I think we're cutting it?
Also holy crap this stuff gets mentioned on the Pantheon a lot.
Wick count for Mary Sue is currently about 2,335 or something.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?- shrug*
Ok, then. I suggest moving the Mary Sue tropes to Darth Wiki, where Dethroning Moment of Suck and So Bad It's Horrible are, but that's just me.
All the important entries can probably be classified under Creator's Pet anyway, that's a broad enough umbrella term.
Creator's Pet gets misused enough already and has 4 specific pieces of criteria that need to be fulfilled. Don't just dump examples there.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? Then put them under Character Shilling; that's what most of the Mary Sue entries I've seen are for. Actually, banning Mary Sue and Canon Sue could be a good thing, since that's describing the characters themselves rather than the reason they get accused of being Mary Sues.
Would that work, do you think?
Character Shilling is an objective trope, so that wouldn't work.
Also, I made a request in the Locked Pages thread to add Canon Sue and Neutrality Sue, as they were both missed.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I dunno, I've seen people argue back and forth about Character Shilling before; but it's late and I'm tired and my Tourette's is acting up, and I'm new here anyway so I probably don't know what the hell I'm talking about. :/
It just kind of sucks, because there's a lot of really valid criticism under Mary Sue tropes in various YMMV pages, such as the Eragon page.
If you feel like the writer did a poor job, there's always the option of writing a (non-Flame Bait) review.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? But reviews are entirely subjective, and I don't know how many people read them. I just...it seems like a huge waste, to just junk all that stuff, including the unequivocal Mary Sue entries like Enoby etc. from "My Immortal".
But again, it's late and my arms spent an hour earlier trying to dislocate themselves, so I could be barking up the wrong tree. :/
I don't know what you mean by "unequivocal", but A Trekkie's Tale can be checked for an example of a work with multiple Mary Sue wicks that should still fit current policy.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Invoked or otherwise referenced examples get to stay. I already went over My Immortal as part of the Anti-Sue cleanup and left them all there.
OK, then, as long as the serious Sues like Eragon, Enoby, and the various bad-fanfic Sues are kept, I was worried about losing those since they're informative and hilarious.
It is unlikely Eragon counts as a permitted Sue example.
Link to TRS threads in project mode here.He wasn't listed anyway, or was and got deleted before I checked.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?Wasn't a Canon Sue supposed to be a canon character made into a Sue in a fanwork?
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."No, that's Possession Sue.

Link to TRS threads in project mode here.Canon Sue is now on the Flame Bait index but still has the YMMV banner, not the Flame Bait banner. Is this intentional?
Edit: As does Neutrality Sue.

Rocks fall, everyone miraculously survives.I changed both banners, but Neutrality Sue doesn't even sound like a trope.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Yeah, as far as my question of how necessary a lot of these sub "tropes" are, Neutrality Sue is Exhibit A. How did it even get out of YKTTW?
I'm very curious as to what works that type is supposed to be in.
It only has three real "examples," of which two are really terrible examples.
Rocks fall, everyone miraculously survives.I noted that Mary Sue Topia is not listed in Flame Bait.
I think that one might be okay. I've seen at least one work that is more or less explicitly designed to be a Mary Sue Topia (well, a deconstruction of one, but still).
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"On the other hand, I've also seen it used to describe the Republic of Haven (note the lack of "People's"), which made me facepalm so hard I almost caved in the front of my skull.

Just out of curiosity, why isn't Canon Sue Flame Bait? All the other Sue tropes are in the Flame Bait index.

To trope, or not to trope...that is the question.
