Hi, hello, welcome in!

Wait, how did I get here? Who are you, what is this?

This is We Have All Been Gender Flipped, or WHABGF, for short!

WHABGF started out as a forum game centered around a concept that was Exactly What It Says on the Tin, but grew into a freeform RP with enough plot, continuity, and players to warrant the shift into the formal RP it is today.

That’s great. What’s it about?

I’m glad you asked! WHABGF is a low Urban Fantasy set in what’s essentially our own world, but with a few changes here and there.

All right, how do I join?

That’s easy. All you need to do is read through this post, hand in a character sheet to the GM’s of the game, and wait for us to approve it (which shouldn’t take all that long) and then jump in.

Who are these GM's you speak of?

I'm glad you asked! the current GM's are myself, Immortal Faust, 4maskwolf (who uses the alt-account Karma Chameleon from time to time since "4maskwolf" doesn't wiki word correctly), and Lectro Underground. We're all happy to answer any questions you have about rules or gameplay or whatnot.

     The Rules 

Above all, DON’T BE A DICK.

This game is for fun. Everyone here is in it to create and explore a world of our own creation, not to piss, moan, bicker, and fight. If things aren’t going the way you want them to, ''that’s ok’’ but please, act civilly.

Do not import drama

Just like the rest of the site, we won’t appreciate it if you bring your personal beefs into the game. When you submit your character sheet to the GMs, make sure to include the phrase “My Wall” at the end (yes, this is a requirement). Don’t attack another player because you don’t like them, don’t treat their character badly IC because you find them irritating, keep any external conflicts external. We don’t want to deal with it and we will ban you for that behavior.

Please ask the GM’s permission before adding in new ideas, mechanics, powers, or anything not previously discussed about your character to them.

We really don’t care if you want to introduce a new concept or idea to your character; no one ever gets every single thing they want to incorporate into their character on the character sheet in one go, but adding in new things without prior warnings can seriously screw everything up. It’s easier to ask permission than beg forgiveness here.

No Autohits, No Godmodding, No “No Sells” or Ghosting

Autohitting is the act of phrasing an attack so that the target has no way to avoid it ( “john aimed the gun at amy and shot her in the face”). This sort of thing is not allowed, and can severely disrupt the game. to K.I.S.S; ‘’do not phrase any attack actions with the assumption that you actually hit the target’’.

God Modding: In the world, you control your character(s) and any NPC’s that you have created or been given permission to control. Godmodding is when you make declarations about someone else’s NPC’s, characters, plotlines, or major game concepts without permission. This is an issue for players as it wrestles creative control away from the person who is playing the character along with shutting options down for that player when they respond.

No Sell tactics are the converse of autohitting; phrasing your reaction to an attack or other action so that you are able to (unfairly) avoid damage. if something is unavoidable, don’t pretend like it is. There is a rather fine line here as power levels are tricky and arbitrary; when in doubt, ask. Ghosting, in the same vein, is acting as if you don't notice an attack or otherwise endlessly dodging out of the way of attacks, even in the event that it would normally hit.

These sorts of thing are frowned upon and are considered gamebreaking and cheating, and will warrant a talking-to at first offense and other repercussions upon repeated action.

No Sex.

This should go without saying, given that this is a site rule, but please don’t toe the line on this issue. Nothing on-screen, nothing that leads up to fade-to-black, although subtle implications are fine please don’t get out of hand. None of us want this game to be shut down because of violations of the site rules, so please, keep it relatively PG-13 as far as sex goes.

Before you ask, yes, the same goes for anything fetishy. We don’t really care what your kinks are, but this isn’t the place for it.

ABSOLUTELY NO RAPE. EVER

Again, this should go without saying, and it never happened in the original WHABGF, but seeing as other RP’s have had this issue, we’re going to take the time to mention it here. ‘’’Just don’t do it. We mean it. Violation of this rule will result in an instant blacklisting from the game.

We’d also like to take this time to point out that the topics of torture and suicide are generally off-limits in the game, as we’ve found from past GM experience that they are rarely handled well and tend to cause problems for other players.

     Characters 

As stated before, WHABGF is a low urban fantasy, with an emphasis on magic, the supernatural, the paranormal, and The Masquerade present within the game world. We’re all pretty happy to have a variety of characters from different mythological backgrounds show up but we do have a few basic guidelines to go along with it;

In general, we ask that you play a character with the opposite gender that you yourself have, keeping in line with the spirit of the original game. Seeing as the major plot point of 1.0 was originally to try and regain or at the least figure out why the gender change had happened, it makes sense to keep that aspect in the game, even if the title is slightly archaic. exceptions 

No generalist magic users. A generalist, according to google’s definition, is “a person competent in several different fields or activities.” in short, a jack of all trades who is useful in literally any situation that arises. We have issues with these sorts as they tend to have some way or another to solve every issue that comes up. We’ll let you know if we see your character as a generalist and guide you away from that.

Keep things realistic (within the terms). WHABGF is set in the current day, and as a rule, no technology should exceed the current limitations of modern-day advancements. In short, we don’t want to see magitech items or super-advanced constructs running around; it breaks the tone of the game and frankly, is just too hard to work with.

Keep your characters relatively personable. We aren’t going to let you show up fielding a sociopath or outright antisocial (note that we’d like to make it a point that asocial characters, played well, are acceptable) character; there’s not a whole lot you can do with a character right off the bat and it’s very hard to justify why they’d decide to stick around with the player crowd.

In all situations, it’s up to us to deem what is acceptable and unacceptable on a player-to-player basis. That being said, do not give up hope just because your first character was rejected: we’ll do our best to give you an exact reason for why the character was rejected, and we encourage you to form another character idea with that feedback in mind. As scary as we may seem, we’re on your side and want you to join in our game, so if you have any specific questions or want to discuss the character’s rejection in greater detail please don’t hesitate to ask.

