Ni-Oh

Tried the demo. Spent the first 30 minutes getting eviscerated by random mooks. I can already tell this game is going to be brutal.

Can't wait.

So to the guys who have played the demo and or betas, what are your thoughts on the game?

Bazungolf. Nuff said.

From what I've seen it seems more like Bloodborne than anything (your fighting style is focused on speed and the use of a lot of different tools and weapons rather than a shield), but with no counter-health-gain mechanic, and it seems like the loot system is a lot more like Let It Die, where you pick up gear so fast that other stuff quickly becomes irrelevant.

There's going to be an oversaturation of kickass western releases of Japanese action games for the PS 4 the next few weeks. Nioh and Yakuza Zero are released so close to each other, and Nier Automata is a few months off.

And there releasing a new Digimon world game next week as well out here as well. If that's your sort of thing.

Of course it's an RPG not an action game, so I don't know if that counts.

The new Neir is coming out in a few months. Dang it, 2017 has not been good to my bank account.

Nioh comes out in 8 days. So have some lore from Fextralife. And by lore I mean an 1600 Japanese history lesson. Possible spoilers for the game if you don't know Japanese history.

Old news, but I just want to appreciate Nioh letting you go 720/60 on the settings.

Not enough PS 4 games do that. Which is to say, not all PS 4 action games do that.

Fun fact, the greatest source of damage in the demo is to be naked, buff yourself up with a bunch of scrolls, and parry your opponent.

Also apparently Ni-Oh allows you to do at least 5 digits worth of damage to some poor sod if you get buffed enough.

You're talking about this video. Although he's dressed like a Ninja in that one. Also heads up. The game embargo has dropped and reviews are coming in. The game's lowest Score right now is a 75 with the highest being a Perfect 100.

Reviews are coming in. 87 on meta critic so far. Its considering to be the best game Team Ninja has made in years.

That's good. Nice that there's an actual fairly well-reviewed Soulslike going around now.

Game informer also spoiled the final boss on their You Tube: they couldn't show off the cutscenes leading to them, but Oda Nobunaga, Edward Kelly and Yamata no Orochi are the final bosses of the game in that order.

Plus, he's several hundred years before the Sengoku era's time.

I expected Oda Nobunaga to be at least a final boss. Because you know why...

I expected Oda Nobunaga to be in the game somehow, but I honestly thought Edward Kelley would've been the final boss. But hey, for final bosses, you can't go wrong with the Yamata-no-Orochi.

Apparently one of the bosses is Yasuke.

Truly, it is the time of the gaijin.

a Hundred Eyed monster back in england.

IGN's final score is 9.6 out of 10.

Regardless of how you feel about them, that's a might impressive score, better then any of the souls games, even, which should be good publicity from arguably the biggest gaming website on the planet.

Wow.

So the game is out and the game starts out with William in a jail cell. Like in Dark Souls.
