Its also depressingly common. There's nothing a corporation hates more than a union that protects their worker's rights, because it means they can't abuse them and pay them minimal pay.
Its why actors like Laura Bailey and Troy Baker don't do Anime dubs anymore. Besides both being high profile actors now, the fact that most Anime dubs are non-union means they won't work.
Rather infamously, Sega asked Sonic the Hedgehog's original voice actor, Ryan Drummond, to leave his union if he wanted to be recast as Sonic. Naturally he declined, but you can see where the heads pace of where these corporations are at.
They'd rather compromise the integrity of the product than even think about putting out extra cash or worker's rights. It's disgusting.
I'm probably gonna unsubscribe from Crunchyroll for the foreseeable future.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. That's why I'll stick with Netflix and possibly Disney+, they at least offer Unionized dubs. I don't care if I'll have to wait for a show to come out and then drop all episodes at once, I'd rather watch some anime with Union coverage.
In fact, Netflix's Union deal is called one of the best Union deals for voice overs of all time, even though it's not perfect
"Cynicism is not realistic and tough. It's unrealistic and kind of cowardly because it means you don't have to try."Kyle McCarley Responds to Crunchyroll Statement about Mob Psycho 100 Simuldub Recasting
So basically if true, they're aren't really replacing everyone aside from Kyle as Mob and will actually allow remote recording if necessary.
CR is looking dumber each day.

"Cynicism is not realistic and tough. It's unrealistic and kind of cowardly because it means you don't have to try."^ The guy is actually in the manga, the demon possessing him is not. In the manga it's just that conversation, and the guy is just a random walk-in to Reigen's office, they don't make a house call. Reigen just talks to him off-screen and gives him a massage to make him feel better, he's not possessed. I actually had to go back to check to make sure I wasn't misremembering things.

Ep 2: The Yokai hunter chapter was adapted so well. Amakusa being super-serious was freaking hilarious, and they even brought out the Sakuga for the fights against the Hundred Demon Generals, for no reason. And people thought they would skip this...

I love how classic Mob Psycho this episode was, with Mob not really caring about the ghoulies and was more concerned with his more mundane school festival project. And he actually finds a solution on his own! My boy is growing.
Also can I also get uber rich parents that’ll lend me millions of bucks to fund my hobbies

Episode 3: High horse Mob is hilarious. That butt-chin face.
Broccoli Mob (literally) looks gnarly. I’m assuming that’s the divine energy gathered by the giant broccoli, given humanoid form.
And oh hey Tsubomi is so much more relatable because of her snot accident. Haha.

Ah. Finally. Finally we see THE SHIRT in all of its horrendously tacky glory. This was a good breather episode between the first two which had action (even some non-manga action but executed masterfully) and the next two which will get pretty heavy. I suspect that this arc will be wrapped up in the next two episodes. One episode of the psychic club/camping trip, and then we're into the final arc of the show.
I didn't think seeing Broccoli Mob in colour would be quite as offputting as it ended up being, but that's honestly a good thing. It's supposed to be creepy and gross.
Heh. I loved the Butt-Chin Mob part. After all the effort he put into improving himself and learning to interact with others, and after actually getting a little better, it's endearingly realistic to see it get to his head. You just... want him to enjoy this, because he deserves a bit of overconfidence, but at the same time you know the other shoe will drop sooner or later. And the big guy voice just makes it even better.
@PushoverMediaCritic — had to mention that i don't think the animators lavishing so much attention on the depressed man's cigarettes in ep 1 was for no reason.
reigen used to smoke; the series implies during the second season that he either gave it up entirely or just refrained around mob after the boy entered his life. this man's smoking is thus extra torture for the phony psychic, on top of the roaches and filth in his home. i read it as a Brick Joke.