Weaknesses: (What would your character struggle with? Examples include various phobias, crippled limbs, etc.)

Abilities: (What could your character pull off that average citizens might not? Examples could include shapeshifting, spells, etc. Think things that mere citizens might not achieve normally, so being a darned good swordsman probably would land in strengths instead.)

Just to clarify, our in-game characters' natural born gender have been flipped to our irl's opposite right?

in short, yes.

longer answer; to a degree; in 1.0, you would play as yourself, the troper, who had suddenly found him/herself as the opposite sex, but that whole thing fell to the wayside as people started creating actual characters for the game as opposed to jumping into the game as themselves.

as a note we have a large reserve of players already confirmed from the 1.0 version (that's a forum game) and this is the first time i've ever tried doing anything on this scale (building an rp from scratch) so please bear with me and the rest of us as we figure all the things out.

  • Name: Alexios Palaiologos (Ἀλέξιος Παλαιολόγος), better known as Alex

  • Age: 585

  • Gender: Male

  • Species: 3rd generation Human Vampire

  • Personality:

    • Due to Alex's history as being a relative of a Roman Emperor, and forced into a life as an Orthodox Monk, he has lived a life of simple pleasure and modesty. Pacifism, self-observation and reflection are the three vows he took, and in his dead state he still observes these.

    • His main pleasure in life is one of observation, and recording so others may read on from what he has written. Due to this, he has a very plain and factual way of speaking, and a very plain way of dressing.

    • Due to what he once was, he is always stoic and holds himself to the school of cynicism, always holding that his nature as eternal and never ending should be as he is, knowing that there is the opportunity for him to either embrace his new nature a beast or human held back by nothing, he chooses to be human and know that there is much he can teach others, with them knowing nothing of what he is.

  • Appearance:

    • The most prominant part of Alex is that he is quite tall, measuring perhaps 2 meters in height. His body though is fairly thin, not particularly muscular and seems to have barely had any fat on him. His skin is reasonably dark, almost sand-like, but appears to have paled due to the lack of natural blood in his body.

    • His hair is jet black, and made into a basic combover with not much care, seemingly just to keep it neat. His scalp shows some faint signs of necrosis, namely a gentle blue tint under a few hairs.

    • His neck shows a faint, beak shaped wound on one side and the gentle outline of a beak on the otherside, made of lacerations which seem to have had some work done to them.

    • A wound on his chest is still visible and shows dead muscle and necrotic skin, with some blood being shown from where the wound once was. The wound shows an almost bestial attempt on him, shaped as a large bite mark which successfully got into him.

    • His eyes are dead, showing a faint red taint to them, his irises a dark red and both seem to be permenantly dry, although they are not.

    • Because of all this, he wears a suit to hide the wound, and if need be his old kalimavkion, and may in some circumstances replace the suit with a robe.

  • Backstory:

    • Alex was born of a sister of John VIII Palaiologos in 1431, and due to Roman desire to keep male relatives out of the line of succession, he was sent to a Monastery so that he might succeed as Patriarch of Constantinople, but largely so being out of the way and being unable to produce any sons of his own, he would be out of the way.

    • Being raised with an education in theology, being a Prince and reading though the Mirrors for Princes, he would find himself recording the history of the Greek peoples under rule of the Osman Sultans, and in recording this history he would find himself with experience in languages other than Latin and Greek, finding himself learning some Turkish, Bulgarian and Italian while still alive.

    • But his life as a monk was to change one night in 1451, and he found himself attacked by one speaking the Turkish language, with a growl and finding himself seemingly dying.

    • In his last moments, he saw something.

    • The one he so worshiped told him that the one who bit him had given in to his inner beast, but in doing so would allow him to live another life, because the one who attacked him had no control and would feel genuine remorse when he understood what he had done.

    • The one he worshiped told him to simply let others be as good as they can through what they are, and what that means shall be Alex's choices. Through this ambiguous wording, Alex would later come on to develop his own ways of thinking, because of what he would later learn he is.

    • After this, he would wake up and see that he was infact still alive. Whether that was divine intervention or simply his own mind trying to justify what had happened, Alex had become something else... but did not realise what.

    • The one who had bitten him would soon wake and reveal what he was, namely he was a vampire. He revealed his name as Kemal, and that he had given in to his instincts, and that in biting Alex as happened, he had created a son and not killed an innocent human who did not deserve to be bitten.

    • Kemal would reveal that what was seen by Alex is his own vision of what lays beyond the afterlife, and with it the force that drives everything which is held by magic. What Kemal saw when he was turned and what Alex saw are two different things, but each

    • Alex was now something new. Eternal. Recurring. Everbeing. Through this, he had his own mission, and would develop on what he was, what he is and what he shall be.

  • Strengths: His strengths are his literary skills, his memory for language and his skill for argument.

  • Weaknesses:

    • Being unemotional and having seen it all, he does not give a damn and will let anything pass him by. Having seen what he thinks is the truth, he tends to car far less about death than many others. And having seen it all, he's unable to really act and will just accept anything happening.

    • He also needs to feed on blood, and has this hunger too him which while he is used to, is a constant reminder of what he is. He can stave it off with tomato juice or bloody meat, but neither will allow him use of his powers.

    • His wound is also plainly visible, and could easily give away what he is, hence why he wears a dark suit. Even if it can be ripped.

  • Abilities:

    • There are three types of powers: A light and selfless one, darker ones which can be thought of as good, and dark ones which can be thought of as evil. The first takes any blood he has within him, which he feeds from. The second of the groups take blood which is consented to be taken, the last takes blood which is forcibly taken in combat.

    • The first of these is simply the healing of another using his own blood, sacrificing a part of himself so he might heal another. This takes either kind of blood.

