According to Ben, creative differences. He wanted different things then the rest of TFS, and it was decided it was best for both sides for Ben to leave.
Figured it was along those lines.
Hopefully he'll still stick around for TFS At The Table...
I hope so too. We already lost Wake. Dagon's neat as a substitute, but I miss Wake's idiocy/edgelord combo. His deliberate efforts to be the cool, brooding team badass were constantly undermined by the fact that he's just so dumb ("There's no such thing as undead!") and brimming with enthusiasm that outweighs his ability. This made for a fantastic character.
I really miss Wake and Nedra. They were, like, half of what made the campaign so great.
Eloy's the other half. If he goes, that's pretty much the final nail in the coffin for the campaign's appeal. The last vestige of the wackiness that made this campaign so much fun leaves with Eloy.
All respect to Zito and the world he's crafted, but it ultimately was never the story that made this campaign so appealing. It was always shit like Wake and Nedra repeatedly losing duels to Ray the Tap-Dancing Zombie, a Minor Illusion Eloy created as a practice target, and landing themselves overboard.

TFS are almost always guests at my local Comicon, usually Kaiser, Lani, and Ben. It's gonna be weird not having Ben there anymore.
I am curious what direction the company will be moving in in the future. I don't know where their disagreements were, but abridging is a media phenomenon that is reaching the point where it will either have to evolve or die out. I'd like to see more full dubs from the team in the future, but many of their number aren't just voice actors. Youtube creators as a whole are facing difficulties regarding how to move forward. Its a curious atmosphere and I don't envy their position.
They have already stated that they have no intentions of doing any more abridged series. Once DBZA and FFMA are done, they are finished with abridging.
Then there's the other big question. What comes next? What form does TFS take when their main draw has dried up?
Taking a stab at the General Famous Internet Person gig?
Do more licensed dubs?
Get salary jobs?
Kaiser's GOW stream reminded me that Lani's GOW streams kinda vanished due to the whole Twitch archive thing.
Yeah, Twitch made it so now archives only last for a month and then disappear.
But yeah, from what I remember they'll be moving onto a general Rooster Teeth-style production company. TFS Gaming and stuff like what they did with Hells, along with Tabletop stuff like DND, but otherwise entirely original things.
Has anyone heard anything about Ben allegedly leaving the team? Someone mentioned that in this thread and said there'd be a video Monday about it, but Monday came and went with no such announcement.
There's also nothing on his Twitter to suggest he left the team.
But he has been missing from TFS at the Table, which has done filler episodes playing other games for two weeks straight now.
I've been wondering that, too.
I think it was from a Twitch stream.
Here's Lani talking about it, and here's Ben talking about it.
Alright. I'm glad to hear that Ben does plan to come back to the Table and keep on with Eloy, because he's seriously the best part of that campaign.
Looking forward to where his new ideas will take him.
Given what we were told earlier about TFS not doing any more Abridged series after Dragon Ball and Final Fantasy VII, I bet you the artistic differences were over an Abridging Ben wanted to do.

Actually he wants to do meaningful pieces like this:
Ah, good, I was worried about the Table when I saw two card games in a row.
Not that I don't like that they're doing stuff other than DND doing funny card games and stuff (I've actually been holding out hope that they'd do Kingdom Death Monster at some point) but I'd still hate for them to have to stop the campaign.
I'm glad it was an amicable split, too, especially after what happened with Two Best Friends Play.

Yeah, I'm glad this wasn't caused by something that challenged their friendship.

I finally watched Hellsing Abridged. Suddenly almost a decade of references on the internet make sense.
I stand by their interpretation that homosexuality is only Biblically sinful if it's a dude f*cking another dude in the vagina, specifically. "A man shall not lay with another man as he would a woman", indeed.
EDIT: On second thought, that still screws over transmen. Huh.

On the other other hand, Integra telling Alucard to fuck Walter in the vagina may imply that Walter is a trans man.
On side note, what is up with comedians wanting to move on to stuff where goal is being meaningful?
Like, is that form of middle life crisis where people get bored of the thing they are good at and want to do something else or what? .-.
Well, they're all basically actors. At some point you must want to expand from just comedy/drama/action/whatever your main role usually is.
It's because people just don't like doing the same, safe thing over and over again. People like leaving the nest and trying something new and dangerous.
