Because I occasionally see the abbreviation as some sort of insult in a politically/socially charged debate (which was started over something insignificant in my case). I've checked out Urban Dictionary, but I'm looking for an less...biased definition.

This is a topic that is unlikely to turn to good things. SJW is a pejorative term generally directed at anyone the speaker feels is "too radical" for their particular point of view. It was adopted unironically by certain groups of these individuals, mainly (as I understand) on Reddit.

Whenever someone wanders onto the wiki who decides to tell everybody off for their evil patriarchal ways or their support of sexism in media, or whatever, we don't throw around buzz words; we ban them and move on.

That's really all there is to know, and so I'm locking the thread.
