Entry 14
@Hamza678: >Leave the room, go on a bridge.
You return back to the main room and then proceed across the left bridge, picking arbitrarily. The bridge sways a bit as you try to cross it, but otherwise it seems safe. The bridge path seems to go on and on, occasionally punctuated by a small pillar rising from below. The purplish light at the end grows ever stronger, and you can barely see the outlines of some of the laser-like lines that have etched themselves into the stone. From this, you can barely see the platform at the far end of the room, along with two adjacent hallways.
You begin to hear whispering voices about three quarters of the way there.
The whispers seem to go on and on, growing stronger as you approach the purplish light.
@Savage1337: > Search the campfire area for anything useful.
You proceed ahead towards the campfire area. As you get close, you see several round wooden huts gathered nearby. Several humans, dressed in furs, turn towards you. A few of them back away, murmuring to themselves.
One man, wearing an elaborate feathered headdress steps forward, wielding a heavy club that glows with orange light. His chest is laid bare, his body and face are adorned with markings, and two hand-axes are strapped to his side.
He looks at you and says, “You there, outsider! How have you come so far into these lands past the watch of Manta and Akkarel?”
Many of the villagers begin to murmur ever louder upon hearing their leader’s remarks. The glow from his club becomes ever stronger, consolidating into a disk-like shape. Out of the periphery of your vision, you see a few warriors in the shadows begin to ready their bows on you.
@DrNoPuma & @InfintyRyujin: As the two of you continue to converse between yourselves, a strange, cool wind whooshes across you from the east. The campfire nearby becomes extinguished, and the two of you hear a deep humming sound coming all around you. A gray mist begins to form within the area.
Without warning, a skeletal hand reaches out of the ground for Bamard’s leg, followed by the clacking of the rest of the skeleton. The area to the east also starts to become obscured by fog, and the brook starts to turn black. Many glowing eyes start to peer out from within the fog.

@Savage1337: > Explain my situation and say that I mean no harm to anyone.
You attempt to explain yourself to the chieftain figure, mentioning how you got arbitrarily transported to some random pyramid and then wandered into an undead bog.
He replies, “So you did not come from the sea after all, but if so, then where did you come from?
“I know of no bog where the dead men rise, but there is one place where such things might happen. It is said there are lands on this island which no man may enter. Once a man passes through the cloudy mist, they are never seen again. The land of the dying, we call it.
“None of us can say what lies beyond those white mists. Yet if you did not come by sea or sky as you say, then have you truly seen what lies beyond?”

@Savage1337: > Say I haven't, but if it holds the way out, than that's where's I'll head.
“I am still not sure what you mean by that, but if you wish to find the mists, then you must head towards the Pazkuz Peaks down yonder.”
As he says this, the chieftain waves his club ahead and to your right.
“The journey is long, and you may run into tribes less willing to cooperate. The Kukul Clan lays claim to most of the lower basin, and they may take you as captive instead of letting you be on your way.
“Go now. You will find much of the land to be plentiful.”
@Hamza678: >Ignore the voices until I reach the end.
You continue across the bridge until you reach the end. Just as you reach ground once more, the circle of purple light begins to dim, and you can now see the large gem it’s radiating from.
The gem also seems to be the centerpiece of a massive, arched doorway, with a variety of strange glyphs etched on it. On each side, you also see a number of human figures carved in the stone. Each one of them faces towards the central doorway, resting on their shins with their arms raised forward.
After a few seconds, the purplish laser lines begin to illuminate the doorway’s glyphs. The gem briefly glows brighter, and the gem begins to turn clockwise. You hear deep rumbling, and the gem begins to rise higher. The two halves of the doorway begin to slide back into the walls, and you can see a large chamber with two hulking statues standing on the back end. Between them, you see a small, upright sarcophagus standing upon a raised dais, which has a series of glowing magical circles around it. Other than that, much of the floor seems to be lined with dust and ash.
As you take this all in, more series of magical lines spread out from the center and creep along the walls, until the statues’ eyes and a large gem between them begin glowing as well. Suddenly, a puff of gas shoots out of the sarcophagus’s sides.
The whispering begins to stop, and you hear a new voice call out to you. Some of the lines and lights begin to flicker as the voice speaks.
“Wha? What is all this? Am I… There’s… Where is everybody?
“You… Are you…? Wait, just who are you?”

@Hamza678: >Introduce myself to the voice.
“Sanjay… Huh.
“Oh, I am called Kaiya, I think. Everything looks so different. I don’t think I’ve ever seen whatever it is you’re carrying.
“Wait, does that mean you’re an outsider then?”
@Savage1337: > Thank the chief and head off.
You proceed to head off in the direction the chieftain pointed in, leaving the campsite behind.
You walk on for miles and miles it seems. The forest doesn’t seem to show any signs of ending. However, at some point, the trees suddenly just stop, and you find yourself overlooking a small cliff, where you can see more forest lying far beyond. Far, far ahead, you think you can see more fire, along with flickers of purplish light. Just underneath you, you also see an opening to a cave.

