I used to be more conservative, too, believe it or not. I blame it on how my parents raised me (they're still pretty conservative). I was homophobic and transphobic like my mom and dad were/are, but funny thing is that I ended up being non-straight in sexual orientation anyway. It took me longer to stop being transphobic but I fully support the rights of trans people now and I would have no qualms dating a trans individual whatsoever.

[up] I was pretty similar. At a time I believed that trans people shouldn't go into the bathroom of the gender they identify with, because that would lead to men going in the same bathroom as women. I didn't understand the harm in that until I saw a political cartoon about bathroom bills, saying that it would lead to women being placed in the same bathroom as men.

And now look at me. I don't know my own gender!

On the topic of past conservative beliefs, there's a book called 103 Questions Children Ask about Right from Wrong that had a negative impact on me in my late elementary school days. While the book does have some good advice in it, it unfortunately has a very conservative view on media. For example, it says "Don't buy music that has swearing or a false message about life. If a bad song comes on the radio, change the station. Don't fill your mind with garbage." Just a couple pages away from that line, it makes it sound like Christians have to worry about being judged by other Christians for listening to certain music. My old shame, besides being afraid to listen to most radio stations, was when I randomly quoted the same line that I quoted here to my dad. Sorry, Dad, but that crap was ruling my life at the time! However, my beliefs weren't as strict as those of the book, since I had heard the F-word in one of my mom's Kings of Leon CD's.

Well, at least I got a weird dream out of this phase, which I will link to when I post it!

Edit: At long last, here is my dream.

One of my old shames was watching Onision as a child; well, moreso his other channel, Uh Oh Bro. It pretty much stopped me from having a "normal" childhood and leading me to learn a lot more things I shouldn't have at that age. I can't even believe young me watching a guy like Onision was a good idea to begin with.

Actually I might as well post some actual Old Shames here.

I tried dabbling in “edgy/adult humor” online years ago when I was a dumb kid, and it went about as you’d expect. I’m still embarrassed of it.

When I was around 13/14 y.o., I was kind of precocious, insofar as I thought a lot more about politics than other kids my age probably did. The problem was, I was pretty dogmatic about my political beliefs, as you might expect. In addition, I had a habit of taking political ideas to their most extreme conclusions — as in, Totalitarian Utilitarian level extreme. If the U.S. were to become a Repressive, but Efficient surveillance state, I'd have been the type of person who would gladly support it.

Thankfully, I'm a little more mature now.

A lot of things, honestly, but I remember something specifically relating to forums: I once got banned from a forum on another site. I was about 15 at the time and posted a question regarding emulators on a forum about a video game. Big mistake; got me insta-banned. I somehow managed to miss the "no piracy talk" rule when reading the (honestly, quite extensive-seeming) forum rules. Since then, I've been terrified of accidentally breaking some rule I wasn't aware of and getting banned on sites (including this one).

...Which is why I second-guess any edits I want to make here and almost never venture onto these forums. tongue

On a less serious-sounding note, I once wrote a play that was a sequel to Beauty and the Beast and made my cousins act it out for my extended family. I then realized how cringy it was five minutes before curtain and tried to bail out, which probably made the whole thing more embarrassing than it would have been if I had just performed it and then went on with my life. *facepalms*

To keep it short, nearly everything on the internet I've done for a long time. Even on this very website I don't look at my 2016-2018 years in a positive way, and even bits of my 2019 years here I don't like so much. The Old Shame factor is doubled for the time where (before I knew this site was a thing outside of the Minecraft splash message about it) I did things on multiple Wikis from 2014-2015 and was under 13 but kept that a secret so I would avoid being banned. I wish I could delete some elements of my past instantly from the internet as a whole.

On another note however, I have also done plenty of things in the past (not all on the internet however) that I view as So Bad, It's Good rather than just bad

I once wrote hate mail to an author who wrote spiritual articles in a magazine that was mostly about nature and animals. While my opinion on her writing did not change, I was unnecessarily rude and hurtful to her and she didn't deserve that.

I used to take dumps in garbage cans at school because I hated using the public restrooms. I used to go to the nurse's office, but they were literally getting tired of my crap(ping) in their bathroom, so... yeah, I had to make due.

Saw a garbage can, grabbed some napkins and tissues, hand sanitizer, and walked away whistling dixie.

_

I... relieved myself in a funeral home once. Elderly caretaker left me in his office to do some documenting for hours, left me with an open internet connection. I was doing a community service project and well... teenager, horny, Pornhub, click.

There was another time I tried it in school in a computer lab I was given access to. Got caught that time and suspended for like a week.

_

Then there was the time I walked into the girl's lockeroom in my freshmen year of high school. First day, had no idea where anyone or anything was, walked in late, saw a girl named Barbara who I knew but didn't really talk to... fifteen seconds later my brain completes the circuit and I back out, only for the loudest girl in my class to spot me and shout, asking what I was doing in there.

[up][up]First of all, I'm used to "relieving yourself" meaning urinating, so that coupled with the first story made me picture something different at first.

I feel like the most I've done is get really bored while put on hold trying to pay a bill or something at home and started browsing pr0n at the same time. Not "relieving myself" because I figured it'd be awkward if someone did finally pick up at the exact wrong moment. Not even videos with the volume off if I remember right, just pictures - I think this must have been when Tumblr still had nudity on it.

I made a lot of bad Youtube videos and covers when I was a kid, such as a Pokemon parody of Friday that included the phrase "Getting down with Pikachu," or a genderbent cover of that incest song from Friendship is Witchcraft except I voiced the genderbent female character as a boy...while being a girl.

I also made some very low quality Total Drama AMVs that put music recorded off my computer (I left the sound of my dog barking in one of them) to the background of slideshows or really bad quality screen recordings, which I think put viruses on my computer.

I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.

Oh god, I had so many bad Getting Crap Past the Radar entries from when I was 12 and barely knew what a sexual innuendo was. Look at this from Radar.Chowder:

God, I need to cut that. A weblink, a ZCE, and it's not even an example because it's just showing the reaction to a dirty joke, not even suggesting anything explicitly dirty.

I think the worst, though, are my old fanfic pages. Back then I expected all of my work to blow up so I started troping my fics before I even wrote more than one chapter. I'd trope things I never actually wrote, and now I can't even add context to them because I barely remember what the context was. I also once added a Radar subpage to a fanfiction page (it was my friend's fic), which was all just a list of innuendo. Yeah.
