Iran's nuclear programme has its own thread
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations

before posting here.
As with other OTC threads, off-topic posts may be thumped or edited by the moderators.
As of June 2024, discussion of US Politics is banned on the forums
, as is discussion of Israel and/or Palestine
. That also puts discussion of Iran's relationship with those nations (including military actions such as the US bombing raid) off-limits for this thread.
since the Military Thread seems to have shifted towards Iran, lets talk about them here, we'll start with some videos children
(Updated June 24 2024 to add link to other thread and update banned topic note)

How Two Months at an Iranian seminary changed my life
. And not in a good way. The author found himself in a nightmarish doublethink hell. Brilliant article and very insightful.
These seminaries are mostly a social networking system for the aristocracy of the Hezbollah and other Iran-aligned Shi'a groups across the Middle East. Getting to recruit the odd true believer who'd go on to head pro-Iran Shi'a congregations in their home countries is just a bonus.
One day, we will read his name in the news and cheer.Yeah but muslism arent so predominent here(as the guy said) so I though it was an Usonian, I make me wonder what country was him, I was aiming for brazilian but the first line is a spanish phrase, the others were probably ether argentina and chile who have biggest muslism comunity.
Granted there is a posibility its from venezuela since my country have ties with Iran and hezbollah. in fact a israli investigation said Maduro is using gold from country to paid Iran and hezbollah.

Iran is one of Venezuela's main foreign backers, after all, and takes a proactive role in the regime. Hezbollah is partnered with the ELN, Venezuela's favorite proxy in Colombia, and Venezuelan officials as well.
He always refers to Spanish in the article, so he's likely not Brazilian.

A number of Iranian schools are hit with a series of suspected mass poisonings
.
Girls schools, to be specific. Thankfully nobody has suffered lasting harm, but the targets are making people suspicious the government has a hand in the gas attacks as retaliation for the protests.
The article gives the impression the authorities are trying to stop the attacks though, and being forthcoming with information. Which makes me wonder if there's some right-hand left-hand secrecy going on.
*squints* Hey I've seen this one before
New York Times: Iran and Nicaragua Discussed Military Cooperation, Leaked Report Says.
Seems to be more talk than anything concrete, though.
One day, we will read his name in the news and cheer.
Actually, he's only called the Shah if he holds dominion over the Pars, Elam, Media, Susa, Ekbatana, Mazandaran, Saka, Gandhara, Khorezmia, Sogdiana, Lydia, Ionia, Phoenicia and Egyptian regions of Eranshahr. Otherwise, he's just a sparkling unemployed guy from eastern Virginia.
One day, we will read his name in the news and cheer.Senior Iranian ayatollah Abbas-Ali Soleimani assassinated
.
Their is a video which is online which shows a bank guard calmly walk behind him and cap him twice.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Saeed Roustaee/Roustayi has been jailed for 6 months, with a 5 years filming interdiction
.
He's the filmmaker behind thriller Just 6.5, which is the best thriller I have seen in the last decade and it's not even close.
It happened because of his latest movie, Leila's Brothers, which had been broadcasted in several international film festivals (including Munich and Cannes) without the government's authorization. Also, maybe not coincidentally, it depicts workers going on strike, and its lead actress Taraneh Alidoosti has been part of the recent protests, and was even briefly arrested before posting bail.

I was pretty much following up on the comparison to North Korea that Eagle made in the post.
Disgusted, but not surprised