@InfinityRyujin & @DrNoPuma: >Shoot the skeleton's arm
-POW!-
The bone instantly shatters upon contact with Toki’s projectile. However, the skeleton still continues to rise from the ground unimpeded. As Toki struggles to take aim, the skeleton lunges at Bamard, before shattering from another one of Toki’s bullets. Some of the shattered bone lodges itself into Bamard’s fur, but for the most part, he’s still standing, though injured.
A trio of fiery skulls then emerge from the fog, hurling a barrage of fireballs at the two travelers. Following them, several bloated corpses begin to emerge as well, shambling towards you.
As this happens, the black brook begins to bubble. Several visceral, grotesque limbs begin to lunge out from their midst, growing ever longer by the second.
A thick, sickening gas lingers through the air, and the droning becomes ever stronger.
@Savage1337: > Makeshift a torch and try to find a way into cave.
You quickly search around for any way to ease your descent down the cliff-side. Fortunately for you, you easily find a part of the cliff where the descent is more gentle, and begin to climb down it.
You then head straight for the spot where you found the cave. Luckily, you can see the light of a torch ensconced on the side of the tunnel. You sneak up to it, grab it from its post, and then continue on in. As far as you can tell, there doesn’t seem to be anyone in here, though you do see a few drawings on the walls.
As you head on in, you begin to hear water dripping. At some point the cave briefly forks off to the side, where you can see a bit of scattered fur. Further up ahead, you notice a shift in the way the tunnel has been carved off; the tunnel suddenly starts to grow wider, and there is a small ridge in where the tunnel has been dug.
As you continue on, the tunnel eventually drops off, and opens up in to a large grotto, with stalagmites and stalactites accentuating the ground below. As far as you can tell, there doesn’t seem to be anything in here, but you do see a dim bluish light coming from the back end of the cave. For whatever reason, your light doesn’t seem to stretch much beyond the little aperture you’re in.

@Savage1337: >Explore grotto.
You climb down into the grotto, leaving the torch in a conveniently placed sconce behind you. Much of the grotto is filled with puddles of water and other residue. You do happen to see a few bone piles nearby, but you decide to continue on nevertheless. The bone piles themselves do not seem to contain many valuables. You also see bits of crispy carcass-like material strewn all over the floor.
As you approach the glowing end of the cavern, you see a number of glowing, bluish, glass-like crystal tubes. Towards this end, you also see a large tunnel submerged in water, going downward. You cannot quite tell where this leads to, but you also see a few markings written above it, though it seems to be illegible.
From this position, you can also see a few bats resting in the high parts of the cave.
@DrNoPuma: >Charge at trio of skulls
@InfinityRyujin: >Reload, and shoot at the flaming skulls
As Toki reloads his gun, Bamard rushes at the flying skulls. A few fireballs slam against the ground nearby, but Bamard runs past them. Just when the skulls seem to be in reach, Bamard leaps and swings at one of them, only for the skull to swiftly glide back and blast Bamard with another fireball. As the impact launches the bear back, one of the other skulls follows up with another fiery blast, searing most of his fur and skin.
Meanwhile, Toki has finished reloading his gun and takes aim at the three skulls. Although one of the shots hits a skull dead on, the bullet seemingly phases through the skull. Another skull simply dodges one of the bullets, and then turns its attention towards Toki.
As much as Toki attempts to evade, the skull blasts the ground right ahead of him, launching him a bit into the air. A second or so later, Toki lands towards the corrupted brook. One of the appendages nearby suddenly explodes in a splash of acid, some of which lands on Toki and sears into the point of impact.
Despite the damages, Toki still has quite a bit of fight left in him, though Bamard’s status is slightly more dire. The zombie-like creatures begin to shamble closer, now only a few yards away from Bamard. It may be wise to reevaluate your strategy. Note: I do have plans for what happens when characters die, so if the situation might seem a bit dire, don’t worry too much if you happen to make a mistake. Also, there may or may not be a way to get rid of the skulls and the other undead.

So, I still have the plants? Will eating some heal me, even if only a little bit?
(laugh) "I guess that was a little foolish!"

Please make this canon, DC. I love the idea of the Joker and Harley's hyenas acting like them.@DrNoPuma: No, the plants will not heal you unless they have specific, preferably magical, properties that allow them to do so. It is possible that you can regain health by resting or something like it, but it won't be by much, and you'll probably want to get away from any enemies while you do so. Alternatively, you can heal via magical healing powers, but it's very unlikely that you'll be getting that stuff anytime soon.

@Hamza678: > Ask Kaiya about the other voices.
“Other voices? I’m not sure what you’re talking about.”
You try to explain your situation to Kaiya, mentioning the strange chant the voices were saying.
“Cycle? Yes, the cycle must be complete. But whatever became of it? Did we… I don’t…”
As you converse, you hear a strange droning sound coming from above, along with what sounds like explosions.
“Wha… what was that? I-I don’t remember how to move! Something is wrong! I feel a disturbance in the ethereal realm! Sanjay, do you think you can find and activate the disruption circle? Or, if you can’t, can you at least find me a more portable vessel?”
@InfinityRyujin: > Try to think of what the undead could be weak to.
You can’t say for certain what these things are weak to without knowing how magic functions in this world. On a more intuitive basis, you’d assume some sort of holy spell or holy ritual might help ward them off, but that’s assuming undead are weak to those things, and that there is a specifically holy element in this universe. Water might help douse the flames but these flames seem magical in nature. Speaking of which, you haven’t really tried employing any magical attacks against these things, though you don’t really know how to do so.
Perhaps it might be a better idea to retreat for now, and find some place where you might be able to receive protection against these things.
@Savage1337: >Examine the glowing crystal tubes.
You approach some of the strange crystaline “tube-like” structures. Whether or not you’ve actually seen something similar depends on where you’ve come from, though they seem somewhat similar in functionality to glowing mushrooms. Despite their glass-like shape, they don’t seem to be embedded into the ground, instead merely attached to it. You might be able to rip one off the ground if you’re careful about it, though you don’t know whether doing so will trigger any adverse effects. It’s hard to tell what other properties these things might have without further examining them.
