Hey tropers, the day has arrived. If you were one of our Kickstarter donators last year you've probably seen us tinkering with a new design for months. Within the next couple hours (depending on how fast your DNS updates you'll start hitting our new servers with the updated version of TV Tropes). A huge thanks to those of you who have been monitoring it and giving us feedback throughout the development process. Some of the new features include:
- Updated design throughout for a cleaner browsing experience
- One click sign in with Facebook
- Random Shuffle button to stay on a namespace (hit Random Media then the Shuffle button to randomize that namespace)
- Browse Watchlist in an image view
- History page now highlights sentences that were deleted/added to make it easier to review changes
- New image uploader with built in crop function
- New About Us page so you can see who we are.
- Contact Us form
- Trope Depictions on the home page (artists can submit their own comic to go with a trope)
- Bug List page Query Bugs (and Query Wishlist for tech wishes) to organize and track bugs on the site.
Ok. Let the feedback begin. (See Anxiety Tropes for my current feelings)
Notes:
- Please do not bother asking for the old design to come back. The lease of the old servers did expire at the day of the changeover, the new ones cannot run the old design.
- You can move the sidebar to the left by going into your profile and selecting Lefthand Sidebar.

But there are a couple other things that keep popping up (going to the old design, sidebar, etc etc).
On empty crossroads, seek the eclipse -- for when Sol and Lua align, the lost shall find their way home.Like the clean new mobile page, but on landscape view the sidebar looks too wide. I suggest making it more compact so that it does not consume too much space. (Page space ratio looks much like 70-30; suggestion would be, I dunno, 75-25 or 80-20?)

Sed regresso retributio. Carpe Diem. Deus lo Vult...@Silasw: They could if they didn't have Night Vision on, and once they realize it isn't just not loading, they'll probably toggle Night Vision to check if that's it.
@Oro Crimson, last page: I think those show up when you hit Browse TV Tropes, over on the left. Similarly, you have to hit Ask the Tropers to get to the Wishlist or Bugs things.

i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, babyMmm. It's well-done, I like it. I can't say I'm a big fan of sticky headers, but I'm glad that's a toggle. ...And I'd appreciate being able to put it back to the old middle-oriented format, rather than this left-oriented one with the extra stuff on the right. But besides that, it's nice. Better than the previous look, I'd say.

Oh, actually, if there's one thing I really have to complain about, it's that History is in the "More" section on each page. I'd prefer if it were out in the open since it's one of my more commonly-used hotlinks. It'd probably be better to have it up there than Page Source, which isn't quite as useful...
Recap of some of the mentioned feedback people have just in case people repeat:
General 1) Side-bar being too large. 2) Side-bar defaulting to the right side (This CAN be switched in your profile) 3) Too much empty space. 4) Image Uploader broken. 5) Preview option for page-making gone. 6) Gray-on-white background too dull looking. 7) Random Trope and Random Media buttons looking out-of-place. 8) "Home" on the Header being redundant since clicking Tv Tropes goes to the same place. 9) The annoyance of the Ad Block takedown message. (it CAN be blocked) 10) YMMV entries having the "Move to YMMV entry symbol," which happens on the Trivia pages as well.
Night-Vision 1) Light-pink background on white lettering being hard to see. 2) Pinned messages being invisible due to white-text on white-background.
RLLThe filter on the New Edits page doesn't work. Choosing an entry from the filter menu only reloads the page and doesn't actually filter anything out.
Disclaimer: All opinions expressed by C60 are well-reasoned and insightful. Needless to say, they do not represent those of TV Tropes.org.Just felt like mentioning that Twisted Tropes doesn't have a wiki page for its sidebar ad to go to.
If'n anybody cares, or, y'know, knows what the hell Twisted Tropes is, they might want to get on that.

i care but i'm restless, i'm here but i'm really gone, i'm wrong and i'm sorry, babyOkay, upon changing the side-bar to the left-hand side, I can safely say that the problem is that it's just too large.
Oh God! Natural light! As expressed by others, the sidebar is kinda too big. It makes the articles seem really small. Since it appears to be that the ads are the reason for the sidebar length, then perhaps rethinking the ads' length maybe needed. I'm not well versed in the whole ad thing but maybe ads should be better designed/added in a way that it doesn't disrupt the main articles either in a big way or a subtle way very noticeably. I don't know if I worded it right but that's my opinion I guess.
The option to move the sidebar to the left being found in the profile may need to be added to the list of changes on top of this feedback or at least in a place where the info can easily be found. It kinda keeps being asked from the looks of things.
The new highlights of different edits in history thing is very useful for single entries/lines/sentences but when applied to other aspects, it looks somewhat more of a mess than before at least in one case I've seen so far. Take this history
. When there is single line changed as with the 8th Feb '16 10:38:29 AM edit by me, the differences can be spotted. When whole large sections are moved/added as with the 11th Nov '15 1:20:02 PM edits by wolviepris, it becomes a mess. It's kinda more useless than what was presented before when huge sections were involved. Other than that, it would be nice if the bullet points and new lines were taken into account as they were before.
Something like this below looks messy in a history entry:
* Arm Cannon: She has one * Hand Cannon: She has this as well
Something like this however looks better:
* Arm Cannon: She has one
* Hand Cannon: She has this as well
Edit:
The Add Review option for main articles seems to move History option into the More sections which basically makes the latter hidden. Since as history is a go to, it needs to be more easily found right away.

I don't seem to be having any problems with the search engine thingy, and I'm running Adblock, though it does seem to be a bit slower than usual.
Also, why are YMMV pages yellow?
Also, whatever happened to the tinfoil hat dude for the WMG pages?
Also, looking at the preview thing, for some reason typing contractions like "don't" produces "don\'t" in the preview box.
Sounds like an escaping bug. Definitely worth adding to the buglist
.
There is one minor design issue annoying me which isn't the forum buttons: can we please have our blue background back? Not Facebook blue, or Twitter blue, or Tumblr blue, but good old TV Tropes blue. This is all so sleek and shiny and once I don't have to scroll back up every forum page I'll stop complaining but without the blue it isn't the TV Tropes we know and love. Everyone has said this already, and you don't have to fix it, but it would be nice.

Sidebar is much too large. Many websites like to go and change things unnecessarily and have new designs for some insane reason, and because it is forced it is often terrible. Like Timeline and Youtube and so on.
But this doesn't look too bad. Though I am more used to the older design, personally I only find the overly wide sidebar to be a problem. The articles are a bit too cramped now so I have to zoom out to read comfortably. I think narrowing the sidebar would make this just nice.

Problem is the people with the pinned post issue can't see the pinned post that would tell them that the issue is known.
