SlashFilm suggested that some of the visual effects weren't all there just yet: http://www.slashfilm.com/the-dark-tower-release-date-delayed-again/
If not it could just be a simple scheduling issue, who knows.
It made a lot of noise a couple of years ago when it was first announced.
Elba is one of my favourite actors and I liked the book series, so it's a perfect match for me. If the movie is successful and good, I'm really looking forward to The Drawing of the Three. That was easily my favourite book in the series. That book is relentless.
That first guy, the Man in Black is bad-he's walking over the corpse of a country he had a part in killing.
He wants to destroy the eponymous Tower to gain phenomenal cosmic power.
That second guy-whose outfit looks exactly like what i picture Roland's to be-is the last Gunslinger (from the aforementioned country) who is following after guy one to put bullets in him and protect the tower-and with it all existence. He's good...ish.
I also like his little reloading trick since the book mentions he has one but isn't specific about what he actually does.
Oh also his guns are made from Excalibur and that door is one of several that lead to other worlds.
Simple enough.
Looks good.
I'll do this as well. On my phone and not sure the first one worked or not.

The book does have the kid show up in the other world, but it's more from Roland's (the gunslinger) perspective than the kid's.
However, heavy, heavy spoilers for the book this movie technically takes place after the last book. The entire series is a "Groundhog Day" Loop, with it starting and ending with Roland chasing after the Man in Black, but always slightly differently. The differences in the book and movie are because the movie takes place on a different loop.

Well they're definitely taking elements from more than just the first book, that's part of why the movie is called The Dark Tower and not The Gunslinger, but yeah, Jake going to Mid-World is right from the books. Along with Roland going to Earth.
They're definitely changing things, but none of it seems to be for the worse just yet. I wonder if Jake will still be psychic.
I love how Roland's belt is full of bullets too and his other little reloading trick. Jake saying he'll like Earth is funny cause when he went to Earth in the book, Roland was slightly blown away by how much ammo he could buy, which is when his audience is told about exactly what kind of guns he uses.
Which honestly kinda bugs me because the ammo described, while certainly not something small like a .22, doesn't jive with how his guns are described. They're written like their hand cannons, but they're not. I suppose i can forgive that because, again, made from Excalibur.
Disney had some good stuff, but that's all that comes to mind.
This looks alright. I had to check and see if the kid wasn't some shitty addition and nope, he isn't. Good. Here's hoping this turn out good. Mc Connaughey is actually kinda sinister here.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I wouldn't have headcast Matthew McConaughey as the Man in Black, but now that it's done, I'm really glad they did. Part of me wants to see him as the Walking Dude. Not sure I really want a full remake of The Stand. Just the parts with him in it.
Idris Elba, though, goddamn. I'm excited for this. Not so much for the effects or the look of the thing, but really, just to see him and McConaughey play off each other.
Remember when McConaughey was just a one-note romcom guy? I don't. John Stacker Stringer Pentecost Luther Bell against Rustin Cohle, I'm down.

TBH, I thought Kubo, Dory, Civil War, and Star Trek Beyond were the best of that summer, but I agree. And HOLY CRAP, the comments section on pretty much every single trailer for this movie has become a retread of the Ghostbusters remake trailer's comments sections. And I'm leaving it at that.
Remember to put some context instead of just links. Not everyone can or wants to click on a link to know what you're talking about, even if the URL does give a clue to what the article is about.

A trailer now exists and here is a description of it