    • The second sort, darker powers which can be thought of as good, are three in particular.

      • The first is being able to see ghosts, spirits and other spiritual beings, being able to commune with them and being able to aid them. This takes little blood but has to be blood which is consented to.

      • The second is being able to send a ghost or spirit into death properly and sending them on peacefully, and in doing so letting them leave their existence in this world entirely.

      • The third is being able to hold a person who shall soon die from dying for a short while, letting them have peace before they do die, and allowing him to record their last wishes before they do go, being able to die in peace and not in pain. A person who is held alive by this power though may stay alive for exactly 168 hours after it being used on them, being made into a willing servant for Alex in order to say thank you for what he has allowed them to do. Once this time is up, they shall die and go beyond this world, in peace. This will drain Alex of all consensually given blood he has, but does not disable him and allows him a short period in which to get some more before his hunger starts returning in full force.

    • The third group are darker powers which can be thought of as evil.

      • The first of these powers is being able to inflict a massive amount of pain on a creature, to such a degree that it may stun an opponent.

      • The second of these allows him to strike much faster with any weapon he has, if he has none then punches can do the same.

      • The third of these allows him to raise a dead being and forces them to act as a fighter for him in combat, under his direct command and without question. Use of this though will mean he faints for 72 hours straight, and is unable to respond until he wakes up again in the same place.

  • Miscellaneous information: Should he experience three days of sunlight without having had blood, tomato juice or raw meat to keep his hunger at bay, he will die a second death. This time is not reset on being inside for a day, but he does need to be exposed to it outside, or from a window which is not covered by curtains or other ways of keeping it dark in a room.

  • Equipment: His suit, a bag of a few items for religious services, copies of the Bible in Byzantine Greek, Middle German and Latin, a few particular older books, his quill and ink, a notepad and pen, and an ink cartridge for a typewriter, and packs of tomato juice and raw meats which may or may not be rotting.

Name: Mikaela Konk

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Species: Human

Personality: Mikaela considers herself a samurai, and tries to act very brave and noble to show this off. However, she's actually very awkward and kind of a geek. She often finds herself unable to express things when talking to a relatively new face, tends to be incredibly over-the-top with many things, and is often gushing about a video games/anime/food etc. Mikaela generally tries to stay optimistic and keep a positive outlook, always looking for a silver lining, but her more depressed times can be truly deep for her. She fears being alone and greatly values companionship. Mikaela cannot stand liars and people who go around hurting people carelessly. Anyone that insults her is likely to earn her ire quickly. She spends most of her non-training free time watching anime, playing video games, or eating. Most of the money she makes goes towards food or better weapons, but anything extra is occasionally spent on a new video game to reward herself (or sometimes just better food/bigger meals). Despite trying to act tough towards strangers, Mikaela actually does have a soft spot for cute things. Overall, she is very protective, extremely trusting, and reliable.

Appearance: Stands at 5"10, has lightly tanned skin, brown eyes, wavy green hair that almost goes down to waist, a mole near the corner of her mouth, somewhat full-figured (she's kind of overweight).

Mikaela's usual attire changes a lot, but she is arguably most often seen in her samurai armor. It's basically what you'd expect a samurai's armor to look like, with an overall black color scheme. She has several different weapons strapped and or/sheathed to the sides and back of her armor most of the time. When she is not clad in her armor, she usually dresses as casually as possible, with assorted t-shirts, jeans, skirts, and a light black jacket she seems to almost always wear or have nearby. She seems to own only one pair of shoes; simple brown loafers. Mikaela bears a small scar right next to her left eye, but it is mostly healed and hard to notice at first glance.

Backstory: Mikaela was orphaned at a very young age and taken in by a group of self-proclaimed samurai. They took her back with them to where they lived, which was far away from most modern civilization. This place was led by a shogun named Saizo. She lived there for a long time, eventually getting excited to become a samurai herself.

One day, the Yōkai, spirits of the land that were very peaceful for the most part, started attacking without warning. Everyone fought bravely to hold them off, eventually splitting up to lead percentages of the now aggressive Yōkai apart for damage control. Mikaela hastily grabbed a bag in which she took a wooden sword and a suit of armor (which at the time was too big for her). She followed her master to try and help, but was told to run. Saizo gifted her with a strange-looking sheathed katana, saying that it's name is Yurlungur, he was entrusting it to her, and that is should not ever fall in to the wrong hands, Despite wanting to stay more than anything, she ran as Saizo fought of an entire horde by himself. She believes she heard him scream, which she assumes to this day to be the sound of her master's death.

After that, Mikaela encountered a young couple who allowed for her to stay with them for a while. Although they assumed she was merely an eccentric young samurai enthusiast, her sense of kindness and willingness to help led to her staying for a long time, as they became almost like a family. She would start and keep up her training with her wooden sword on her own time over the years.She found that she could not unsheathe the blade given to her by her late master, though. Her adoptive family was nice enough to eventually provide her with an actual katana and a steel yumi once they thought she was responsible enough. Near the middle of the year when she was at age 17, Mikaela decided that she wanted to go out on her own for some time, hopefully finding a way to return back to her kingdom and see just how much has happened, possibly getting revenge on some of the Yōkai that ravaged her previous home. She was given a bit of money and best wishes from her surrogate parents, and told that she was welcome back anytime.

Current time, she travels from place to place, looking for work as a mercenary. She's not in very high demand due to her lack of modern weaponry and refusal to upgrade for the most part, which forced her to lower her prices quite a bit. She gets hired enough to keep herself sustainable for the most part. Since she's gone in to obscurity a bit, some people hire her for jobs that most would find crazy/suspicious. However, her trusting nature and sense of honor has led to her give her services as a sellsword for free to some that seem desperate and in need.

