Indeed, that's like saying that with Coco they forgot that Mexico has a diferent culture thanthe rest of south america. That movie doesn't need and souldn't represent all of Asia as a whole, and that wasn't it's intention either.
Still, the fact that they are kind of locked out from a good chunk of the region they are representing this time is kind of funny.
Wake me up at your own risk.Raya is a box office flop, even by pandemic standards. Cinemark’s decision to not play the film is cited as part of the reason.
Yeah that is pretty underwhelming. Comparing Tom and Jerry’s $5,539 theater average to Raya’s $4,205. At least it will have plenty of time to recover as there won’t be another family film until May.
I think 30 bucks was a mistake. Look at Soul.
Mileena MadnessBut how many do they need? They have 100 million subscribers, so every 1% that buys early access is $30 million that Disney doesn't have to split with anyone. Note that the box office numbers are for in-person theaters only; Disney doesn't release viewing data for Disney+.

Also, keep in mind that as of November, Mulan was the 6th most streamed movie on VOD services. Somehow I doubt the price tag is dissuasive, especially with a much more widely-well received work.
SoundCloudIsn't Mulan free now? Plus it's rumored to have bombed super hard anyway (even with streaming payments) and has had issues with piracy.
You also have to consider that list is only counting single movies without giving the hard data. People could be binging TV shows way more for all we know.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Mulan generated interest when it was no longer behind that absurd paywall. That’s admittedly to be expected, people watching something they avoided due to cost. And it had its release to itself.
Raya had the bad luck of the $30 paywall being coupled with not even being the biggest release Disney+ had that week, a release behind no such paywall that the entire country was watching. Raya wasn’t mentioned on late night monologues.
Mulan was behind the paywall until December, so that means that as of that listing, those were all paid views. And given the fact I... honestly don't see a lot of need to rewatches it's unlikely they lost a lot on repeat customers.
While we don't have hard numbers, honestly seeing it that high on that list is shocking to me. It might still be a flop since it cost so much, but it did way better than I thought.

Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.Isn't that article about numbers since November? A month before Mulan went free? It sounds like people only started checking it out after the extra paywall went away.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?... no? The dateline is for November 4, 2020 so... no?
Also, if you look at the methodology, the data is "watched within 7 days of release" so... there's that.

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. You know, I think there needs to be alot more re-releases in theaters to make up for lost time.
Well, expect Disney to re-release Avengers: Endgame in theaters in several months to reclaim the record from Disney to Disney.
The true winner is Zoe Saldana for being in both of them.
Per the mods' repellant efforts to avoid all responsibility, I regret to announce this is the end of my time on TVT. I'm going now. Goodbye.Step 1: Cast Zoe Saldana.
Step 2: Get her to play a alien under heavy makeup/CGI.
Step 3: ??????
Step 4: Profit.
Hoping Alamo Drafthouse manages to recover someday. Its probably my favorite theater chain.
If for the food then anything else. The Coca Cola barbeque wings were to die for.
Watch SymphogearI just went to a movie theater like that this past Friday; the Hollywood Palms.
Heaven is a tropical rainforest. We've got blue and green so far, so we only need 5 more blockbusters to make a Zoe Saldana rainbow.
So...
Looks like Godzilla vs Kong did really well this 5-day-weekend with a pandemic-record-breaking opening of $48.5 million dollars which seems to indicate that moviegoers are starting to feel more comfortable going back to the theaters.
Not sure were would this go, but it probably fits in this thread.
Amazon is in negotiations to acquire MGM Studios for $9 billion.
Amazon must have done that in response the Warber Bros Discovery merger.
Watch SymphogearSeems they've been in negotiations for weeks. The Warner/Discovery was done nearly behind everyone's backs, no one knew until this weekend.
As the article mentions, MGM put themselves for sale since December.
This article has a rather telling quote:
- Moreover, industry sources say the strategic move that made such a splash last December — when WarnerMedia at Kilar’s direction opted for simultaneous releases in theaters and on HBO Max for Warner Bros.’ 2021 movie slate — is seen as a major misstep because it is shaping up to cost the studio over $1 billion in lost box office revenue, talent profit participation payments and in high license fees paid for the movies from HBO Max. Unless the pace of HBO Max subscriber additions pick up significantly in the coming months, the high cost of the movie content for the streamer will be hard to justify.
Now you see why Disney is paywalling blockbusters on D+. As far as Soul and Luca go, Disney was probably betting more on merch sales for those than box office gross (The Good Dinosaur should've been seen as a warning sign).

"The devil's got all the good gear. What's God got? The Inspiral Carpets and nuns. Fuck that." - Liam Gallagher
I don't really see how there's "forgetting" involved, but some viewers in Southeast Asia have reported being unable to access Disney+ in their countries so that may be a significant factor.
Per the mods' repellant efforts to avoid all responsibility, I regret to announce this is the end of my time on TVT. I'm going now. Goodbye.
