And so it ends.
Pretty solid finale overall, though I do admit its funny that for a series that deconstructs the Isekai genre so thoroughly, it ends up reconstructing it and playing it completely straight in the end.
That said, I felt like it was well earned and cathartic for how much the series dragged Subaru through the mud in the middle half.
8.5/10 for me, hoping for a second season.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Meh finale, could've ended on rem's coma, which would have been a good cliffhanger.
All 'n all, pretty good series: 8/10. Probably my favorite new anime of this year besides My Hero Acadamia. 2nd favorite of 2016 in general. Right behind Jojo's Diamond is Unbreakable.

Warrior to the very end! My tumblr, dood!![]()
jfc please tag what your spoiler is about. i thought you were talking about the finale itself, not content that has yet to be released as an anime.
Anyway, I personally liked the finale. Not the greatest send off, but it's not supposed to be an ending to the series. I'm super excited to see a second season.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeThey left it open enough that they could adapt the epilogue portions of Arc 3 as an OVA or an Extra episode similar to how White Fox adapted the bad ending of Steins Gate.
Plus, there's still that lingering question: "Who is Rem?"
Watch SymphogearI liked the finale. Really, given the options of where they had to cut, White Fox was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either they ended it on a cliffhanger, and the fandom raged, or they didn't end it on a cliffhanger, and the fandom raged slightly less.
I'm a bit sad that the scene with Subaru meeting Satella didn't make it, I thought it was very important, but I guess they were pressed for time anyway. I'll be looking forward to season 2.
If there's one criticism I have for the series is that Emillia really was not as developed as she could have been, so the ending kind of made it seem like she was a prize that Subaru finally won after his hardwork.
Like, the very same thing he was admonished for 12 episodes prior. The only difference he at least acknowledged his previously shitty attitude and actually was aware of the situation compared to last time.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Arc 4 is major character development for Emilia, like, on par with Arc 3 Subaru level, in that depressing Re Zero style.

I agree, but self-awareness is the one thing that most LN protagonists lack, so I don't really mind. They tend to be really mindless when it comes to stuff like this. Acknowledging your own problems (particularly in the brutal self-deprecating way the show does) isn't easy, so Subaru is already better than the average protagonist. That's enough for me, at least for this season.

Oh I'm only judging it on the context of the Anime itself; I know she gets developed later on in the following arc, so I'm not gonna say she never develops.
Speaking of, I hear a lot of people feel like the last 1/4th of the series wasn't as good as the middle part. What didn't you like about the ending?
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I liked it because it mirrors Rem's talk with Subaru,
Another talk in Arc 4 later on mirror rem's speech even more.
It proves that while everyone else may Forget Rem, Subaru won't and take what she told him to heart.
Watch SymphogearI guess Rem's had more impact because it came after a bunch of really terrible failures, whereas the post- White Whale loop was comparatively less terrible.
I do agree that Subaru's relationships with the girls would work best if the non-romantic aspects were played up. Based on that, I'd wager that Subaru would still work well as a protagonist if he was gender-flipped.
If Subaru was Gender flipped, most people wouldn't give as much of a shit about his stupidity, which would be quite Hypocritical, sadly.
Watch Symphogear@Black Yaku 94: A lot of people are afraid that after episode 18 it'll regress to a normal adventure story, coincidentally this fear is also why some people are bummed out at White Fox for cutting the cliffhanger ending, because in a way that is what makes Re:Zero what it is: the suffering never ends. I'm personally fine with how the anime ended and episode 23 still showed how Subaru still can get screwed over after his turning point..
Like I said, its very possible that white fox might do a surprise 26th episode, because their official Re:Zero twitter said to look out for a next episode preview after episode 25 came out.
It should be here around the time the usual episode preview comes out.
Watch SymphogearShould I mention that the hateboner that some MAL Users have for this series is downright hysterical?
Because it is, in the best way possible.