Strengths: Decent strategist, excellent at swordplay, decent with archery, capable of taking a lot of hits, is very honest and trusting, has vast knowledge on subjects that interest her

Weaknesses: Memory can be faulty at times, especially with numbers, haunted by achluophobia (fear of the dark) and insectophobia (fear of insects), is easily hurt emotionally, trusting to the extent of being easily manipulated, is riled up very easily

Abilities: Once she manages to unsheathe Yurlungur She will gain some cryokinetic abilities.

Miscellaneous information:

-Mikaela loves naming her attacks and weapons, sometimes calling out her attacks mid-battle. She claims that it fills her with adrenaline and it feels that it makes her hit harder.

-Mikaela is homoflexible; She is mostly attracted to women, but it's not exactly impossible for her to be attracted to a man

-She met a young boy while with her adopted family that she dubbed "Lil Bro". He disappeared one day and she hasn't seen him since.

Equipment: Mikaela has a katana which she forged to have a floral design that she named "Rosemary". Aside from that, she usually has a yumi with a quiver of steel arrows with her just in case, as well as a few kodachis on hand. Although she cannot unsheathe it yet, she almost always has Yurlungur strapped to either her side or her back.

  • Name: Tamaki Asagami
  • Age: 18
  • Gender: Female
  • Species: Human
  • Personality: Tamaki is a cheerful gal who goes about being dynamic and bombastic, often times puttering around with what seems like limitless amounts of energy. She is direct and to the point, often lacking in anything known as subtlety due to her blunt honesty. She is also stubborn- not giving up on something when she put her mind to work on it, though she's not inflexible in her way of thinking and is of very broad mind and thinking. The girl also tends to have an extremely creative mind that is fertile enough to support a wide variety of daydreams and strange imaginings, essentially making her a cloud cuckoolander.
  • Appearance: "My senses say there's treasure about.~"
  • Backstory: Tamaki's family is a particular eccentric clan of treasure hunters, driven by the need to go around the world and amass great wealth not due to greed, but for the simple thrill of collecting a prize after going through a hard challenge. Like any Asagami, Tamaki has the burning ambition to comb the world and amass the best of treasures, particularly gems. With her Affinity, it was rather easy for the girl to amass her current small but steadily growing collection, the majority of what she finds being sold off to provide for those less fortunate than herself and those of the highest carat being put in her personal collection. Due to traveling about in places that could well be described as dangerous and off the beaten path, the girl has plenty of combat and survival experiences despite her young age.
  • Strengths: Well versed in gymnastics, wilderness survival, prospecting, antique appraisal, tracking, trap-setting, various Chinese Martial Arts (particularly Baguazhang and Piguaquan), Asian cooking styles, and very good at inscribing patterns upon surfaces. A very creative girl that can think up solutions to problems less broad-minded people have trouble with.
  • Weaknesses: She tends to not be very good at long-term planning due to her job having plenty of events that can go wrong at any time. As a result, she tends to think about things in the short-term and perform on the fly. Besides this point, she has a huge gambler's fallacy, following the creed of "bet big, get bigger". Sometimes her bluntness and stubbornness also proves to work against her as well, especially in situations that require a bit of tact.
  • Abilities:Tamaki's unique spells fall under the portfolio of "Gem Magic" and such her magic has a lot to do with the eponymous shiny rocks. With this particular affinity, the girl has a scrying spell that works best when her target is near or has any sort of jewelery whatsoever. Besides her treasure scrying ability, she can push Mana (magic power) into gems much faster than any other object and use it as a reserve, much like a stockpile of amassed ammunition where she shoots out concussive hardlight blasts of Mana (the resulting color of which depends on which gem is being used)... or bomb in the very rare cases she chooses to sacrifice the gem housing the surplus of Mana and detonate it all at once in a explosive blast (though she really hates doing this since it destroys a jewel from her collection). As a side effect of her being very close to her Affinity, she can temporarily access the attributes of the factors that were used to create gems, mainly "Heat" and "Pressure".
    • With "Heat" she can somewhat make things hotter than they should be by physically touching them with her hands or any other parts of bared skin to force the surrounding temperature to either enter. The temperature rise influenced by how long Tamaki touches said object, with it moving in increments of 10 degrees Fahrenheit for each second she holds onto the thing in question. She is unaffected by her own temperature shenanigans though said spell guzzles down Mana like a limousine does gasoline so she can't afford to spam this spell repeatedly.
    • For "Pressure", Tamaki can manipulate gravity itself in small localized bursts to fire off midranged air pressure blasts, usually only around the size of a fist. The Gem Mage usually holds off on using this unless it's a last resort or a guaranteed finishing move since it consumes even more Mana than "Heat" does. Her maximum limit is 10x Earth's gravity in a concentrated area with a maximum range of ten feet. Needless to say, getting punched by this hurts like the dickens. She can also use a more sustained version of the spell for short ranged grappling/pugilistic purposes but the resulting pressure would only be 3x regular Earth gravity.
  • Miscellaneous information: She's a regular modern day Indiana Jones/Robin Hood type of person.
  • Equipment: A sturdy traveler's backpack filled to the brim with survival essentials such as tent, bedroll, rations, water, and so on. A sack full of various assorted gems. The clothes off of her back.

Appearance: She is a fairly sizeable lamia, roughly 12 feet from tip of tail to top of head. Her scales are brown in hue, and her eyes are brown. Her hair is lengthy, and brown as well. She opts in favor of a shirt and hat. Occasionally, she'll change her hairstyle to emulate a certain snake, often favoring the cobra hair style.

Personality: She is particularly guarded in her relationships, often being slow to earn trust with, but particularly values the relationships she has dearly. She is fairly fond of various dishes, liking fish, and steak. As for detested dishes, she's less interested with desserts, especially cold desserts. She also likes to sneak up on individuals now and again, partly out of instinct.

