Hey tropers, the day has arrived. If you were one of our Kickstarter donators last year you've probably seen us tinkering with a new design for months. Within the next couple hours (depending on how fast your DNS updates you'll start hitting our new servers with the updated version of TV Tropes). A huge thanks to those of you who have been monitoring it and giving us feedback throughout the development process. Some of the new features include:
- Updated design throughout for a cleaner browsing experience
- One click sign in with Facebook
- Random Shuffle button to stay on a namespace (hit Random Media then the Shuffle button to randomize that namespace)
- Browse Watchlist in an image view
- History page now highlights sentences that were deleted/added to make it easier to review changes
- New image uploader with built in crop function
- New About Us page so you can see who we are.
- Contact Us form
- Trope Depictions on the home page (artists can submit their own comic to go with a trope)
- Bug List page Query Bugs (and Query Wishlist for tech wishes) to organize and track bugs on the site.
Ok. Let the feedback begin. (See Anxiety Tropes for my current feelings)
Notes:
- Please do not bother asking for the old design to come back. The lease of the old servers did expire at the day of the changeover, the new ones cannot run the old design.
- You can move the sidebar to the left by going into your profile and selecting Lefthand Sidebar.

From an ergonomic standpoint, I'm not all that crazy about how scrunched the content is.
I recommend the side bar area be decreased in width as much as possible to reduce this problem, as the current look has a greatly condensed screen area,
A slightly larger font would also be good.
Left alignment of the sidebar as a default would also be good since this is a English language website and the English language is a left to right oriented language, which would make reading easier for the content area especially.

Pardon, but I'd say to not have the sidebar - which is mostly for regular and logged in tropers anyway - in the way as the first thing is an improvement.
~Tuefel Hunden IV: Not as far as I know. Probably because there is no proposal yet.

Creator of the Avatar Arena and its Discord server.I have been meaning to ask... Where did the "Title Search" button go?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.
The button is gone, but the form still exists
. I added it to Itty Bitty Wiki Tools, which can be found in the Administrivia index.
Mostly I was asking to see if anything was planned. I don't know enough how the current system works in detail and what options the mods have in setting up voting schemes to make any suggestions. I think that might be more a thing for the moderation since that is largely tool used by them.
Who watches the watchmen? Is TV Tropes 1.3 more data intensive than the old version?
I ask 'cause just about the only thing I use the Internet connection on my smartphone for is to check the TV Tropes forums while on my lunch break at work. That means almost all the data usage on my phone is going to come from TV Tropes, and since my lunch breaks are always the same length, how much I use the site on my phone isn't going to change much day-to-day. So when I find out that I've somehow used up more data in the last two weeks than I normally use in a month, I've gotta wonder if a change in the site is responsible.
@ Solip Schism Actually, I can't find it thats why I'm not sure if they never existed (I was pretty sure I remembered that it did though), they don't exist anymore, or if I just can't find them anymore.
I think that the adds are now much more data intensive.
Speaking of that. I'm cross posting this with the ad report thread. I've run across (and hopefully reported) a full screen pop-up ad, it's for Pow Wow and can be closed out easily enough but it takes up the entire screen and has a relay, so you can loose typing if you type fast like I do. I couldn't attack it to a ad directly but the bottom banner ad was empty while the others were not Pow Wow, so I reported that one, I can't find out if that's it though, so I figured I'd post what info I had and name the company that the ad is for.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranIf the thing with the avatars in the top bar is supposed to be fixed, mine still isn't showing up in Chrome and Windows10, or in Safari on iOS 9 for iPhone 5s.
It looks like the history isn't doing the weird "Diff Lines" thing that made it impossible to see the context, but if both the removed and added content is going to be in the bottom box, can the removed content at least have a strikethrough or something, so there's more emphasis on the content that's actually part of the new content? Right now the differentiation the removed content has from the unchanged content isn't more or less than the added content, just different.
I may have said this in Dragon, but I think I have less of a problem with the right-hand fat sidebar here than I did in the version rolled out a year ago. I don't think it chews up too much screen real estate on my 1366x768 laptop screen.
It still does that on mobile.
Peace is the only battle worth waging. It's still doing it for me on some pages, and I'm using a laptop.

Hugging a Vanillite will give you frostbite.Okay, I thought new edits weren't getting the DiffLines treatment, but it looks like maybe it's only doing that when new content is added (or maybe when old content is removed without replacement), as opposed to an existing paragraph being changed, based on Unwinnable by Design's history. (Looking at another page, it looks like added paragraphs don't get the treatment if they're part of a larger edit that changes paragraphs.) Still at least a potential problem that those edits don't have a context link.

I would like it if all added text was highlighted in green, and all deleted text was highlighted in red, regardless of what type of edit (addition, change, or deletion) it's classified as. Makes no sense to have different colour schemes for different edit types.
Check out my fanfiction!

Kendra Kirai, you still don't see your avatar on the top right hand corner? What OS/Browser are you using? Can you post a screenshot? I haven't seen any other reports of this but I want to make sure this is not effecting other users.
