Relatedly, in the "eye reflections are specifically for the people you love" thing that Nagatsuki specifically pointed out as something he loves in the anime... Ram's eye-reflection of Roswaal isn't even looking at her, but elsewhere, at Echidna, probably.

i can't help but feel like Re:Zero is building up to be a working class hero story, since every character that's lower on the hierarchy ends up playing an important role in the endgame of each arc

Hm. Could you specify further? Im curious to your point.

Otto is obviously the most notable example, without him, Subaru wouldn't have been able to save Emilia at the end of Arc 3 and wouldn't have been able to evacuate the citizens before the attack on the Witch Cult

then, in Arc 4, he's so insignificant that the book doesn't even note him, probably because he's a non-factor without Subaru. and the plan in the second half of Arc 4 wouldn't have been possible without his help.

i have also heard that i should keep an eye on the three thieves from the first arc, as they will play an important role in the future (i haven't accidentally read any future spoilers with them)

there's also the fact that the strongest characters are rarely able to help due to lacking knowledge and not being in the right place at the right time or can't be in more places at once. it's only with the help of Subaru and the people he befriends that they manage to pull off a victory

I’m not sure how Subaru expected Roswaal to surrender when all he did was say he knows the truth behind Beatrice and the Sanctuary.

Wishful thinking, I guess. I think he saw himself in the man Roswaal used to be, and wanted to try convincing him to back down.

Its precisely because of that Roswaal was trying to make Subaru like himself.

I have to say, I did get strong Subaru vibes from Past Roswaal, so it was definitely show, don't tell. And I appreciate that.

Someone pointed out elsewhere Echidna and Roswaal in Season 2 were essentially the Anti-Subaru’s Parents. Their wants and desires to mold Subaru in opposition to how Subaru’s parents loved and wanted what was for him but let him make his own choices.

New episode out, in which Emilia makes Echidna cry. And it made me laugh a lot, for some reason.

I feel like Echidna wants to hate Emilia, but she really can't bring herself to, for whatever reason. But apparently this has yet to be explained even in the novels.

eh. As an anime-only, I can make several reasonable guesses as to why Echidna seems to hate Emillia and cried at the recent episode.

Clearly Echidna is upset that Emilia stole her rightful place as Subaru’s waifu.

I mean, I'm also anime-only, and I didn't get a sense of (genuine) disgust from Echidna. I feel like she's just telling herself that.

i dunno, remember how we thought that Emilia cried at the end of season 1 because the people in the town didn't hate her anymore, but that prediction turned out to be way off
