questions with a series of mechanical beeping noises of varied tone and complexity. “Internal emotional diagnostic inconclusive. I do not know.” After a moment more of the wind whipping past, he said: “That makes me sad.”

Kashira Lavellan - Riverside - Instinct, the Kid, KOSMOS, Archer, Cassius

Walking slowly towards the river's edge, Kashira watched and listened as those who had chosen to follow this path spoke and demonstrated a little of their abilities. Now it was her turn.

"Thank you," she said, bowing slightly to Instinct, "We all appreciate your gift, I'm sure, and I'll do my best to see that your friends stay safe. You have my word." She took on a thoughtful look. "Does magic in your world come from the moon, then? It sounds quite interesting."

The disagreement between the KOS-MOS and the white-haired man also might use a little help and she caught the old man's eye with a stern frown.

"If you don't believe in innocence," she asked, "What do you believe in? Degrees of guilt? Whatever things are like in your world, this isn't it. People are different here. What is your world like?"

But then the antics of Cassius and his splashing around caught her ear and she glanced over to see him admitting to having lost his shoes. She gave him a bright smile as she lifted one foot to show off the fact that traditional Dalish garb left her own feet mostly bare.

"Join the rest of us who don't feel shoes are needed," she invited him, "I think you'll find it isn't as bad as people say. All the same, I wouldn't keep swimming too long, we don't know if there are rapids or waterfalls on this river."

Theron found himself dithering; on one hand, one of the skeletons decided to ride the weird shapeshifting golem-Aravel, but the other decided to join the group following the river. In the end it was Kashira's decision to follow the river that caused the Grey Warden to follow that group as well.
He walked silently, observing their antics, but also keeping an eye out for trouble.

"Refer to me as 'Ro-Man'! The term you have used is for official communications only," Ro-Man shouted over the wind. If there was a time to enforce messaging protocol, it was definitely now.

And now, back to his own conversation. He didn't honestly understand what this robot meant with his statement, which being the ro-man he is he immediately verbally stated. "How can you be saddened over a perceived lack of emotions? That is the accepted definition of emotional expression!" Was he malfunctioning? Ro-Man was going through his own sort of confusion over emotional states, but such a contradictory statement didn't come off as turmoil and more a straight up error in logic.

"...Have you performed an internal diagnostic lately?" This was an odd feeling, considering the statement he had made just a second ago, but he didn't feel so hot flying with something that was broken in any way.

Meanwhile, Gaige, Sans

Although Sans would unfortunately find that he was unable to set up an account on Twitch due to the fact that he was merely connected to a comm hub and not the internet, he would still be able to download a hastily-crafted app from KOS-MOS Link that could accomplish more or less the same thing. It was an obvious beta of a program with a few minor bugs and without many frills aside from a basic chatbox, but at least it would enable him to start an audio/video stream that other Climbers on the network could connect to. Besides, there were no ads!

As Gaige perused the settings on her own end, she would find a wide variety of useful, if typical, options were available. Options to assign ringtones and speed-dials to others on the Link, customization of voice commands to a surprising depth, a currently-empty ignore list, and so on. Suspiciously, the precise wording of the automated response seemed to have been modified soon after her earlier comments, making it clear that the end-user could now provide input for the number shortcuts by both voice and text.

Riverpath — Emiya, Cassius, Corrin, Claw, and Jaina

KOS-MOS stared after the porcupine-headed man searchingly, trying to calculate how to best go about persuading him. There was definitely some kind of miscommunication going on here, she thought, but she couldn't quite place what it was regardless of how many times she replayed his remarks. Ultimately, she settled on simply explaining her reasoning, in the hopes that she could strike some kind of positive chord with the bowmaster — and if not, at least her position would be clear.

"Even if only the newly born could be called innocent, by the same logic, every single one of us is guilty of something. What is that man guilty of? Forgery, yes, and perhaps even an uncountable number of other crimes we have yet to discover. No matter how great the weight of his deeds, however, no one deserves to be imprisoned and forced to serve unwillingly in such a role for all eternity, nor to be threatened while doing so." Her tone and countenance briefly hardened to the look of one cementing an unyielding promise. "That is why, unless and until such a time as he deliberately betrays us or endangers our lives, I will not cast the first stone, nor will I allow you or anyone else to."

