I'm enjoying it, it's incredibly comfy. I want to create a page for it once I finish the game, I'm on like Day 5. Some people may be annoyed that the game has more than a few 4chan references, but most of them don't feel obnoxious (as most of them are from reading the all-female 4chan that apparently exists in the future).
Considering that the devs of this game are from Venezuela and what's been happening there, I'm surprised this game got finished at all.
Fight for something, even if its meaningless.thankfully, the 4chan references are passing over my head since i'm so unfamiliar with it.
i'm somewhat surprised that the game is fairly mature with all the topics people bring up, but i'm not against it; after all, cyberpunk is a genre that may use flashy robots and kickass cybernetics, but at its core it's still a genre that's about the human experience.
all in all, for not being, and i quote "Papers Please - Cyberpunk Waifu Bartending Edition" (-sedmikrasky), it's quite enjoyable. not what i expected, but fun nonetheless!
[forum cryptid: it/it's]While I am greatly enjoying the story, I will admit some of the references are rather forced. My main complaint is how almost every character design is a direct shout-out to something with almost no subtly. At least they all have original personalities.
Also, as someone who browses 4chan regularly (yes, I do hate myself), I can say that a majority of the danger/u/ threads feel almost copy and pasted from /v/ threads. It's actually pretty funny, especially because the people on /v/ aren't too happy about it.
I enjoyed it a lot. The fact that I missed the last target was incredibly frustrating (I was, like, less than a hundred bucks short!), but it was because I went on a shopping bender so I have no one to blame but myself.
I liked the story and most of the characters, but I'm ultimately not thrilled about the bartending. It felt samey, so much so that I don't really have the patient to tries for another ending.
I've been watching a let's play on youtube of this and it looks really good. I'd have already bought it, but $15 is a touch steep for me and it's too new for it to be on the Summer Sale. It is definitely on my list. Also, thanks to whoever is doing the Works page, I was planning on starting it myself before you said anything.
normally im chill as fuck about spoilers, like if i know a game is gonna take a while to beat i wont care if i see shit on its page here
but im strangely reluctant to look at anything for this one
its so nice

Know what I love about the characters?
They're fantastically real, but all of them still have a touch of cyberpunk fantasy to them that keeps them entertaining even when they're talking about mundane things.
I wish this didnt come out right when the summer sale started, because everyone is talking about everything else.
Well this is a pleasant surprise. VA-11 HALL-A is getting a standalone sequel in the form of a new game, titled N 1 RV Ann-A!

this came out yesterday and i picked it up on a whim. the title is a bit of a misnomer since it's really a visual novel and the bartending is hilariously easy.
aside from the "action" being not really there (so far; i haven't played all that much yet), it's pretty much Exactly What It Says on the Tin, with the added interest that you get a bunch of different stories from the various patrons. it looks like it's going to tie some of them together in various ways.
was wondering if anyone else had picked this up yet.
the binary text on day two of the augmented eye reads "THE RETRIBUTION IS CO-"