Strengths: She has been fairly versed on working with a subtle slither, being tougher to find. True to the serpent-like body, Erika has also been fairly flexible to bend to a few different positions as necessary to remain subtle.

Abilities: Venomous Bite (In short, small doses lead to sense disruption and pain, while high doses can lead to total body paralysis for a short time. Prolonged exposure to the venom at high doses can be fatal to things that need to breathe.), "Tongue smell" (Kinda like how snakes are able to in real life to be brief.)

Weaknesses: Erika's current form happens to be Mesothermic, leaving her to avoid extremely cold weather, along with occasional bouts of shedding the serpentine skin, leaving her particularly vulnerable for a time after the skin has been shed.

Backstory: Erik was but a mere street urchin, intending to steal various goods and belongings from passerbys. Some of his notable thefts included a robber's otherwise successful heist of a money bag, a diamond ring, and a few scientific gizmos. One of his attempts at stealing a serum of sorts did not go well though, and ultimately, it failed with Erik making a jump and fumbling with the serum, being exposed to the materials and changing his form to a female lamia, much to his dismay. With the scientists in pursuit, the newly transformed individual fled and lost the scientists at a park, where she dwelled for some time. At that moment, the name of Erika was picked up, and the trust of humans was heavily compromised, and she vowed not to steal for profit again, stealing only what is necessary.

Her life in the park wound up a mere life of solitude, scavenging to survive from day to day to make ends meet. She had been found a few times from the park she dwelled in earlier, but the various parkgoers didn't quite get to reporting it out of fear of being stalked or attacked. Then one park person wound up reporting Erika's position to the hunter's guild (A full name to be determined). The hunters then went to work to try and find her, and a few battles were had between her and the hunters. Erika did manage to sneak off towards a supply storage, intent to hide from a losing battle she did not want to be stopped in. To this very day, the hunters are still looking for Erika, intent to take her down with whatever measures necessary.

Miscellaneous:

About the Hunter's Guild: With a theme of feudal Japan, these hunters go to work on hunting down any monster that is reported to them under the motto of "No monster roams unpunished." Because of this, the guild often gets several requests from various clients, often using the requests as an excuse to hunt monsters at all. Though their equipment is magical, the hunters are but mere humans on the whole who are seasoned in their hunts.

As for how Erika will keep within the masquerade, her method relies in staying out of sight through staying hidden.

@Makaioh: Hey! I really like the character concept, it's something I hadn't even considered but makes a lot of sense in the setting. Kuddos to you for managing to make gravity manipulation (or in this case more like pressure manipulation, but technicalities) into an ability that manages to be useful but not overpowering, particularly in such a low-powered setting.

Pretty much the only comment I have is that ten degrees per second of heating seems a bit extreme, but everything else, from the character concept to the personality to her powers, looks good. You're good to go as soon as the main thread goes up, although I'd ask you to consider dropping the heating per second down a little bit.

Personality: Varies depending on her mood, her temperament scaling from cynical and hateful of everything to straight-up genki. A bit of an oddball under all circumstances. Personable but highly secretive.

Appearance: Ethnic origin: Italian, Irish, French, German; Thick, full, messy, shoulder-length brown hair; Height five feet eleven inches; B cup. She has a constantly tired look about her, her face and body tend to be dotted with shaving nicks, and she has a discolored scar on her right knee. Wardrobe varies, but Ada has a preference for early 20th century fashion and the color blue.

Backstory: Ada grew up in the boonies of the West Coast, having lived a largely low-income lifestyle most of her childhood and adolescence. She was diagnosed with a mild form of autism at a young age. She didn't have a lot of friends until later in her high school years, but besides that she's lived a largely normal life up until this point.

Strengths: In decent physical shape. Has a height advantage over the average person. Knows her way around a kitchen (this is something I can do in real life). Above-average reflexes and decent aim.

Weaknesses: Struggles with reading people's emotions (it's a real pain in the ass, folks). Doesn't excel in any particular field yet. Lacks endurance.

Miscellaneous information: Attracted mostly to women, but is open to the idea of a male partner.

  • Name: Joetta Annabelle "Joanna" Claymore
  • Age: 16 (1st Iteration), 2 (5th Iteration)

