So an ep behind you all but this next one coming up certainly sounds interesting and I've heard nothing but good things about it everywhere so that's great.
As for me and my latest episode, this villain out of nowhere obsessed with Endeavor was pretty lame. A bad framing for a good, emotional idea. They really are teasing the enigmatic fate of Toya, though. But I really like Endeavor and think the story is doing everything right with him so far. I knew about him building a separate house for his kids a while ago and I remember somebody demanding elsewhere "just what has Endeavor actually done to make it up to his kids?" I had to invoke this. It's not all "just words." He's making real efforts.
I agree, Endeavor choosing to remove himself from the family was one of the moments that made my trust in Horikoshi grow a lot. (I was already trusting him, but situations such as Endeavor's are pretty difficult to handle in a good way).
That said, latest episode was quite nice. And now we'll finally stop speculating about how the MVA arc will be handled.
Hmm... Not bad, but I'm disappointed that they skipped the introduction with the Lo V in dire straits, it was important for Spinner's arc. I hope they'll put it as intro in a following episode, like they're apparently going to do with Re-Destro's introduction next week.
Complaining about missing scenes aside, I liked what was there quite a lot.
Even if they are moving the MLA intro to the next episode I can't help but wonder why it was not in this episode where it would have made more sense. (Or better yet if it had been in the place where it originally was in the manga)
The Creature Rejection Clan was no doubt just outright skipped. To which I ask the anime's directors "Why did you put in all those padding flashbacks to skip manga material."

I doubt they won't include it later since we're talking about an entire chapter here, not a short scene (and funnily enough, the chapter that gives its name to this episode). Probably when they show Spinner's backstory so they can make that episode about him and his thoughts, since they've seemingly done away with his narration for the most part. They're just messing around with the order of things a lot this season.
I noticed they've changed the logo at the beginning and for the preview.

Much as I dislike how it took so long for us to get here, I'm enjoying My Villain Academia so far. Really enjoyed the Toga episode (I watch dubbed, so I'm a couple episodes behind), but it got me thinking of how much blood there is in this show. I don't know if its necessarily more than other shonen get away with, but it feels like it is. You see someone get turned into a shower of blood by a single touch, you take note of it. I think when Toga's around there's usually less splatter, but the way its framed does well at making it impactful in its own way, especially the drinking blood.
I can't believe there have been absolutely zero posts in here for weeks.
Elsewhere people are complaining about how "some anime director decided villains can't be humanized" and I have no idea what they're talking about. Did somebody's backstory get cut?
Like
I'm a dub watcher so I'm two eps behind but while I enjoyed MVA, this Toga ep did nothing for me. Looking forward to a Twice episode, though. Toga's ep was NOT helped by the plethora of bad gamer/tech references, it was like the USJ Attack all over again. They had pretty much dropped that bad lingo since then until they brought it back now.

A lot of things got cut but I'd say the 'humanization of villains' is still mostly there. Probably to a lesser extent than the manga, but it's hard to measure something so subjective. The cuts are more likely just them trying to get this over quick, imo. The characters that have suffered the most from this are Spinner and Re-Destro, but it's about the removal of character moments rather than backstory.
The complaints are mostly kept to the manga thread now, since they're more comparing to the manga than anything else.

About time!!
We're finally getting MVA next episode!!
More to the point of this recent episode, the flashbacks to the Yamada/Aizawa/Shirakumo trio were really made heart-wrenching.
