So my idea just so happened to be dissected and split up among two other characters (happy-go-lucky/idealistic adventuring teen in Ray Gunn, and hints cowboy society and technology in Snakeye) and it doesn't seem right to just make a new character that's basically a mix-and-match of the two.
So, more questions: What time is the RP taking place? Considering the setting, I would guess about now, but the 2015 that everyone thought it would be back into the 1900's? Also, how much culture gets passed along through the galaxy? My new idea s a character inspired in-universe by the stories of King Arthur, but I'm not sure how plausible it'd be for them to have heard/read of it.
and yeah i get a lot of things aren't plausible here but i like keeping things at least semi-logical
As I've said before, this takes place in 1960 in an Alternate History where Earth's Technology has developed much faster than it has today. I'd say some culture definitely gets tossed around through the galaxy. Martians knowing who Superman is would be...actually, that would be incredibly rare, but not impossible. And Humans understanding Martian legends would be pretty possible. So your character, whoever he/she is, being inspired by King Arthur would be acceptable.
I don't mind him being like Ray. I was a little worried Ray would be too much like Amadeus, so I made him a competent gunslinger whose real strength lies in his weapon making and engineering.
Ooh, you should give your dude power armor and a forcefield gauntlet!
Also, what kind of ship will we have? Is one of our characters supposed to be the owner of a ship?

I can imagine Snakeye teaching Ray how to do a few gun tricks.
And about the only time he reaches Ocelot levels in gun twirling is where he gets all 4 of his revolvers, tells everyone he's loaded one bullet into at least one of them and begins juggling them all. Why? Just for fun!
I am kinda interested. Will need a bit to think about my characters role. I perhaps thought being a skilled pilot or psychic, but there are a lot of possibilities. All of this would depend on a lot of factors.
I assume we would be part of the same group of 'mercenaries'. Secondly someone did ask about the ship and whom owns it, what it would be like, ect.
"After time adrift among open stars, along tides of light and through shoals of dust, I will return to where I began."Would our group already be assembled in advance, knowing each other and part of the adventurer or 'mercenary' group or would we be all meeting up for the first time for the same job?
"After time adrift among open stars, along tides of light and through shoals of dust, I will return to where I began."- Name: Geoffery Vinokar
- Race: Avian (Secretary Bird
) Beastkin
- Age: 23
- Gender: Male
- Appearance: Covered with feathers, black on his legs, grey everywhere else but with the distinctive black quill-like feathers sticking out of his head that give secretary birds their name. Face is bare and bright red-orange. Flatter than a raptors but more angular than most humans with a hooked beak. 5'8", 135 lbs, 11'wingspan with clawed hands sticking out of the "elbows". Legs longer in proportion than a humans, ending in talons. Usually wears only a harness for tools and weapons and black leather shorts.
- Personality: Stoic, aggressive, curious. Would make a good Klingon, with a dash of cat. Does not like clothes. Tends to be touch around humans but has no problems with aliens
- Abilities:
- Cannot actually fly but wings allow him to leap great distances and to glide. Can however run pretty fast.
- Eyesight significantly sharper than average human
- Excellent at unarmed combat with a martial arts style adapted to his wings and natural weaponry.
- Good pistol shot, dual wields.
- Expert tracker.
- Equipment: Two Electroshock pistols that, basically, shoot miniature lightning bolts. Can be set from relatively mild taser-like shock to "blow up a small tree".
- Geoff hails from the Zanzibar Enclave (assuming you don't mind that that exists), a third generation Beastkin and from a family with a military tradition that does not approve of his having become a Merc. His problem was with the "traditional" part. The fast track, military academy career with every step laid out for him while he was still in the gestation chamber was not for him. But the idea of action, adventure and exploration did. So he ran away at 19 and became a Merc, usually as a scout since that fit his skill set and inclinations. Experience with prejudice has made him wary around humans.

Trump delenda estSorry that I've been slow to follow up on my WIP sheet thus far. It looks like things are beginning to pick up speed for some R Ps I'm involved with elsewhere, and I've been heavily indecisive on some key points of my character, so I'm beginning to wonder if I'll have the time for this one here. But until this RP is closed off from submissions, I'm still interested in it and I'll try to keep on working towards a complete character. For the record, I'm currently inclined to take my character in a very ninja-esque direction, using the aforementioned psychic powers partially to supplement their stealth but still taking a largely supportive role in combat.
...Okay, that's probably the most random question ever...and I'm just now realizing I didn't say what the Martian's antennae are used for, so thanks.
A Martian's antennae is used to sense where other Martians are in about a mile radius. It's not some kind of vital organ, so they can live without it.
So, would a Martian without antennae not be picked up by other Martians, or would they? And would they be able to detect who that Martian is, or is it only a vague 'yeah that's one of me'?
Trust me, these questions will make sense once I actually make the character.

Did your character lose his antennae somehow?
Anyway, the antennae is like a cellphone: if it has no signal, then it can't send or receive calls. So a Martian without an antennae can't be sensed or sense others. And it's a vague "yeah, that's one of my kind", they can't tell if it's another martian.
Okay, good. See, the idea I had was to have a character base himself almost religiously on the tales of King Arthur, and it just so happened that the knight I chose them to "be" is extremely perfect to use as a Martian. So I'm gonna roll with it as hard as I can.
I just hope that all this build-up i might be making isn't pointless.

You had me at the name. XD Ray Gunn is accepted.
His abilities look pretty okay. Kind of like a Bard in D&D. When he's finished, he'll be accepted-hopefully.