  • Species: Human (technically an Illimm)
  • Personality
    • Joanna likes to keep herself clean, so to say. She doesn't want to involve herself in murders, assassinations, high-stakes robberies, the like. However, this even goes for the little things: if there is a problem and she is not to blame (or she can shift it), she can come out of any problem (mostly) unscathed, but if she can't shuttle the blame off her, then she can easily shut down and begin mentally running in circles to search for a solution.
      • Though, there are certain situations where she'll just let go and leave it all to instinct. These situations generally end with more than a few people disassembled like a Glock or knocked sideways by a table hurtling towards them. (I.e., when the going gets tough, girl can fight, and she fights real dirty)
    • She generally treats everything with a thickly applied yet very dry layer of cynicism (learned the latter from the Bri'ish). She definitely won't lace her diatribes with any moody, self-loathing sarcasm the likes of a pissy teenaged girl would generally cater, but underneath whatever "bubbly exterior" or straight-laced face she might bring to the table, there is a very real sense of hopelessness and limitation that she just doesn't have the energy to bust through.
    • To make herself happy, she keeps up with a number of small hobbies, though she never sticks with them for very long, always jumping from one to the next and always staying with one long enough to obtain those fleeting moments of bliss and accomplishment that a long-term commitment just couldn't reproduce.
  • Appearance
    • General: She stands at five foot ten with fair skin, dark brown hair with slight blonde highlights if you look at it hard enough, piercing blue eyes easily comparable to sapphires (the blue ones, obviously, for those baited gemologists out there), freckles softly adorning her smooth, rounded cheeks and her snub nose (and maybe her arms and her back a little, but no one ever really sees that), a modest pear figure, and rather toned arms and legs.
    • Job Outfit: While she's on the prowl for the mansion and the item it contains, she's decided to outfit herself in something "stylish and bold", created on the behalf of the Illumanti themselves. This outfit consists of a dress — colored in a very dark, subdued purple, lined with metal along the edges, and with the top part of the dress existing as a "flap" that hangs over a rear portion of the dress' lower half — and a red shrug overtop it.
    • Normal Outfit: Underneath that, and what she will usually wear when not out an about on missions, is a blue, silk, long-sleeved button-down shirt — sometimes, she'll wear this with the shirt unbuttoned and a light blue T-shirt worn underneath that — and a pair of forest-green khakis held up by a gold-buckle belt. She'll also generally wear boots, either her simply designed, deep blue, fluffy-on-the-inside kind or her rugged, dirt-brown, "country bumpkin" kind,
    • Lounging/Exercise/Sleep: During any of those three circumstances, she tends to wear the rather paradoxical combo of long, jet-black, silky exercise pants and a spaghetti-strap shirt, usually a faint purple or blue in color.
    • Sweater: Sometimes, she'll wear a sweater. It's gray and flannel, with lighter gray cuffs, hem, and polo-neck. May wear it in conjunction with other outfits. Because why not? (Because you really need five layers, Joanna.)
  • Backstory:
    • 1st Iteration - After a few years in basic training, she was sent to France with a fellow Illimm to assist in a staged bank robbery of one of the world's top banks. The money was successfully stolen, and the bank tanked within a year, but a run-in with the police that same day cost Joanna her life. The indecisiveness she felt during the firefight, monitored heavily by the Illuminati afterwards before she was Reiterated, contributed to the decision to assign Joanna less direct missions.
    • 2nd Iteration - She was given a few months of psychiatric care before being sent to Wall Street to act as the Illuminati's "Wall Rat". However, six months in, she was killed in an explosion triggered when she was attempting to breach a new firewall installed into Wall Street's database. The source of the explosion is unknown, but it's suspected that the Seekers, an enemy group that shares the Illuminati's roots, were the culprits. Unrelated but still of note, REVENANT-WOLF, a last-ditch defensive protocol for Illimm, was programmed into Joanna following her second death.
    • 3rd Iteration - Two months after beginning psychiatric care, Joanna was sent to live with a prominent Parliament member in England as his adopted daughter. (This is when her official full name was invented.) This iteration was the longest she spent on active duty, ultimately spending five years with Mr. Claymore. Through him, she learned a great many deal of her hobbies, grew a passionate love for rock albums, especially progressive rock, and became well-versed in politics. However, in order to incite war between Scotland and the United Kingdom, she was to be assassinated by another Illimm "in league" with the Yes movement.
    • 4th Iteration - This iteration covered much more ground geographically, taking Joanna all around the world. It was in here that she met and became acquainted with the South African gang, the Attilas, and earned the nickname "Jet" from them. Periodically, during her downtime, she'd sneak down to South Africa to hang out with them and help them gain footing in Johannesburg and neighboring cities. After two years, in a race to Nepal against the Seekers for a mysterious artifact, she was caught in a firefight, and before she eventually died, REVENANT-WOLF was activated, and to-date, it was one of the most successful runs of REVENANT-WOLF, with over 30 Seekers dead before she succumbed to her wounds. Before being Reiterated, TABULA-RASA, a genetic rewrite protocol, began development, the Illuminati planning to implement this protocol in Joanna's 6th Iteration.
    • 5th Iteration - Reiterated once again, she has spent the last five months tracking down the artifact, the Seekers having gone noticeably silent. The Illuminati, however, have found something, located in a mansion, that could help with their search. Sending Joanna out to find this mansion and whatever lies inside it, she now waits for the opportunity to strike...
  • Strengths: Very analytical; easy to figure out subtle details and perhaps a few key traits of a person's history over a decently sized period of conversation. Has plenty of basic necessities for house life down pat, like cooking, cleaning, all that jazz. She's very nimble; one of the many games she played with her fellow Illimm and Illuminati was to have objects pushed in her way, obstacles brought up, whatever, to see if she could fall down.
    • In terms of exemplary physical ability as part of her Illimm genetics, she has enhanced vision and senses, enhanced strength and agility, and knowledge of several martial arts (which she barely uses), several languages (which she also barely uses), and several programming languages (which she uses all the freaking time, she just loves it sooo much!)
  • Weaknesses: Isn't a leader; needs orders to follow, a guideline to bound herself, a routine to fall into, and any moment of flux before had always gotten her killed. Loves to abandon all formal training when she finally gets to the "unbridled and id-fueled rage" part of a fight, much to the chagrin of superiors. Is afraid of snakes and scorpions. Never enjoyed a situation she couldn't "win".
  • Abilities: Aside from her enhanced abilities mentioned earlier, two are of special mention:
    • REVENANT-WOLF: Implemented into most every Illimm after Joanna's 2nd Iteration (no causation), this is a last-ditch defensive protocol that quickly transforms the body of the dying Illimm in question into a raging beast. Activations of REVENANT-WOLF have occurred randomly in Illimm a few times before, but for the most part, all transformed Illimm were docile (or as docile as they are normally) and slowly turned back within a few hours.
    • TABULA-RASA: Genetic revision protocol. Further information requires high-level clearance. Memetic countermeasures will not be taken because a) that's just silly, and b) we're not some wiki about a fictional conspiracy-laden, highly dangerous organization; we're a real conspiracy-laden, highly dangerous organization. (The lizard thing looks cool, though.)
  • Miscellaneous: B**ch enjoys her prog rock. Those who don't enjoy prog rock have s**t tastes and are never welcomed anywhere within a five-kilometer radius of her.
  • Equipment: For her excursion, she's brought a (totally-wish-it-was-)standard-issue, loaded and primed Remington 700, her various outfits and other clothes, an Illuminati-issued PDA that looks like a standard smartphone, a map of the surrounding area, a kit of various tools needed for breaking and entering without being caught, an issue of the latest Spider-Man comic she recieved from an Atilla, headphones, a multipurpose tripod, a knife, a handkerchief she'll never use, a towel she must always use, and a half-eaten bag of Chios chips from a vending machine she stopped by a week and X-thousand miles ago.

