This is a relatively simple proposal, but The Power of Blood is divided between a punch of punny trope types. However, these are all covered by several linked subtropes. Namely:

I definitely think that is a valid Super-Trope to all of these, but since everything is covered by one of these subtropes, there's not much left for this trope to be. I therefore want to suggest that we move all these examples to those tropes, and possibly make this trope exampleless (at least for the time being) if there aren't any examples left.

I'd be ok with a cleanup to move examples to the subtropes if they fit better there. Just remember that an example can fit multiple subtropes.

Once we do that, we can see what's left.

I've created a The Power of Blood sandbox to sort out examples. I'll start with culling the list down to examples that aren't already listed on the subtrope pages.

I've made a single-prop crowner for my proposal.

I've moved the examples for Blood Oath and Blood Magic to their respective tropes. I've also done much of Bloody Horror, but there is some misuse. For instance, some entries are closer to Blood Magic, while there's at least one example that is really Bloody Murder.

I did encounter a problem with "Type B", i.e. Symbolic Blood. As written it doesn't match the description on the page, which is something that isn't blood being used as visual stand-in for blood. Most of the examples are instead using blood as a stand-in for Life Energy, which seems like it would be a different (sub)trope altogether.

I recall seing an example listed with this trope for when someone got wounded (with some blood to show for it) during fight, that character will fight more seriously and major asskicking ensues. Would that still fall here or sonewhere else?

^ I think that's a different trope altogether, like someone who is so sure of him/herself that they treat their opponent with nonchalance before they get a demonstration that they're gonna have to put their A-Game into it. I wouldn't say that is limited to "first blood", though.

Anyone have any thoughts on my comment ^^?

I agree; "something that isn't blood being used as visual stand-in for blood" is a different trope from "blood as a stand-in for Life Energy". It's almost the opposite (blood is a visual stand-in for something that isn't blood).

[up] But they're "symbolic"!

I kid, the "symbolic" part itself is vague apparently.

Bumping to check on progress. Have the examples been dispersed into the proper pages?
