Once the season ends, go back and rewatch the epsidoes. there is a lot of foreshadowing for later events in the series, and its done so subtly yet brilliantly.
Watch SymphogearI very recently binged through the whole anime thus far, despite being spoiled in quite a few things. Surprisingly, I found very good in all aspects. This is usually the sign of a strong narrative: that even if you know what's coming, it's still satisfying to watch.
I don't really mind spoilers, so I went ahead and intentionally searched for some of the coming material. I got the impression that everything that the anime is covering right now is the overall introductory period of things, which is actually really great, because I was afraid that the anime might stop somewhere awkward. I look forward to the next few episodes.
As an aside, I know the story has a LN structure, so I understand why the length is so short, but I can't help but feel that everything the anime is covering, arcs 1-3, should really be considered one long arc. Arcs 1-2 aren't enough to fully understand the world and story of Re:Zero, and arc 3 has had by far the greatest emotional payoff.
Ok, I'm almost caught up (up to episode 23).
- Having seen some more of him, I kind of love Betelgeuse now mostly because he's SO ridiculous that I can't help but be highly entertained whenever he comes up so I just came to sort of accept him while still being to take the rest of the series seriously. I don't know know how, I just do.
- the series arguably got a bit too dark for a little bit without the necessary sophistication to back it up, but episode 18 made this entire series worth it. That 20 minute conversation was extremely cathartic in many ways. Hearing Subaru finally acknowledge his flaws, how pathetic he was and how he hates himself was what I was waiting for the entire series. Honestly I have to say that I actually kind of relate to Subaru. A lot of the stuff he says about himself is stuff I've told myself a few times and honestly if I had been in his shoes I would have wanted to give up too.
It just made him becoming an actual hero and actually managing to find a way to get a "good end" all the more rewarding.
- I sort of have to agree that for someone who's ostensibly the main heroine, Emilia hasn't done much and isn't particularly interesting. I understand that this might be part of the point (having her be the generic LN heroine), but I really hope that she ends up more interesting as the series goes on because so far I like all the other selection candidates a lot more because they aren't the saccharine "perfect" LN lead type.
Gotta applaud the voice actors for Betelgeuse, that must have been hell on their vocal cords.
(About Emilia, it seems that she gets a lot more focus and development later in the story, apparently right after this arc actually)
Also I forgot to mention this, but I initially was kind of annoyed by Reinhard because of who he reminded me of but he's nice enough that I don't really mind him anymore.

He's mean to be the meta foil for subaru. He's essentially a parody of characters like Kirito.
Arc 4 is when he and Emilia get a lot more fleshed out.
Watch SymphogearI haven't read most of this thread in fear of spoilers, but I have the following question I'd like an answer to: Did this get good again?
I stopped watching around episode 16 or so. I loved the first arc, it had a good overall arc, good characters, decent pacing and was sufficiently self contained. The high point of the series. Second added some entertaining characters but pacing and overall arc quality suffered. Then the third arc started and all of the points felt further down the scale, especially characters, until it was just painful to watch so I stopped.
I don't think that's that unique a story when it comes to this series. Yet that first arc was good enough that I sort of want to get back to it, hoping there's some of that spark left. Thus I come to you who have stuck with it and ask the aforementioned question: Did this get good again? And how long did that take?

I kinda like Betelguese's character, disgusting as he may be.
On a side note, I just came from reading the spin-off IF chapters (y'know, the one that depicts what would've happened if Rem agreed to run away with Subaru in ep. 16 or 17). Bittersweet, is it not? Rigel really takes after his dad.
ACCOUNT NO LONGER USED. *straps on jetpack*I'd say its still solidly OK. Worth continuing, at least. Though I'd honestly say it might be best to watch this on an arc by arc basis. Some people here are riding their hype pretty hard, but there's some merit to it. Avoiding this thread is probably for the best. Apparently there's other material where the story is further progressed and there's little way to know if people are discussing current spoilers or future spoilers. I fell for that myself. Hazard of the medium; nothing to be done about it.

Episode 24: I don't know if it's just because the anime just doesn't have that much time left, but Subaru has become rather more effective at leveraging the information advantage of his revival ability.
Aww Emilia. And apparently her rabbit-eared cloak has, well, cloaking magic.
The blank letter is still ominous though.
I goddamn knew it.

prepare for a whole lot of salt that's enough to fill the worlds oceans next week,,,,

Episode 13 is painful to sit through. I don't remember the last time I saw an anime MC making such a huge fool of themselves.
