No, but they don't need to have a sexy lamp either. It is certainly possible to turn Daphne into something interesting, after all Jessica Rabbit is a great character, but fact is that in the game, there wasn't much to her, and decades of immature gamers openly salivating over her certainly doesn't help the notion that she isn't more than a sex object.
I still say the biggest reasons the KS failed to get all the funds in the first week were:
- Amateur management. Minimal pledge being 15$, rewards being way to expensive.
- Lack of promotion.
Now the minimum is 10$, which I will pay.
Don and Gary are dinosaurs when it comes to social media. They had no idea what they were doing, and that is why they only have 200,000 now.
Let's see what happens next. I predict 2Dee amination fans all over the Internets raise the [CENSORED] of the awareness.
I think Don Bluth should try to do an animated webseries. Each episode would be about 8-10 minutes long. If I was doing my own kickstarter, I wouldn't make a full blown movie, yet.
Edit: Also, I think the reason the Dragon's Lair kickstarter isn't going well, is because we haven't seen test footage. Hulabaloo has shown a few scenes, even if they aren't finished, but at least that's proof they are making it.

Something that should be mentioned(I dont know if I already mentioned this but if I did I will mention it again). Who will be on this ANIMATING it? Surely Don can imagine that some of the people that he worked with before are out of work and could use some employment. As well as getting some fresh talent on there(like that artist who draws Five Nights at Freddy's in the style of Don Bluth).
Don will be animating the pitch by himself.
Also, unless Don/2D animation/ fans aren't going to make this A THING, this Kickstarter will fail.
Then I'll see what backup plan they have.
P.S. Listen to the interview on the Bancroft Brothers podcast, where they explain a lot more.

Indiegogo lets you keep the money you raised (minus a 9% fee) even if the campaign is unsuccessful, while Kickstarter is all or nothing. So if they raise the same amount on Indiegogo, they're at least guaranteed 50% funding so far.

And does every single work of fiction now must have a strong female character? Are females kidnap-proof now somehow? I wonder if you dislike A New Hope because Leia gets captured in it.
To reiterate my point, if something can be perceived as something else, it's all on the "perceiver". If you think something is sexist, it's on you. You can hold that position, but do not blame the creator.
