Camryn realized she had zoned out for a bit, and before she could say anything, everyone had already gone inside, so she figured that she'd stay outside with... uh, what was this guy's name again? "Hey dude, what's your name? Don't think I've ever actually talked to you before. I'm Camryn, by the way."
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor HebertTeo was busy finding a good spot to aim from when Camryn greeted him. He looked up with a smile. "Hey Camryn, I'm Teo. I'd shake your hand, but..." He nodded at the nocked bow he held. "Heh, probably should've done the introductions before leaving. This your first quest?"
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGobKatie looked at the other two demigods outside the cave and smiled. "Nice to meet both of you. I'm Katie. And yes, this is my first quest too. So, what all can you do?"
Matthew pointed his hand up and released a soft globe of light... and immediately wished he hadn't.
The harpies had been roosting up near the top of the chamber. Half a dozen bird-women with filthy grey feathered wings, as well as human arms and hand with fingers that ended in three-inch talons that could probably slice through metal fairly well, to say nothing of what they'd do to flesh. And of course, the light had just woken them up, and they were not happy about it.
Matthew's face fell as he drew his khopesh, which ignited with golden flames. "Retreat towards the entrance! We'll have to meet up with the others!"

Forward, boys! For God's sake, forward!Harpy Cave
As she saw the harpies a silent "Not good" was everything Aicha said, before slowly starting to back away - normally she'd position herself before Matthew but since those harpies would attack from above that wasn't really an option. She gripped her own Khopesch even tighter, ready to strike against any harpy foolish enough to think they'd not fight back.
"One may feel fear in the face of danger so long as one banishes fear when danger actually arrives""Yeah, this is my first. Hopefully things don't get FUBARed, I'd rather not deal with it."
"I can shoot lightning from my hands and make mini-tornadoes, which is why I didn't bother grabbing a weapon. The mini-tornadoes are kinda tiring, but they do a lot more damage than the lightning bolts, so it's a fair trade."

“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor Hebert"Hey Katie." said Teo, smiling back at her. And then he chuckled at Camryn's reply. "Well, it's only a couple harpies. Shouldn't be too hard with all of us."
"Lightning and storms are pretty awesome. As for me, I can shoot things. Not half-bad at it too. Can heal people, tame wild animals, and... well, that." He nodded at the ground. Rocks were tumbling out the way, and grass was unknotting itself, making it easier for them to stand. "Kind of a mixed bag. What about you, Katie?"
they/them || "Forgive me, regent of queer amphibians" - Lt.BGob"Yeah, I can do storms, too. Mostly a little bit of wind, with some lightning thrown in there. I got a thing for plants as well." Katie peered into the cavern. "Is that... oh my gods!" She dashed into the cave.
Why she did that was immediately obvious, and had to do with the mayhem breaking out inside. Three of the harpies had descended, each one taking on one of the nearby demigods. Matthew's opponent forced him back half a dozen steps as he continued to block slashes, but he managed to score a strike on the right hip, forcing the harpy to retreat into the air. He yelled towards the entrance, "Could use a little help here!" Granted, that wasn't really necessary, given the fact that his light was bright enough to provide some illumination at the entrance.
Forward, boys! For God's sake, forward!Harpy Cave
Aicha quickly switched weapons, she holstered her Khopesch and got out a bola, she threw the bola immidieatly, aiming for one of the nearby harpies, hoping to entangle her wings, after all a harpy who was bound to the ground was an easy kill.

"One may feel fear in the face of danger so long as one banishes fear when danger actually arrives"The reinforcements started to turn the tide, as it seemed that six harpies were more than a match for three demigods, but even numbers tilted the playing field the other way. Case in point: Camryn's lightning bolt, which knocked an already injured harpy down to the ground, where Katie's spear finished it off. Aicha's bolas tangled up another one as easy pickings, while Matthew caught a third with a glancing hit from a fireball. If things kept up, the fight would be over rather quickly.
My next post will finish up the fight, and then we can have a little more slice-of-life before the real fun begins. [evilgrin]
Forward, boys! For God's sake, forward!Logan must have put everything he had into the swing, because it shattered the harpy's fairly strong wing bones. Matthew put it out of its misery as Katie took out another one that been downed by Aicha's bolas. Three down, three to go.
Camryn's lightning bolt slew a fourth harpy as Aicha's bolas tangled up a fifth. Nobody saw who finished off that one, but it died nonetheless. That just left one wounded harpy, and Matthew put it down with a fireball.
The fight was over, and Matthew looked around. "Six harpies and six of us. We each claim a feather off a different bird as a trophy and get out of here. I dunno if this truly qualifies as a quest worthy of the old days, but we still get a feast, and with all this marching and fighting, I've worked up an appetite."
Forward, boys! For God's sake, forward!Camryn promptly plucked a feather from the closest harpy, which happened to be one she had taken out. It was a bit singed, but it was still serviceable. She stuck it in her hair so that it stood straight up, and asked "What do you guys think about my new accessory?"

Aicha took one of the feathers of the harpy that was hit by her first bola. As she held it in her hand she looked at the feather for a bit, the thing was brown-grey-ish and not damaged Okay, I'll take this one She took a short leather strap and fixed the feather to it before binding it around her arm "Looks nice."

"One may feel fear in the face of danger so long as one banishes fear when danger actually arrives""I didn't know this was a thing," said Logan as he kneeled down in front of the wing he'd broken off, "but I think I could get used to it." He plucked a feather off the wing and looked up to find everyone else was making them into accessories. This confused him a bit, but once he found a suitable crease in the collar of one of his sneakers, he put the feather in. He'd put tickets and the like there when he didn't have any suitable pockets to use, so this would probably work just as well for now. "As for the feast, I don't know what we're supposed to have, but if wings aren't on the menu, I'm gonna be disappointed."
Just pretend I wrote something witty here, okay?Harpy Cave
As they all got their trophies Aicha walked to Matthew again. "By the way, I didn't get to ask you beforehand, how should I call you? Something more traditional or would you be fine with something else?"

In the Harpy Cave
Aicha followed, she was a little surprised that Matthew wanted to go in since he said a lot of his powers needed open sky, but his reasons to get into the cave were valid and she didn't want to question him in there. Thankfully he really was a big help in here, she held the giant shield tightly. The Khopesch was in her left hand. As she saw the big cave a shower was send through her spine, that was in no way good. She assumed a battle ready stance. "I'm ready."
