I think we really need to update the tropes pages with Gargoyle King stuff. King himself doesn't even have a character listing on there!

I don't recall her wearing one in her debut episode. There's no mention that Cheryl had to do a pole dance when she joined the Serpents. I like to think Jughead abolished that stupid tradition later on because I cannot see Cheryl doing a pole dance in front of numerous people, some of who are adults.

Sadly, this means Toni still had to do the pole dance when she joined the Serpents making it even more insulting that Jughead kicked her out.

JB was wearing one in the latest episode, and Cheryl probably did the dance offscreen.

Maybe it's her mom's.

I'm finally understanding that one of the themes of the show is the sins of the parents potentially repeating in their kids' actions.

At least Kevin and Moose grew up in a (slightly) more understanding age. I felt a bit sad for Mr. Mason, though that does not excuse him kidnapping his own son, making him afraid for his life and afraid of possibly being the victim of a hate crime.

Mr. Mason is a pretty apt demonstration of the Closeted Homophobe problem. Not every LGBT person gets to come out, be accepted, and live happily ever after. Sometimes, you're beaten back into the closet whence you came, or just plain never work up the nerve to come out in the first place.

There's a concept that emerges in political discourse from time to time, in which people who achieved something or obtained something cease to be interested in helping others to achieve or obtain it. We call it "F*ck You, Got Mine". But there's an equal and opposite principle that comes up just as often, which I like to call, "F*ck You, Never Got Mine". It's the spiteful premise that other people are obligated to have a life just as hard as yours was.

"I didn't get a free ride to college. I busted my ass at the factory. And I'll be damned if my son is going to have an easier life than I had. He's going to work just as hard, grind his fingers to the bone just like I did!" These are people who've turned their hardship into a point of pride, and thus become bitter and angry towards anyone whose experiences were any easier.

That's Mr. Mason's problem. He didn't get to come out and be celebrated. He didn't get to have a support group to help him. He didn't get to have the object of his affections return those feelings. He had to stay in the closet, he worked his ass off to suppress his natural desires, and he'll be damned if his son isn't going to go through the exact same horrible struggle that he did. F*ck You Moose, Never Got Mine.

All things considered, it makes a person somewhat tragic, even pitiable, but also terrible. Cool motive, still an asshole.

I'm not sure how these things work.

But if the Sister's were exposed last season before Hiram became so entrenched, would there have been an investigation into their abuse?

And would that involve contacting past victims to offer help/therapy?

I feel like Mr. Mason would have refused anyway. So maybe its a moot point.

But I dunno, I think you could get an interesting arc about it.

With a much happier ending for Moose.

[up][up]That would require anyone giving a damn about the Sisters' victims, past and present. Social Services had known that the Sisters had been disbanded by the Vatican over sixty years ago and that still wasn't enough to get them shut down. Hell, the only reason they got arrested this season was because Betty decided to take the fight to them after being subjected to their abuses.

Does Betty even want to still be the Serpent Queen? She's pretty much stayed out of Serpent business this season. I don't think it would have cost Jughead anything to give the position to Toni.

Also since when did the Serpents have that many many girls in their ranks? The only ones we've ever seen where Toni and Cheryl. I'd count Betty but like I said, she barely gets involved with them beyond Jughead.

Luke Perry has been hospitalized following a stroke. I hope he pulls through.

Unfortunately, he didn't.

Now what are they going to do to Fred Andrews? He doesn't do much in the show but Archie's character is strongly devoted to Fred.

Sad to hear about Luke Perry .

They'll probably write him out of the show for a little bit and then write in a send off for Fred/Luke.

Saw a clip from an older episode where Fred says "I was around your age when my father died".

So, would this be unintentional foreshadowing? Or just plain Harsher in Hindsight?

According to the showrunner all remaining episodes in this season will be In Memoriam of him.

- "Are you all this miserable?" Hermoine I swear this just might be the dumbest thing you've asked in this entire show.

- Reggie "Have I mentioned I am in fact heterosexual today" Mantle.

- I don't know what kills me more. That Cheryl actually had a fit over Toni wearing red or that Evelyn knows Cheryl well enough to know Cheryl would have a fit over Toni wearing red.

- Oh wait, I've got it. How about Toni almost having a threesome with Sweet Pea and Peaches on her potential last day at school.

- And how exactly was Cheryl going to make Toni leave the school any way?

- So after all this time spent with Hermoine and Veronica utterly terrified of what would happed in Hiram ever discovered they betrayed him, he just asks for a divorce like a totally reasonable person?

- So is the fact that only members of the Farm clapped supposed to imply the play was... bad?

You know, I do like Cheryl, I really do.

But, Toni should run from a relationship with her. Cheryl really needs to work on herself first, otherwise she's just going to backslide into an unstable vindictive mess at the next setback.

I thought that's where the show was going with this break up. And they were going to deal with the fact getting into a relationship isn't a substitute or solution to dealing with some hefty issues.
