King himself has said that he considers The Dark Tower to be a first draft and wanted to edit them, especially the author insert stuff in the later portions.
But when he realized that would be unfeasible, he left it, though Gunslinger has been changed several times, i know the copy i have is not the exact same as the one i originally read.
And yes, this movie is not a strict adaptation to begin with. Ka is a wheel.

So how was Idris Elba as the Gunslinger?

"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."Oh please. This practically tastes of Executive Meddling.
Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty.
...It does? What makes you say that?

"I squirm, I struggle, ergo I am. Faced with death, I am finally, truly alive."Most reviews say Elba is wasted in the film. Junkie XL's score is good too.
But they squished 8 books into 95 minutes.
Reviews are opinions. If you want to waste your money going to see it, feel free. The Emoji Movie was the second highest grossing movie last week.
Just be warned — the movie is more After Earth than the King novels. Almost everything was cut.

A troubling sign indeed,I've only read the first book so I'm wondering why they didn't go with 'Gunslinger' unless what I've heard is true and they are trying to cram a lot of the books into one film, which has always proven to be disastrous.
