Short Round is 50? That says a lot about how much Indy has aged.

The actor is. If the film were to be set around the time of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Short Round would presumably be in his early 30s at worst. If Ford's age were to be openly acknowledged then yeah Short Round and Mutt would both be somewhere in their 50's.

Yeah, the original three films are not aligned with the real world timeline, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was set 21 years after Raiders but was released 27 years later. Short Round would have been in his early thirties at the time of KOTC (Temple of Doom being a prequel) while his actor would have been five years older. It seems his actor is an active stunt coordinator, so Short Round (not so Short anymore) showing up is not impossible.

I constantly forget that Temple of Doom is supposed to be a prequel.

If I had a nickel for every film where Emma Stone falls off a balcony... I'd only have two nickels, but weird that there's two of them.

I honestly don't mind Mutt all that much. Besides, Shia Labeouf has become a much better actor since Crystal Skull. Why not have both him and Short Round?

Apparently because people really hate Lebouf now.

And he may have ran his mouth too, if the posts above are anything to go by.

Well, it's not like he was exactly popular with fans of Indiana Jones before that, seeing as he was heavily hinted to being Indy's successor someday.

Yeah, but this has nothing to do with that.

If he's legitimately done bad shit rather than people just hating him for trying to replace their hero, that's a whole different kettle of fish.

As I've said before, Shia's downfall seem to have begun by badmouthing Crystal Skull which sounds more like an attempt to get on the more volatile (typical of George Lucas' works) fandom's good side rather than being a sincere reflection, based on this quote that he "dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished" while Crystal Skull was relatively new. And that created a rift between him and Spielberg, who told him that there was "a time to be a human being and have an opinion, and there's a time to sell cars."

After Transformers 3, Shia just kinda disappeared from the big blockbuster spotlight, and I didn't hear much from him until that paperbag head incident which caused TFWiki.Net, the site that documents all things Transformers, to replace his normal profile for that paperbag image. Sure, he had some great acting roles in the post-Transformers career, but they're always filled with stories and drama not unlike Jared Leto's method acting of the Joker. I heard that he refused to shower at all (and apparently cut his face and pull out a tooth in addition that) just stay in character for a WWII soldier in Fury and he smelled so bad (and behaved so oddly) that he was refused cast accommodations to promote the film. And then there was that time he got arrested in a protest against Donald Trump during the early days of 2017.

So when I heard about these allegations against Shia, it didn't seem all too surprising considering that everything I've heard about him beforehand indicated that there was a self-inflicted downward spiral.

As it pertains to Shia's character, they might just have some throw-away line about how he's in college now, but that depends on when the film takes place.

Mutt being away in college would make a funny punchline to the "going back to school" running gag in the 4th film.

They could always say that mutt died in Vietnam since the film would take place around that time.

Don't kill a character just because people don't like them.

I don't know what they'll do about Mutt, but not that.

I feel like all the Indiana Jones media I've consumed over the years has just been an attempt to recreate the feeling playing Fate of Atlantis the first time.

Bethesda's making an Indiana Jones game.

Sounds like it's the Wolfenstein team? Which makes sense, although I would've loved Skyrim but with more 1930s globetrotting. Haven't actually played the new Wolfensteins. Maybe I should.

The upcoming Indiana Jones cast will star Harrison Ford alongside Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and John Williams returns to score the film. Releases in 2022.

Mutt looks great after 13 years on HRT. Proud of her. smile

She better be playing his daughter or a villain, and not a freaking love interest.

Nothing about Karen Allen?

Funny how out of those three, John Williams looks most like an Indiana Jones character.

I second the idea of just recasting Mutt. I thought the character was fine; have a recast Mutt and Short Round. Problem solved.

Mads Mikkelsen has been cast in Indiana Jones 5.

I would bet a fortune that he has been cast, as either the villain or an old student of Indy.
