That depends:
Does the name Shiro ring a bell?
I mean, they didn't call him Sven, but we all know somebody has to make room for the princess.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah, Shiro is the new Sven. He's even named after the Go Lion counterpart that became Sven in the American version.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).We haven't so much as seen footage and already there's signs that the crewmembers have Shown Their Work.
Wait, didn't Lauren Montgomery direct that Mickey Mouse short "Get a Horse!"?
EDIT: Disregard that question. I was thinking of Lauren MacMullan. My mistake.

I totally want them to do the Vehicle Voltron as well.
And then....
Oh god. Fleet of doom was so cheesy. I felt like a kid again watching it.
So how do you guys think this will do? This isn't the first time they've tried to do their own Voltron.
Third Dimension was painful (What's love go to do, got to do with it?) but I know nothing of Force, so I can't make any judgements.

One Strip! One Strip!Allura's nanny was killed in the Japanese original, too. In the American version, she just mysteriously vanished and was never referred to again after a particular episode.
Even though they didn't kill Sven in the American version, they did give him an interesting story. He showed up again later with pretty bad ptsd, trying to help a resistance movement on the planet on which he was convalescing.
Describing it as a Game of Thrones feel is a weird way to describe a kids cartoon about a colorful combining robot that fights evil when most people associate Go T with sex and everybody dying.
"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"Honestly comparisons to Go T are worthless to me since they could be used to describe any aspect. It's just the hottest thing in geek culture right now, so they associate any quality they can to it.
I think Bryke compared Korra to Go T as well.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).I love Legend of Korra but that comparison makes no sense to me. People need to stop comparing things to Go T just because it's what's hugely popular right now.
I'm digging the posters a lot though.

"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"That's a fucking badass poster.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Here's a couple of sources on the Wonder Con panel with a LOT of info, including character designs, cast, footage, and release date.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).I can definitely see the Avatar influence in the character art, that guy named Hunk is basically a dark skinned Bolin.

"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"Alura's design is really different. Outside of her and Shiro the others don't look too different from their classical depictions really.
I'm looking forward to this honestly. Been a long time since we saw an old fashioned Combining Mecha series.
Wonder if this will get a Japanese dub? I recall that Go Lion isn't quite as meaningful to Japan as Voltron is to us.
One Strip! One Strip! The only combining mecha series I've seen is Gurren Lagann. It didn't exactly make me crave robots combining into a huge mecha, but if the animation and art for this Voltron is as good as we're seeing so far then I'm totally up for it.
"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"So how different do the redesigns look like from the original cast exactly?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Wow good on them getting Rhys Darby for a character who looks like an alien version of Rhys Darby!
@diyedas Which is funny because, according to the character descriptions, Lance resembles Bolin more in personality.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).He's more of the comic relief character? Does he flirt too?
"That's a to-go order. See! It's already gone!!"EDIT

Yup, he does. It's in the article.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).These are pretty faithful to the spirit of the original designs. Lance's face even looks pretty much the same. I like how they masked the CGI so it doesn't look out of place with the hand drawn animation.
The Voltron Force typified the Five-Man Band, pretty much perfectly (though I believe the trope was more or less created by Gatchaman, unless I'm mistaken). Keith is the Leader, Lance in the Lancer (big surprise, huh?) Pidge is the Smart Guy, Hunk is the Big Guy, and Alura is the Chick. We never saw enough of Sven (Shiro) in the beginning to get to know him, and when he showed up again at the end he'd endured a lot.
Given that the article says Keith is piloting the Red Lion, and that Shiro looks significantly older than the other guys. my guess is Shiro's going to start out as the leader in this iteration (and pilot the Black Lion), and then have to be replaced by Keith when something happens to him. But who knows?

Shiro in my opinion has the coolest look outta the five.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I'm guessing that is exactly what happens. Especially since Montgomery said they would like to eventually have Allura become a pilot like in the original show.
They might keep Shiro around a little longer this time.
Gonna be interesting to see.
One Strip! One Strip!
Nice. Looks cool.
Anyone wanna bet one of the teens is gonna be the Sacrificial Lion?
