Ooh, good point. Went ahead and made that change.
@tbarrie: There is such a place. With confirmation now, I will make a bug report.
@TheNohrianDarkKnight: You are quite late to the party. Darth was removed from the crowner due to being quite unpopular.
@supergod: On the original crowner I had proposed, there was an option to rename. It was removed from the crowner as no one had proposed any new names.
To update the wick total, we are now below the 1700 mark.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportI think more examples are needed now. Even if 3 is the minimum, 7 is quite too few.
There is nothing stopping you from adding more examples if you can find the accompanying Word of God.
By the way, I added the Word of God requirement to the definition since that seriously should not be hidden in an edit note.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Edit: Disregard.

The page image is no longer a valid example and should be removed. It's not in-universe and not supported by Word of God. In fact, it's an example of why this trope has been de-fanged (complaining). Also the description should be rewritten because a viewer's figuring no longer comes into it.
Edit: Image is removed now.

I've removed the image and all quotes that do not fit the new definition.

Regarding times when I used this trope to describe a sub-par Remaster, that didn't even look like it had enough effort to fall under Digital Destruction, would linking to pictures and/or a review count as enough evidence?
No.
Remember, we're trying to curb the complaining here, not host it.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Besides, we've already got Digital Destruction for cases where an attempt at a Remaster does more harm than good, and Vanilla Edition for cases where the core content is provided as-is, with no effort at cleaning it up or offering extra content. We don't need to be shoehorning examples into a third, far less applicable trope.
It might be worthwhile to point to tropes like that in the description as where to do with an example where there's no Word of God (yet)—so somebody trying to figure out where to stick an example like the out-of-order comic can more easily find the correct page.
It doesn't seem like it's been floated, but right now the page looks more than a bit awkward and accidentally self-demonstrating. Maybe splitting it into an exampleless supertrope/index and a page with examples with Word of God should happen at some point. (I'd suggest keeping They Just Didn't Care for the supertrope/index, and the examples get a name like Creator Apathy.)

Down to less than 900 wicks. All entries on YMMV pages that were misused are cut.
This entry was just added:
- Stories from Action 52 developers confirmed that the president of Active Entertainment, Vince Perri, turned around the monstrosity in a mere three months with a team of four developers, at least three of whom were just college students. The fact that the game was marketed at $200 was merely the cherry on top, the expectation alone was unrealistic to an extreme degree. To put one buggy, incomplete, and broken game on sale in that timeframe is already a tall order (as seen with the Atari 2600 rendition of Pac-Man) but this was a compilation of fifty-two games.
Thoughts? Unattributed "stories" doesn't strike me as valid Word of God.
I'd say it's too focused on complaints and fails to cite if the producer didn't care or was overconfident.
Ditto for the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial example.
I'd be for cutting.

Too late for that; we already decided the fate of this trope and we're in the middle of the cleanup process.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportI agree, the ET example doesn't sound like it belongs either.
It sounds like they cared well enough, they just needed it out quickly. And while the game has gained quite a bad reputation because of what happened to the industry, that did not happen in a vacuum, it was just the final straw. I grew up with that game, and it stood out among Atari games for at least trying to have a story and a world and even recognizable characters, which is more than most, which were mostly basic arcade ports populated by colored blocks. Somebody most definitely cared, even if it didn't matter.

I think the name is still too complain-y. What about Creator's Apathy?
I don't think it's working as a Trivia trope.
Why Not?
If we leave the name as is, the trope will still see complaining potholes/sinkholes (I gather that's 97's reason?). Thus, I second the rename idea. The suggestion in 96 is a good start.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportWe're not getting a lot of examples due to tightening control on it to be Word of God confirmation. I feel like if something is obviously the case (like one season of a cult favorite anime being dubbed, but the rest not for example), even without Word of God, some examples should not require Word of God.
Crown Description:
What would be the best way to fix the page?
Again, 3 is the minimum number of examples necessary for a trope, plus the Word of God requirement will help curb the complaining.
Can we talk about the subtrope list? I'd rather rebrand it as "Related Tropes" since several of the listed tropes are about isolated incidents instead of stuff that affects the quality of the entirety of the work (e.g. Special Effects Failure and Off-Model), mistakes can happen (Tyop on the Cover), and stuff like Christmas Rushed can be caused by Executive Meddling or deadlines.