    Oh, and a bag to carry (most) of her stuff in.

    Consider her Burdened.

Species: Human turned Werecat through spirit fusion spell

Personality: Kit is a caring, empathic person. However, she has difficulty trusting people and keeps them at a distance. She is often quiet and very cautious before interacting with them.

  • Tics:Kit tends to instinctively use feline vocalizations (hissing or growling when she's angry, purring when content, etc.) Her cat ears and tail droop when she's in a bad mood, which is often.
  • Likes: Rock music (at low volumes), meat, cats, foxes, wolves and dogs, computers, swimming, mini golf, anime
  • Fears: Losing her identity, rejection, heights
  • Hates: Eye contact, pollen, getting unexpectedly splashed or drenched with water, excessive heat or cold, being the center of attention

Appearance: Kit is about 5 feet 3 inches. She has tanned skin, mid back length red hair with black streaks, and different colored eyes (green for right, yellow for left). Her body has a slender build with a small chest.

Due to her Werecat nature, she manifests various feline features, and her control is limited. Most often it will be her cat ears and tail, covered in black fur. Other features include prominent fangs, padded hands and feet, sharp claws. On full moons this goes so far as her gaining feline paws, digitigrade legs, a full black fur coat and a feline muzzle. Her feline form is noticeably more athletic and slightly taller. She can also take the form of a small black cat.

Lacking money, Kit generally wears what she can get her hands on, legally or otherwise. She prefers clothes that cover most of her body, such as boots, baggy shirts and pants, and jackets with hoods.

Backstory: Morgan was a quiet, shy young boy in a small town in the Southeastern United States. When his troubles at school with bullying and general loneliness grew too much to bear, he began to retreat into a fantasy world. He started out with fairy tales at a young age, then graduated to books on mythology, science fiction, fantasy, and even some horror (with a focus on werewolves and vampires). He had a particular love of anime and manga, especially ones with stories about magically empowered heroines. Morgan dreamed of being like those girls. So it was a dream come true for him when one day in the local library, he stumbled into a neglected room where he found a book of spells. He soon found the book housed a spirit taking the form of a small talking cat called Sekhmet.

Sekhmet promised him his heart's desire if he could free her by reciting an incantation from the book. The spell did release the spirit, but that was not its true purpose. It was written to fuse a disembodied soul to a living host. After passing out due to sudden intense pain, Morgan woke up to find his body had changed in multiple ways, and that she could now hear Sekhmet in her mind. Even worse, when the full moon rose that night, she underwent another transformation. This time she became a powerful feline creature. Fearing what would happened if she tried to return home and seek help in this state, Morgan gave no resistance as Sekhmet took them both far away.

They have spent the past few months wandering from place to place, taking whatever food and supplies they needed to get by. They never stayed in the same town longer than a few weeks, always fleeing before the full moon could reveal their true nature. By this time, Morgan has given up on ever returning to the life she used to know. When asked for a name, she simply calls herself Kit.

Strengths: Kit is good with computers. She has studied a few different programming languages, and once managed to hack into a secure database (though admittedly, one of the admins sucked at making passwords.) In the past few months, she has taught herself a few other skills, such as lock picking, using guns, and various wilderness survival skills such as making fires.

Weaknesses: Besides her socialization issues, Kit sometimes has difficulty controlling her feline instincts. She also has a fear of heights.

Abilities

  • Shape-shifting (from human to feline and in between, voluntary except under extreme stress or on nights of the full moon)
  • Enhanced smell and hearing
  • Night vision
  • Augmented strength (can lift up to about 400 lbs.) and speed (up to 60 mph)
  • Accelerated healing (not Wolverine levels, but still notably faster than the average human)

Equipment: Besides the clothes on her back, Kit carries a duffel bag. It contains a few spare clothes, as well as a lock picking kit, a Swiss Army knife, a few sharpened kitchen knives, as well as a pistol and ammunition. She also carries an older model smartphone her parents gave her. She charges it when she can, and uses it to access the Internet in places with wifi.

Name: Sekhmet

Age: Unknown

Gender: Female

Species: Werecat

Personality: Sekhmet looks out for number one. Like Kit, she doesn't trust people. But in Sekh's case it goes further. She mostly looks down on humans as inferior, unless they have some skill or ability she could utilize. Despite sharing a body with Kit, she is lacking in sympathy towards her side in their situation. She'll take action if necessary to ensure their survival, but the younger girl's emotional well being is her own problem.

  • Likes: Jazz, meat, cats, reading, being the center of attention, swimming
  • Fears: Death
  • Hates: Pollen, getting unexpectedly splashed or drenched with water, excessive heat or cold, dogs and wolves, computers

Backstory: Sekhmet's life began in the first few years of the 20th century. She was born among a family of werecats who preferred to live as animals rather than in human society. But eventually the allure of the city lights tempted her, and she left the wild to live among them sometime in the early 1920s. She sang in clubs across the country under various names. Looking for adventure, she travelled abroad in the 1930s, developing a fascination with ancient Egyptian culture due to their reverence of feline goddesses. When the war broke out, she became a mercenary under the code name Sekhmet.

