Guys, I saw this last night and it Freaked. Me. Out.
What's more, what if it's legit? What if Death Stranding is that whole "The Phantom Pain is definitely not a Metal Gear game, oh wait yes it is" thing all over again?!

Yeah, but get this, after that revelation the video made regarding how there's a second voice in the radio that mentions an umbilical cord, I saw the Game Grumps' playthrough of P.T. and I realized I can't unhear the second voice talking about the umbilical cord.
That's never happened before...o_o
As intriguing as this is, I actually hope that Death Stranding isn't the new Silent Hills. I know what to expect from a Silent Hills game, more or less, whereas Death Stranding not only looks more original, it also looks like something that will be plenty interesting in it's own right as a separate property.
Death Stranding has more potential to be interesting and original than Silent Hills. It'd be a bit of a letdown if this were all just another masterful Hideo Kojima ruse.
Think about it. This is Kojima's first chance in a long time to work on a completely original IP Kojima came up with himself. He can do anything. As awesome as Silent Hills would be- judging from how PT was received- I'd much rather see Kojima pursue his own project.

yeyHe! No reason it can't be a Spiritual Successor, for a game that was never made.
But, I dunno, I'm not happy without Guillermo Del Toro.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Given Kojima and del Toro like one-another, I don't suppose there's anything stopping them working with one-another. I don't know that Death Stranding is that project- probably not- but in the future I'd say it's more than likely. After all, Kojima kept Norman Reedus on call for Death Stranding after Silent Hills fell through. No reason why he couldn't do a similar thing with a future project involving Guillermo.
Del Toro's out of game development for now. He's been burnt too many times. Although he also said he'd follow Brojima anywhere, so Mixed Signals everywhere. He's probably busy with Pacific Rim 2 anyway.
Well, del Toro just started filming a Cold War drama yesterday, so. The man always seems to have at least three projects going at any given time.

Makes you wonder how does he juggle them all...
Anyway, could Brojima be hinting at another cast member for Death Stranding (if it isn't Silent Hills in disguise)?

The secret is that most take a while to get greenlit, if ever.
I bet that Instagram post was super intended.
Brojima is such a Magnificent Bastard Trolling Creator.
Lookit. Lil' chibi Norman Reedus poking chibi maybe-Mads Mikkelsen with a metaphorical-and-literal stick.
I lookit-ed. I also lookit at Chibi Guillermo Del Toro, Norman Reedus, Brojima, and maybe-Mads Mikkelsen (very subtle Kojima-sensei) doing 4-person jump rope with each other. (If that's even possible). Did anyone else think that was cute/hilarious?
Sure.
Yong goes over the contents of the announcement with his typical thoroughness. A lot of it is a verbal re-stating by Kojima of stuff he's said in written media- interviews with entertainment magazines, etc.
Main points are that Death Stranding is going to be first and foremost an action game, but with special emphasis paid to the concept of "ropes" and how they are to feature in the game. In addition to "sticks", i.e. weapons, there will be "ropes", or things that bind players together.
It will be open world, but in a strange sort of way where the player can still enjoy the story. Not sure what that means. There will also be "online elements" as well as some degree of coop, which I think is the part that ties into the "rope" concept. Perhaps this game will have some Dark Souls-esque world invasion feature or similar, but that's just my guess.
It's kinda slim pickings, with not a lot of new information that we haven't seen elsewhere, but before he left the stage Kojima said that he'd be at TGS on September 18th. There's gonna be stuff there about Death Stranding that he can't talk about just now, so we just gotta wait for that.
I'm seriously jazzed about this.

yey

Does this mean Laura Bailey's gonna be part of the main cast in Death Stranding?
