Yeah, she's too nice to be one. At least for a quasi-military ship. Perhaps, she'd do much better as the skipper of a rescue craft or a completely-civilian ship?
And, to me, it was quite funny when during the discussion of Musashi's 18-inch cannons and what is needed to beat them, the camera kept switching to (big but definitely no 18-inch big) Mina's boobs.
P.S. We have seen Zeppelins here, why hasn't anyone thought about using one to sleep gas bomb Musashi in order to knock out the crew. And the rodents along with them, thus rendering the ship unable to attack (or defend itself) for a few hours - enough for spec.ops to secure it.
The issue of the day: What does it mean to be a good captain? Yes, Akeno abandoning her post was very irresponsible, as well as other non-captain like stuff, but she usually acts with the well-being of her crew in mind, and they appreciate how caring she is. But complaining about her not-captain-like behaviour at every little misstep can get irritating...note
Heh, at least Wilma and Rin get her.
....When did another of those rodents get on board!? It's a secret skill all types of pests possess. Oh well, Doc Minami has found the cure. Now, will her vaccine work...?
Hm, looks like the twins didn't even have to put in the effort to make quality German food. Poor head chef.

Being Try Sail is suffering..
I wonder if Rin would Took a Level in Badass in later episodes..? While Mina using Bright slap to Shiro & Kuro (shall the mutiny happen).
Akari & Georgette are best waifus..Episode 7:
Man, who knew Akeno had such a tragic past?
That "shopping mall ship"...is that a Liberty ship
, by any chance?
And that last scene of a warship in the fog... Is that the Hiei? (In which case, time to make this reaction
...

I think that Girls und Panzer did something quite similar
, presenting the main character's background during the seventh episode.
The Harekaze enjoys sailing into necessity problems, doesn't it?
I really like Kouko and Wilma's bond. I also liked how fired up Wilma was today.
Of course Akeno would have a dreary past...
Mashiro has conquered her fear of cats, and made up with Akeno. Now that's some good luck that came her way.
In the deep fog, The Black Ship awaits...
note
Even under water shortage, it's possible to have... perfect hair.

I was right
about the source of the troubles being located somewhere around Nishi no Shima. Apparently, someone was experimenting with things they shouldn't have - this virus doesn't look like something that can reasonably be created by accident.
Well making Hiei go aground was probably the only viable way of dealing with it without torpedo'ing it to hell. Still, this "strategy" relied a lot on the Hiei's crew being dumbed down by the virus as well as on a metric ton of luck on Harekaze's part.
Out of curiosity, though, why Hiei stopped attacking after it went aground? As far as I know, this does NOT affect the guns. Unless, of course, they ran out of ammunition prior to that...
Nicely done, Akeno. Gunzou Chihaya would be proud. Also, props to Rin for showing the "Fubuki-style" (or perhaps Uzuki-style?) spirit. ("Gambarimasu!")
And for some reason Mashiro's sister Mafuyu reminds me of Maya with a bit of Jun'you mixed in...
I'd say (in boxing/food metaphors) this episode was a pretty good undercard match/appetizer to the main event/main course that is the (subbed!) Girls und Panzer movie.

"Learn as if you will live forever, live as if you will die tomorrow."Having played World of Warships makes me appreciate the battle so much more.
Also, for Hiei stopping their fire; since their grounding tilted them so badly there was no way they could bring their guns to bear in certain directions. If the cast is in one of those directions, they're safe no matter how many times Hiei shoots.
Not sure about WW 2 battleships, but all modern ones have guns (CIWS, usually) that can do serious negative elevation.
Plus, we've seen a heavy machine gun on Harekaze - Hiei should have those too. There is nothing stopping the infected crew from tearing one of those from its usual place and relocating it to somewhere it can be used from more effectively.
How long would a transfer like that normally take: 2 hours? 3?
By then, the Harekaze will be gone and the Blue Mermaids would arive by the time the transfer is complete. Either way, the jig is up for the Hiei, and its crew will receive the antibodies.

Heal the Cutie, then point the Laser-Guided Karma and Disaster Dominoes towards the Asshole Victim that had wronged her. I love this plot line!

Man, it feels weird to recognize the vast majority of names when they're listing off ships
So the docked ships are Yamashiro, Akagi, Kaga, and Ibuki. They all carried planes in the original timeline...
Is that Gendo?
Yep, wasn't expecting it to take long for them to figure out the problem
Pretty certain disliking natto is normal
Yeah, Mike is a nice, reasonably clever girl, but she really isn't suited to be captain
