Her real name is supposedly Minami, but I can't seem to find any info about her if she is based on someone real. I imagine that the Sohaya themselves were made up from whole cloth, though.

So, what weapons do you think they should add in the DLC and or 3?

I'd say Nunchaku (Kinda surprised they didn't go with this in the first place) or Sais. Claws, too.

Also, maybe add in an Actual Martial Arts skill tree so that your bare fist means something instead of just wild flailing, maybe have your Greeve and Gauntlet armor parameters add onto the parameters of the martial arts you do. The stances are right there, they can do something with it.

Honestly, nothing makes me chuckle in this game more than the bare-fisted attack stat. I can't imagine it has an actual point.

I mean, if you want to go back to level one on the first difficulty and just punch everything to death after maxing out your stats, maybe.

There are a bunch of abilities and skills that revolve around it but that's just them throwing a bone to the folks that want to do a Self-Imposed Challenge I guess.

I also would really like the Saika clans Duel Pistols added as a Projectitle weapon type. I'm honestly surprised they haven't done that already.

https://www.tofugu.com/japan/ancient-japanese-weapons/

Some of the weapons here I'd like to see that aren't in are stuff like War Fans, Metal Pipes, Regular Kama/ Non chained sickles, Chigikiri, Blow Darts (Another probably projectile weapon class), Yawara, and there are so many weapon types Team Ninja coudl come up with its batshit insane.

I am currently on my way to Platinuming this game. I've got the two hardest trophies in the game (getting ALL the soul cores and finding all the kodama) and I somewhat understand the inheritance system for making gear stronger. I think by the time I plat this, I'll be at the current level cap with a plus 10 Odachi ready to tackle the dlc.

I think the only soul cores I'm missing are the Umi Bozu ones. They do NOT want to drop them for me, and its pissing me off.

I have plus 5 to plus 7 equipment across the board in weapons and armor, I have a + 7 Kodama bowl, both for the defense and for the Kodama Shrine gift bonuses. Having Tengen Kujaku will be very useful for finding Kodamas.

I'm even tempted to rebuy the first games complete edition on the PS Store just to keep going, because 2 has Re-ignited my love for the series.

Use the filter in Soul Core fusion and it'll show you a list of all the soul cores you owned. You don't need to currently own the core to get the trophy you just need to have had it once. For me the two cores I was missing was the Kodoma core and the poison blob core (which was easy to farm with a shrine close by and just tossing a bomb to instant kill it) before I got the trophy.

Beat every boss in golden palace on first attempt this time, even lady O and the dual boss. The others were never an issue before but those two fights gave me trouble last time.

Also the 2nd mission with shibata boss has got to be one of the most annoying ones in the game. Shibata himself isn't the issue(he is but you've fought him before), but there's a yokai guantlet before which has you fighting one of those rock moms alongside a rokurobi in an arena filled with fire and it's easy to get corned and killed. Died like 3 times there.

Rock moms would not be nearly as annoying to fight if they would just stay freakin still. I can get like 2 hits on them with an Odachi before she starts her dodging routine. However, the hardest Yokais in the game, in my honest opinion, still belongs to Ninja/Hand Cannon Yokai, Raven Tengu, and the freakin Magatsu Warriors.

Magatsu warriors aren't nearly as big a problem as I thought they'd be, although maybe that's because I always use lightning on them and then hit them with an axe to the back. Busting their extra arms nerfs them hard. Not to say they haven't killed me, mind.

Cannon Yoki are exactly why I recommend investing in the gust talisman.

You know what monster I keep underestimating though? The fucking umbrellas. They cause way more than a reasonable amount of damage.

Quick attacks work very well on the Umbrellas because they have no way of gaurding it and are hit stunned more.

Yeah, I decided to say fuck it and rebuy the first game.

It really does feel bizarre to go back to it, especialyl with the way they do skill points, but you know what, it still holds up.

And Story wise, There's actually some really clever stuff in the beginning of the first game in hindsight.

William escapes the Tower of London in April of 1598. Thats the exact same month that Hide Fights Tokichirou for the last time before sealing themselves away with Otakemaru's Horn, and it really feels like the game implies it was this entire incident that caught the eye of Edward Kelley and John Dee from the first game, and say what you want about the stories of both, but it feels really satisfying how the initial journey of one protagonist ended and another started in the same year as each other.

Playing through the first game again is quite the trip after finishing the second game, and yet the amount of call forwards the second game had to the first makes me appreciates 2's story a lot more now.

Wow shows that they really thought this through. Crazy.

I find the cannon/k-gama yokis a major pain yeah, but the namehage are just awful to go up against. Even with A toughness blocking just saps an insane amount of Ki and they hit HARD.

Namahage and Rokurokubi have killed me way too much. That AOE grab the Rokurokubi have is particularly infuriating; the reach is deceptively long. And despite just flailing their sword around wildy they cause a shit-ton of damage.

Rokurobi mostly annoy me by virtue of their incredibly fast get-up from being out-of-stamina'd. You can get a solid headshot on them, but unless you're very close and sprint immediately, they'll get up and probably take out your kneecaps in the process.

It's been fun.

Yeah that's definitely happened to me a few times. I don't think any other Yokai recover that quickly, and since they don't have any glowing horns or crystal clusters on them it's hard to get them out of Ki in the first place.

If you shoot them in the head I believe it deals a lot of damage. Not sure about Ki.

I find them easier compared t Nioh 1 since their neck whipping attacks are more telegraphed now. Usually for rokurubi you dodge their fireball/breath/whatever, draw in, attack, back off dodge whatever they do next and repeat. If you're getting hit by their grab you're either being greedy or not backing off far enough. With hatchets they're actually pretty easy since you don't even have to get close.

So I've done some research for a few days and I think I finally have a grasp on the rules of how skill bonuses on weapons and armor works. Well more weapons than armor since I've been trying to make some good Odachi's but I think the rules are same. Would you guys be interested in rules for stat rerolls or are y'all good?
