So I finally decided to play this game after getting it in the Humble Freedom Bundle (an excellent bundle). I picked the Riverland farm, which was probably a mistake since I have less land to work with. But the idea of having a house near a lake appealed to me. I've been spending all my money thus far on seeds for my farm (really banking on potatoes), but I'm hoping that when I get my chicken coop I'll have more stable revenue.
How's the multiplayer going to work? Is it like AC's multiplayer, where you visit the other player in their town? Or is there more to it?

I’m here with an update for those of you who have been waiting so patiently for news on multiplayer! Now that we’ve pinned down the main technical issues, we know enough to feel confident describing the gameplay you can expect from it.
Shortly after you begin the game, Robin will offer to build up to 3 cabins on your farm. Each cabin will house a farmhand, controlled by one of your friends.
Farmhands can do almost anything the main player can do. They can farm, mine, fight, fish, forage, marry NP Cs and take part in festivals. Each player has their own inventory. When a farmhand is not connected, their inventory can be managed through a chest in their cabin.
Certain decisions can be made only by the main player: when to sleep, when to start and end festivals, and whether to side with Joja, for instance.
You won’t need to set up a server to run multiplayer. Friends can be invited onto the farm through Steam. The invite mechanism for non-Steam versions is TBD, but likely to be similar in most cases.
A lot of players have requested player-to-player marriage. It’s an idea we like a lot, and want to make available as a feature. Player-to-player marriage won’t use the mermaid pendant, but rather an alternative method that requires a similar amount of effort to wooing an NPC. We’re still working out what that will be.
Local multiplayer, split-screen and PVP are not planned at this point.
Effort so far has been focused on overcoming the biggest technical hurdle: synchronising multiple games over the Internet. Almost every source file has been touched, and 15,000 lines of code have been rewritten. Retrofitting multiplayer into a game that didn’t have it originally is notoriously hard.
Anyway, that chunk of work is almost complete now and we’re starting to look towards what’s next:
- Implementing the farmhand cabins
- UI and menus
- Events and festivals
- Multiplayer NPC relationships
- Polish, testing and optimisation
We currently expect to be able to start a beta test at the end of the year for Steam users to help us test the game. Mod authors will be encouraged to update their mods during this beta period. Then, in early 2018 we will release it as the 1.3 patch on Windows, Mac and Linux.
Consoles will get the patch too, starting with Nintendo Switch. This will be a bigger patch than usual, so be aware that it will take a while to roll out to each platform.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."
Then you are going to be waiting until possibly Spring 2018 then.
Chucklefish game tester says they are currently testing the Switch port.
Chucklefish CEO tweets out a picture of the game running on a Switch in handheld mode.
Nintendo Switch version coming on October 5th.
I don't think I'll be buying it again, I had my fun on PC, it sucked my life dry, the farmer married Sebastian, and I need to finish a lot of other things...
But maybe if it had save importation, which I doubt.
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!Abigail's favorite hangouts during the spring are the bridge going to Jo Jo Mart, her home (either in her or her parent's room or her father's store), the Museum, or the forest.
Also, on Friday nights nearly every character (except for the few obvious exceptions) heads to the Saloon and hangs out or drinks. Abigail hangs out with Sam and Sebastian on the couch near the pool table.
As for fishing, you make sure the green bar is hovering over the fish and the until the meter fills up, which you do by holding (or not) down the reel-in button (which I think can differ between versions?). Fish will also start spazzing out for the rarer and harder to catch ones.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."You have to give people gifts they like or love. Which ones is a mystery or sometimes the game drops hints... it's probably easier to guide dang it.
When you reach certain heart levels with villagers they will have special events triggered by going to certain places at certain times of day. There's a situation where there's a choice that will get a good answer, neutral answer or bad answer that affects their heart levels.
When you reach 8 hearts you can give them a bouquet to make them your bf/gf. Not all are bachelor/ettes, and Gay Option is available.
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!I'm regretting picking the dog for my second run through the game. It barks incessantly and gets in the way far more often than the cat. I locked it up at the pet area with an iron fence.
I should have gone with the cat, like in my first playthrough (which had a whole bunch of different mistakes).

Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre Adventure
