Reading on the trope page, for a character to be a BBC he or she needs to be hated by a large amount of people and more or less loved that same amount persons.
Given how Nero and Liz have been shifted away from the spotlight, maybe they don’t count anymore.
Instead of focusing on relatives that divide us, we should find the absolutes that tie us.Then add in how it could be conflated with Americans Hate Tingle etc. and you have a recipe for utter confusion.
For what it's worth, as the author of the entries in question, I've received the feedback that they leaned far too closely into my own personal interpretation and were not fair to the other side, a state of affairs I actually hoped to avoid. Whatever else happens, if the entry stays, I feel that someone else should edit them to be more even-handed, since I no longer trust myself to do so properly.
Nero i would consider Base Breaking considering her roles in Septem and Extella, two entries where her getting too much focus and her actions getting incredibly whitewashed are targets of major criticisms for both.
On top of people criticizing her omnipresence in Fate media, I wouldn't be surprised if some people considered her The Scrappy for themselves.
taking that into consideration, i could consider Nero a base breaking character...
if it weren't for the fact that, she really isnt? you dont really see hate-filled rants because someone else dared to like Nero, or that someone else dared to criticize Nero, and that person gets hated on.
like, if you like Nero, people kinda roll their eyes and say of course, and if you don't people roll their eyes and say of course, there really isnt much for her to be base breaking because, well, they kinda removed the problematic elements that could possibly lead to that cant have your perfect waifu be tainted by, gasp, moral ambiguity and having flaws
and if Nero isnt a base breaking character, Elizabeth definitely isnt, because at worst she had a few events dedicated to her that were mostly her being bullied
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeIn regards to Medb- I've always known she was an awful person but I was mostly indifferent to her in the past because I found her uninteresting. My beef with her now was that rigged beauty contest, that one actually offended me and now I want Ushi to beat her black and blue.
In regards to Sieg- while he's 1000x cuter in the game, I actually still found him a bit cute in apocrypha and it was interesting to see him emote more and more as more episodes passed by.

I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boysOh, his romance with Jeanne is definitely awful and it would have been much better if they focused more on his growing attachment to her rather than turn her into a blushing school girl with weird angst. I've never been so whelmed by a mindbreak scene in my life, even basic ass doujins can do better.

Yeah Nero and Liz are base breakers.
