Aliens are similar to humans formwise because the costume department did not have infinity dollars.

Obviously most humanoid aliens and humans have a common ancestor.

Who is also Star Lord's dad.

In the beginning, there was a being of ancient and terrible power

Who went around visiting every planet where life formed and leaving behind some genes

It gets boring and lonely being as old as everything.

Nah, it's the Force. The Force is responsible for almost everyone looking humanoid and also for the fact that they can interbreed.

Midi-cloooorians!

Face it, they're all secret Skywalkers even the audience, even us.

The Force is Anakin Skywalker's biological father.

The force is an energy field that is both generated by and is all living things.

Therefore all living things are Anakin Skywalker's father.

I would just like to point out that Colin Trevarrow is not a bad director. He might be a bad writer (although Safety Not Guaranteed was awesome)
I mean, he didn't write Safety based on the credits but also.

I mean.

What a boring fucking movie.

Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.

I think our earliest canonical opportunity to broaden the family tree and make the Rey Kenobi-Fans and the Rey Skywalker-Fans happy, is having Qui-Gon being Anakin's, as well as Obi-Wan's father. It would require a degree of indifference regarding his offspring though, because at least regarding Anakin he would have to have forgotten about the woman on Tatooine. Well, and Shmi didn't want to start about it, if he wants to pretend they don't know each other and gives saracastic answers when he inquires.

Qui-Gon: Who is his his father?

Shmi (short disbelieving look): I really don't know......

All I know is, my gut says maybe.

Luke tries to figure out who his own granfather was, so he travels back in time, meets Shmi, falls in love, has sex with her, and becomes his own grandfather.

I watched The Force Awakens today with friends. It was my first Star Wars movie! :D

(I'm also posting this in the other SW:TFA thread; I guess I'll reply to whichever I see an update first, trying to comment on the movie and characters)

I've been wondering what this movie would seem like to someone with no prior experience with the series.

I'd hate to imagine what Rey's training must be like.
