Can someone more familiar with the source material look through Tangled: The Series to see if all of these entries are valid?

So, does anyone think a Broken Base entry should be added to the Young Justice YMMV regarding Wally's death? I've looked around, and there's a divide on whether or not people want him to come back. You have the people who want him to return because they really hated his death in "Endgame", he's a fan favorite, and feel that there's a lot of foreshadowing for his return (his exact fate is deemed a spoiler that has yet to be revealed and Scarab only said that he "ceased"). Then you have the people who don't want him back at all because they feel that it would cheapen the impact of his death, the characters are shown to be trying to move past his death, and that they feel that people both In and Out of universe should just get over it and move on. I don't really know because I'm not exactly thorough when it comes to this, so I'd like further input on if their really is a wide divide within the fanbase or if I'm just looking in the wrong places.

From YMMV.Emerald City.

  • Broken Base: As to be expected with a Darker and Edgier reimagining of the source material. Fans of the original books are interested to see what will be covered, as most adaptations are infamous for only going through the first book, the second if it's particularly lucky and not much else. Also some like that Dorothy is a more active participant this time around. On the other hand, with the popularity of The Wicked Years and the wave of grittier adaptations of childrens' books, there's concern that it could indulge in the sexual and violent excesses Wicked was known for, particularly in the original book. And as always, what fan favorite Ozma will be like in this version as her male form is confirmed to exist.

From YMMV.Land Of Oz:

  • Broken Base:
    • Fans of the books, smaller in number as they are, tend to look down on fans of the 1939 film, especially if the particular movie fan makes it very obvious they've never picked up an Oz book in their lives, if they even know that they exist. Most Oz book fans like the movie well enough, and the overwhelming majority likely saw the movie first before reading the books, but get irritated over how the film has overshadowed the books and forced them into Mainstream Obscurity, and how every subsequent Oz adaptation has to be based on the movie or risk becoming a box office bomb like Return to Oz. Likewise, fans of the movie might view the book fans as snobbish.
    • Even within fans of the books, opinions vary on any of the Oz books published after L. Frank Baum's death, and whether they should be considered canon or not.
    • The Wicked Years is likewise very divisive among Oz fans; purists hate it, but some are open-minded enough to accept it as a non-canon alternate interpretation. Most Dystopian Oz adaptations are divisive among fans, but to a lesser degree than Wicked due to its popularity.

The Emerald City example sounds like it was added pre-release, so it should be cut. The first Land of Oz example sounds more like Fandom Rivalry, the second example sounds more like Contested Sequel or Only the Creator Does It Right, though the third sounds valid.

Does this look valid for YMMV.Cinderella Rodgers And Hammerstein?

  • Base-Breaking Character: Viewers of the 1997 version either love Brandy's Cinderella for her outspoken attitude, or dismiss Brandy as one of the weakest actors ever to star in an R&H musical.

Too unspecific to be of any use for now, and I don't dabble in musicals so I have no piece to add on this.

From YMMV.My Little Pony:

  • Broken Base:
    • Between the generations. The most common is My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic vs Any-other-gen-in-the-series; several bronies consider themselves only fans of G4, and not My Little Pony fans. Though anything post-G1 is guaranteed to get hate from even the classic fans
    • Though G3 has a niche fandom with those drawn to the series since My Little Pony Tales for it's Slice of Life format, who considers anything prior to Tales unwatchable and are against the direction taken by G4 Season 2.
    • Even G4 has it's own broken base. Again, it's a battle between those who love the show for being hip and for it's pop-culture references (drew there due to Lauren Faust helming the series) versus existing viewers from G3 who love the franchise for it's Slice of Life format. It gets worse than that. What about the fans who loathe the toy line and all toy ponies vs the ones who want them to appear in the cartoon?
    • There is one between the fans who only pay attention to the toys and dislike (or are at least neutral on) the adaptations, fans who like the cartoons but don't care for the toys, and fans who like both.

Found this on YMMV.Bubblegum Crisis:

  • Broken Base: Which incarnation of BGC is better - the original 1980s version or the 2040 reboot? Fans were quite passionate about this back in the day.

I'm not familiar with this series, but the second sentence implies that this isn't a hotly-debated issue anymore.

Broken Base does allow for historical examples if they got heated and protracted enough. Fandoms aren't eternal.
