Hey tropers, the day has arrived. If you were one of our Kickstarter donators last year you've probably seen us tinkering with a new design for months. Within the next couple hours (depending on how fast your DNS updates you'll start hitting our new servers with the updated version of TV Tropes). A huge thanks to those of you who have been monitoring it and giving us feedback throughout the development process. Some of the new features include:
- Updated design throughout for a cleaner browsing experience
- One click sign in with Facebook
- Random Shuffle button to stay on a namespace (hit Random Media then the Shuffle button to randomize that namespace)
- Browse Watchlist in an image view
- History page now highlights sentences that were deleted/added to make it easier to review changes
- New image uploader with built in crop function
- New About Us page so you can see who we are.
- Contact Us form
- Trope Depictions on the home page (artists can submit their own comic to go with a trope)
- Bug List page Query Bugs (and Query Wishlist for tech wishes) to organize and track bugs on the site.
Ok. Let the feedback begin. (See Anxiety Tropes for my current feelings)
Notes:
- Please do not bother asking for the old design to come back. The lease of the old servers did expire at the day of the changeover, the new ones cannot run the old design.
- You can move the sidebar to the left by going into your profile and selecting Lefthand Sidebar.

~kyun, try installing Flash Block. It cuts out the clunky, memory-intensive Flash stuff, while still letting the ad load to give the site the ad revenue.
Be careful what you wish for, 'cause you might just get it all...Can someone report a focus stealing ad and put in the comment "focus-stealing"? The report feature sends us the actual code the ad is executing so I can analyze it and find a way to block them as well.
If you have a problem with flash ads newer browsers have the ability to block them from auto-starting. I believe the newest version of Chrome does this by default.
Someone recommended Flash Block to me.
So now I have it enabled, but I can't play Youtube videos easily because they run on swfs or HTML 5!
Did work pages have a history button before or am I just imagining that? I honestly like the new look but now I have no idea if I'm just imagining that certain features were placed where I thought they were. It's actually kind of creepy like finding your house keys somewhere your pretty sure you didn't put them.
This is terrible. My avatar doesn't appear at the top right, so I had NO idea how to do my profile, log out, etc, the sidebar is FAR too wide (Seriously, there is absolutely no reason for it to be that wide except to accommodate those ad banners, which is bull. DO NOT BUILD YOUR SITE LAYOUT AROUND THE ADS. PLACE ADS TO FIT YOUR SITE LAYOUT. The sidebar is about fifteen characters wider than it needs to be for ANYTHING ELSE.)
This is just a *mess*.
