Legally, the rights of clones is a sticky issue, about on par with the rights of AI.

Naturally, the Clone Wars pit both of them against each other on behalf of their masters.

Wait wait.

I'm getting more deja vu from the ending.

Rey will stay with Luke to train for a while. But when she senses that her friends are in grave danger she halts her training and goes to try and rescue them.

She will barely survive her rescue mission.

And get her hand chopped off.

Alternatively, Ben Solo gets his hand chopped by Rey.

Also now that I watched the movie a second time, I realize that Ben's going to get a wicked cool burn scar across the face which will hopefully make him look more menacing.

[up]Or it'll make him keep the mask on 24/7.

About Luke's wife and Rey's mother: Leia. Because the audience's reaction would be priceless.

Hey, if you go by CinemaSins' interpretation, the hand-chopping-off thing is George Lucas' private fetish, so there's no need for the new films to go there. [lol]

I think Obi Wan can no longer contact Luke.
And yet he can speak to Rey.

[up]Rebels has Ezra get scarred on the face by a lightsaber at the end of the first season. That must be the new in thing.

I'm not sure where the interpretation in this thread came from that the New Republic was established by Imperials or w/e.

Because the New Republic was established by the former Rebel Alliance.

About Luke being famous and Vader's son: I mean.

In the Clone Wars cartoon, it seemed like Anakin was kinda famous?

Like. Popular, even. A war hero.

He was good looking and courageous and successful a fair amount so. Like. Common sense would be that any propaganda or publicity campaign for the war would use Anakin. A fair bit.

It's not like his surname was hidden either.

And Luke openly has the last name "Skywalker" and also sorta became a Jedi and was a pretty good pilot.

And he's from Tatooine, and I'm not sure Anakin being from Tatooine would be a "secret" per se.

I'm not sure Anakin being Vader would be public knowledge though.

Like. Ben seems to know. I dunno whether it's public knowledge though either.

Ben does know about Anakin Skywalker and his redemption. He just cares about Darth Vader more.

[up] First of all, you need to stop with that. Second of all, Disney won't ever do that.

I don't think Anakin being Vader is public knowledge. To be honest, if it were ever publicly revealed, most in the Galaxy would probably write it off as a conspiracy theory, seeing as Anakin and Vader's reputations are diametrically different.

Also, this is more my speculation than anything implied (since we don't know much if anything about the New Republic) but I think just because the First Order (well, really Ren/Ben) reveres Vader doesn't mean that the New Republic has a correspondingly intense loathing for him.

I mean the First Order are a bunch of crazy extremists.

I actually would think it was public knowledge that Anakin and Vader were the same. In particular, one part of the "Legend of Luke" would be redeeming his father from the Dark Side.

@airman I might be thinking of the Old EU.

Although I doubt force ghost Obi Wan will show up anymore. Force Ghost Anakin is on the table and I'd be interested in hearing his POV now and how Hayden plays him with a director that can actually help hi bring out some of his acting talent.

Eh, seeing as Vader was the public face of the Empire, I doubt anyone in the Republic has anything less than dislike for him.

I actually think that Ren now keeping his mask on would actually make him a better villain. Except for his tantrums he was a lot more intimidating with it on than with it off.

I think Ren's path is going to be to ditch the Darth Vader Clone thing, which means no mask.

Give the man platform boots, wider shoulder pads and a deeper vocoder setting for his helmet, and teach him to slowly murder subordinates instead of destroying valuable equipment. Then he will get plenty of respect from the fans.

All I know is, my gut says maybe.

Luke was able to avoid ever finding out about Vader until Vader himself told him, so I don't think it's public knowledge. If it were, I think somebody in the Rebel Alliance would have gone, "Hey, Darth Vader's name is Anakin Skywalker and your last name is Skywalker. Is there any relation there?" during their time on Hoth.

I mean, the possibility that Luke might be blood-related to Darth Vader carries very serious security risks for the Rebel Alliance employing him. It would have come up.

On the other hand, on a planet with trillions of inhabitants, there are probably thousands of Skywalkers. In a galaxy with millions of inhabited planets even more.

I think you mean billions. "Trillions" is a big number for any planet resembling Earth. Or is that the official pop of Coruscant or something? More Sci-Fi Writers Have No Sense of Scale...

On the other hand, multiple Skywalkers being great pilots and also Jedi strains credulity just a bit.

I mean.

Do we even know of any Skywalkers outside of Shmi's descendants?

Even Luke's direct relatives weren't Skywalkers. Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru's last name is Lars. Not only was Luke's surname left intact when he was put into hiding during infancy, they didn't even bother changing it to that of the family adopting him. He was the only Skywalker on the plantation.

Leia got to be Leia Organa. Luke should have been Luke Lars but I guess Owen and Obi-Wan decided it was really important that he be identifiable as a Skywalker.

Owen and Obi-Wan decided it was really important that he be identifiable as a Skywalker.
For some idiotic reason, given that they were supposed to be hiding him from the Empire.

Anyway, I think it's already been shown how Coruscant is a thermodynamic impossibility.
