It's not him. It's just someone vaguely looking like him, only the cap really meets the similar design but it's not him, just a generic trainer. Even the credits labeled him as such.
I don't really like Illumination but I thought Sing was decent. Hell I don't even think it related to Zootopia at all - the only thing similar was that it had talking animals.
I didn't think the film felt anything like the games or show.
I only mention it because people keep bringing up the "this is your childhood" aspect of it in their reviews.
I have INTENSE nostalgia for pokemon. And this film, even though I liked things about it, didn't hit that nostalgia centre at all. The live action nature of it, the setting, the urban aesthetic. The vibe I got isn't really what I think of when I think of Pokemon.
Kaze ni Nare!Oh, there is a new Detective Conan movie?
Just joking, if they released it as usual, the Detective Conan movie has most likely been in theatres since April (they release a new one every year without fail). So I am not sure if "beating" is the right word there. But it is naturally more encouraging than it initially looked like.
It's a detective conan movie. You either like it or you don't, I guess. Fans will watch them reliable as a clock. I think the reviews were pretty "eh" this time around, though (I will go hunting for it in a few months when the first fansubs are available).

Nah, the whole of the Detective Conan universe is in permanent stasis. Which is REALLY funny because if you watch the first episodes (which aired in the mid-1990s), one of his gadgets is a lunch box with a fax machine.
A fax machine!!!!
Needless to say it was only used once and was then fast forgotten.
But you have the respect the franchise. I mean, it has been running for over 20 years by now and us fans are still patiently waiting for him to get anywhere with the black organisation.
Also, the show had have valentine day episodes multiple times by now and people are constantly going on vacation, too. Especially in the anime, because they have those "some place sponsors the episode and in exchange Conan solves a case there" episodes.

I don't follow Detective Conan, but last I checked, there HAVE been points where Conan was re-aged to a teen, though they were finite. If anything, I wonder if his girlfriend got clued in (no pun intended) that, hey, her boyfriend got de-aged because of mad science by now.
Either way, we're getting off-subject.
To wrap this up: He now has a pill which allows him to age temporarily BUT every time he uses it, the time before he becomes a child again get shorter and shorter, so he has to use it very sparingly. And Ran still doesn't know BUT he confessed his love for her during one of his adult times. So I guess their relationship has progressed? Only took over 800 episodes…..
Anyway the movie has been out for a month now, so it isn't exactly hard to beat. Kind of surprised that it is still on place three in the box office….
I'd find it more interesting that two of the top three include "detective" in their name if there weren't eleventy kajillion detective conan movies.
It probably still led to some crossover fanart.
You are not alone.Eleventy Kajillion.
My personal disappointment with Detective Pikachu does stem from it not really being much of a mystery movie. The sleuthing isn't nonexistent but eeeeh.
You are not alone.Saw it. Liked it. Though I find myself wondering how well it works as an introduction to the franchise, and I'm not sure if it does.
It's still probably the best non-game piece of media for that so far, and it does a great job at showing what a world of Pokémon actually looks like, but it still feels like a lot of it operates on video game logic (types, moves, and evolution are all mentioned, and at least a couple of those are plot points). Which might just be an inherent problem with the Pokémon franchise. There are also a couple plot points that rely on game knowledge to work. For instance, if I don't know what a Mew is, then them saying "Mewtwo is made from Mew's DNA! That means it's super-powerful!" just serves to confuse me.
The Pokémon themselves all look great, though, and for the most part integrate into the scene seamlessly.
Like any good fan, though, I'm going to nitpick some things. Knowledge of legendary Pokémon seems a lot more commonplace than I would expect, given how reclusive they are. I spotted references to Articuno, Lugia, Dialga, Palkia, Arceus, and of course Mew, and there are probably a few others I missed. Greninja shouldn't have been affected by Mewtwo's or Psyduck's psychic attacks, though admittedly the way the Dark-type immunity works in-universe is vague at best. Finally, (and this is super nitpicky) I don't think Mewtwo has ever been able to learn moves that heal another Pokémon. Just stuff like Recover or Dream Eater.
Lugia is well know enough that its shrine is a tourist trap. The big villain had statues of the godly Pokemon as Pokemon villains do. Mew is the oddball. Then again, you can probably watch documentaries on the expeditions to find one. Articuno was in a title fight. Someone caught it.

I think the legendary Pokémon being widely known, at least, isn't that odd. They're legendary for a reason: stories are told about them all the time. In particular, the sculptures of Dialga, Palkia, and Arceus in Howard's office would probably be no more of an oddity in-universe than a replica Venus de Milo in a real-life CEO's office.

My musician pageGreninja can have the Protean
ability, which changes a Pokemon's type to its last move used. And they were purely using Water-type moves.
As for Mewtwo's healing, there was an event Mewtwo in Gen V with Heal Pulse.
Not to mention that this is apparently the Mewtwo from Pokémon: The First Movie, whose powers were best summarized as "I do whatever the hell I want."

I'm sure they want to 'save' Red for a Pokemon sequel film.