Though a part of her enjoyed the fighting and even the killing, she felt a sense of relief when the war ended, returning to America with Vincent, a British sorcerer she had teamed up with in Cairo. For the first time in her life, she was in love. She entertained the notion of settling down into a quiet life as a wife and mother. But that notion didn't last long, and neither did the quiet. The Cold War had Americans seeing enemies around every corner. The 1950s saw Sekhmet and her lover taking on Soviet spies. They were quite successful...for awhile.

In 1962, they were in involved in a shootout. Sekhmet had been severely wounded, and her body wasn't healing fast enough to save her. In desperation, Vincent used her blood to seal her spirit inside a page of the spellbook he was carrying at the time. His intention was to find a new body for her to fuse with, but magic that powerful was not without cost. The sealing spell worked, but his life force was used to fuel it. Vincent died, and Sekhmet was trapped in the book.

The book eventually found its way to a library, where Sekhmet's spirit slept in a dormant state. She awoke again when by chance Morgan came across the book and touched the page containing Vincent's hastily drawn blood seal. She found that though she was able to manifest into a form that could be seen and heard, she was still bound to the spellbook. Only another reciting the incantation written on the page could truly free her. So she started talking to Morgan, telling him exactly what he wanted to hear. What did she care? He was nobody to her, just a means to an end. And when he spoke the words and her prison crumbled to dust, she thought she was done with him. Imagine her surprise when while adjusting to her new body, she heard his...her voice screaming inside her mind.

The last few months have been quite an adjustment for Sekhmet as well as Kit. The world has changed a great deal in 50 years, after all. For a time she considered finding a magic user to help her figure out what went wrong with the spell, but she's found her new partner in crime to have her own uses.

Strengths: Sekhmet is a more experienced fighter than Kit, and a better shot. She can also play piano and has an impressive singing voice.

Weaknesses: She can't figure out computers at all. And missing out on 50+ years of history means there are still quite a few things she doesn't know which are basic knowledge to the average person. This and the cultural attitudes of her time could lead to some awkward moments.

  • As a young girl, she was an avid gamer and loved to see machines work. Sometimes, she could make the games she played act slightly mysteriously, but she dismissed it as glitches. Was very good buddies with her sister and both of them played together and had happy times.
  • She started off programming video games and programs in secondary school, when she discovered her technopathy, being able to use her mind to program games quickly. In secondary school, something had happened to her sister, who became the Alpha Bitch that got a good part of the population to bully her.
  • During her time in college, she used various codenames on the internet ("Eisen", "Procyon") while interacting. Over the internet, she learned a lot about coding and programming on forums (using the former username), as well as hacking and... less scrupulous stuff (using the latter username).
  • After College, she got into a game design university, did well there (without exposing her powers). Went throught a few part-time jobs including working at her father's clinic, but had yet to find a proper fulltime job.
  • It was with luck that she found a fulltime job, however, she used her technopathy to playfully search their files, but exposed something illegal they did. Calling the police, she got most the entire company except herself and a few others arrested, and thanks to the company closing down, she lost her job.
  • So she's walking around, trying to find a new job, and then stumbles upon well, everyone else in this house...
Abilities:
Technopathy, can remotely hack and interface/control electronic machines within a short radius.
  • Allows her to use her mind to hack code and type/program extremely fast. She's able to obtain sensor feed from machines and decode that.
  • She will first need to “establish connection” to the machine. Time taken is proportionate to the machine's volume, so trying to hack a train, airplane or space shuttle is going to take a VERY long time and not worth it.
  • During all this, she needs to concentrate on the target machine, and the technopathic "connection" is lost if concentration is broken. Only one machine at a time. Prolonged use will make her tired.
  • Machines can only perform functions that they are physically capable of doing, so don't expect flying lawnmower (there is no need to be upset).
Strengths:
  • Programming, Hacking, website stuff are very useful at support.
  • Skilled at most electronics and programs, knowing how they work
  • Niceness tends to win friends quite easily.
  • Strong sense of Integrity helps keep herself from doing the “wrong” thing.
Weaknesses:
  • Normal human durability, reflexes, and senses.
  • Can't fight for nuts. I Know Mortal Kombat is averted in full force here.
  • Her very subtle thinking in extremes makes her have worldview myopia at times. It's not very prominent, however.
  • Clinginess makes her upset if her “best friend” seems to ignore them.
Equipment:
  • A laptop, portable wifi (requires 4G service), charging cable and adapter plug, Android phone, iPad, multiple USBs, laptop bag to carry most of her stuff, box of hacking tools.

Misc:

  • Not meant to be a fighter, but support character. I really wanna try this for once considering most of my other characters I've made are of at least Super Weight 3/4 or more.
  • Is Asian Chinese. Can't be bothered to learn much verbal languages though.
  • Has a twin sister that treats her like dirt, as one of her "antagonists". How this character will react is dependent on what events are thrown at her. Also has a younger half-sister living in the neighbouring country. She's cute.
  • Seems to have an "internal clock", which kind of allows her to wake up at any time she desires, even if it's only 1-2 hours of sleep. It's pretty useful.
  • Has a massive need to be connected to the internet, or at least have her computer around. She gets distressed if none of the those are present.

  • Personality: Rose has a bad habit of being panicky. She immediately assumes all weirdness is dangerous, especially suddenly being turned into a girl. She is also somewhat shy and occasionally sarcastic. For the most part, she prefers video games to people. Despite this, she is a good friend who has your back when you need it. She likes going into great detail about her favorite things.

  • Backstory: Rose was born and raised in Ohio, on Earth. She (he at the time) was always the anxious, reclusive nerd who preferred to argue on the Internet about anime to an in-person conversation. Predictably, she never quite fit in. Not that she often needed to—she was homeschooled. Despite this, she lived a fairly normal life with not many events of note until she ended up being flipped.
  • Strengths: Great at writing and good with computers.
  • Weaknesses: Has a bad left ear and a phobia of disapproval.