Apparently considering the discussion closed, she turned and stooped efficiently to pick up a certain something on the riverbank. "Your socks and shoes are right here, Cassius. Did you forget?" she asked rhetorically, eyes narrowing the tiniest bit in mirth, "I shall keep them for you until they have properly dried."

Footwear in hand, she finally resumed actually walking downriver. Before moving on to other matters, however, she at last turned to provide a belated answer to Corrin's earlier query, having no trouble keeping pace with the rest while walking backward as she did. "Apologies for the wait," she began with a buoyant smile, "with respect to your question, I have connected her equipment to a long-distance communication network, using myself as a central hub for said network, for the purpose of negating any basic incompatibilities inherent in the various kinds of such technology our group is carrying. As she was a certain kind of celebrity in her own universe by means of widespread transmission of her life experiences in real time, and as her equipment retains the ability to transmit direct visual and audio information from her current position, she is attempting to emulate her now-irrelevant status as celebrity with a much smaller audience, attempting to help us by scouting while keeping up her celebrity persona, or both. I hope this was a sufficient answer to your inquiry."

Internet Narcissism 101 complete, she deftly pivoted back to pacing frontward and addressed Claw and Jaina's concerns. "Facilitating our communications will likely be a very important tool for ensuring our continued survival and progress through the Tower, and maintaining the network requires a vanishingly small percentage of my overall power supply. If I did nothing else to expend energy, I could maintain the network for many years on end before needing to deactivate it. The possibility of other climbers providing sufficient energy in some fashion is a scenario I consider highly unlikely, though it may be worth investigating. That is not a matter of immediate urgency, however, and I believe it would be better to contemplate the intricacies involved after we have secured basic needs such as shelter and food. Nevertheless, thank you both very much for your concern."

"Idiocy," retorts the white-haired man at once, scowl now firmly fixed on Kashira. "I believe in idiocy. The last time I checked, that was a fairly universal constant - and to be perfectly honest, I haven't seen much to contradict it yet. People don't change."

Despite what his hair might suggest, he isn't actually old. It's paint-white, his hair; bleached and spiked instead of graceful and thin, and his muscled physique suggests that he's around his early thirties. His skin is unnaturally brown, as if burnt from inside by something worse than sunlight. The only thing you could call old are his amber eyes, as acrid as rotting lemons in a barnacled jar of brine.

"I don't see how my world has anything to do with this, either. It's me I'm talking about, not my world. What I'm pretty sure people are like, not what they or you or anyone else happens to think they are. If you must know, I don't think my world's very special. Break the rainbowed bubble on top and you'll find yourself neck-deep in what it really is. A cesspool, filled with filth and scum and rotting organs."

His lower lip quirks into the smile that isn't quite a smile, more a twisted curl of disgust.

"I'm the night-soil man," he says. "And don't you fret, Sister Radiohead. I tend to use sharper tools than stones."

Jaina - Proceed

That gave her food for thought. She only idly returned the thumbs Cassius sent her way, casting her gaze once more into the distance.

"I'd be concerned even if you weren't critical to our long distance cohesion as a group." Or however that all worked out. She still didn't quite understand, though she was at least beginning to develop something approaching a thesis statement. It left her with plenty of thought to chew on. She vaguely recalled the tinkering of the more technologically inclined back home. Metal contraptions far less graceful than any she'd seen on this world, but perhaps the concepts translated? The mechanism of generating power was then possibly some sort of electrical impulse.

Evocation she was personally incapable of, but perhaps someone else could. She remembered a noble Orcish warrior and his command of the more primal elements. In fact, his powers seemed similar to that noblesque woman who had summoned wolves of silky midnight. A lead worth at least following up on.

But for now, she mostly consigned herself to silence and walking.

Perhaps it would be best to leave these people to their strange machines, so Corrin simply nodded as if she actually knew what the robot woman was saying. "I doubt you'll have the luxury on using your powers only on that." Claw pointed out, shaking his head as their group moved. He briefly caught sight of the smaller of the two skeletons joining them.

"As for food" It was amazing how such important things were easy to miss. "I have a startling feeling that the locals won't share. We look a little too strange, as a group and individually." The pirate cleared his throat. "There are always illicit means to get some, but that won't warm us up to the folk living here."

"Really, it will be a feat if they don't try to scare us off with torches and pitchforks." And to make matters worse, that white-haired archer was at it again. "Him, I think they might cut his tongue out the moment they hear him." Claw sneered in the direction of the dark-skinned man.
