"Sorry, you're my hostage from here on. I can't exactly let you go, or Ted'll get on my case. And if you knew his last name, you'd know why a girl doesn't want him on her case."
Anne stated, extremely detached sounding. "So, I'll call the school using a voice changer, make some scary demands, and then things'll happen."
Despite her words, she didn't sound all that malicious toward Clay.

After the burst of red light stopped the large amount of black rose petals from destroying the field, the two Cultists seemed to look at one another as if relieved.
The Lieutenant Cultist took his turn and stated, "I equip Gaap with Raregold Armor."
With that, Gaap was covered by a sheen of gold, the fiend glinting somewhat.
"Now, my monster, unable to be destroyed by battle once per turn and taking no damage, is the only monster you can attack."

"I-I have a document that shows I was told to come here and pick him up, but I doubt that'd be good enough for a guy like you."
The weirdo looked around and seemed to calm down a little.

Unable to be destroyed by battle, Amy thought. That meant spells and traps could still work.
If ever there was a time to invoke the Heart of the Cards, this situation was it.
The Protomen enhanced my life."What is more, I activate Fiend's Regeneration Ring, targeting my Archfiend Interceptor."
- Fiend's Regeneration Ring
- Continuous Trap
- Activate only when you control exactly 2 Fiend type monsters. Target 1 of them. While that monster remains on the field, all other Fiend type monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle or by card effects. While this card is face up, the targeted monster cannot be targeted by other card effects. While you control this card, you cannot set monsters, or summon monsters except Fiend type monsters. If either monster you control leaves the field, destroy this card.
The glow indicated this was that cultist's "gift".
The card depicted two fiend type monsters preparing for battle with a number of lizard warriors, one at the back glowing bright green and the one at the front glowing red.
The Lieutenant Cultist then looked at Black Rose Dragon a moment, knowing given the format if he attacked Amy, that would defend her. But he only needed to draw a Fiend to destroy it.
"I end my turn with that."

One card. That was all she could offer right now.
Slowly, Amy drew... and her eyes widened.
"I set a card facedown and end my turn," she announced.

The Protomen enhanced my life.The Paramilitary Cultist shook his head. "That is all you can offer? Very well."
He drew his card and activated it, "I play Allure of Darkness. Now I draw 2 cards and banish Tardy Orc from my hand."
He drew his cards and said, "Now I activate Tribute Doll, sacrificing my Giant Orc to summon Belial - Marquis of Darkness."
Giant Orc vanished into the Tribute Doll spell's "doll", which shortly there after produced 2 copies of Giant Orc, both of which vanished, and the intimidating, black winged and masked demon appeared on the field bequeathed with a black aura.
This resulted in Solidarity activating again, increasing the attack of the Paramilitary Cultist's monsters;
(2200 -> 3000)
(2700 -> 3500)
"Now, Archfiend of Gilfer, attack Black Rose Dragon!" The Archfiend rushed forward to attack the Black Rose Dragon.
Just before the attack hit, Amy cried "I activate my trap—Gravity Bind! This prevents all Level 4 or above monsters from attacking."
Amy flashed Marcus an apologetic grin, knowing his dragon would also be paralyzed. Since he'd have been forced to attack, it would probably be better to stall until they could deal with the cultists' traps effectively.

The Protomen enhanced my life.Anne seemed to ignore his question and stated, "Maybe I didn't make it clear enough. You are a hostage. I am going to take you off and bargain at your old place of employment. In exchange for you and some of those disappeared students, they give us the Holder of Lindsei."
She looked outside, where she could see the faintest hint of the Swords of Burning Light in the distance.
Come on. What's taking them so long dealing with the Mayor's goon-brigade?
Killian was getting increasingly annoyed with this man. He stopped in his tracks, then turned his head to look at the other one who was a little behind. "If all you're going to do is insult me, I'm not sure I even want to help you in the first place. I've got a tough enough job without people like you showing up, claiming to know one of my students yet hardly being able to mutter out their name and having to glance at a paper to remember it. I think I'll take my chances. Now please leave, sir, as I have other duties to attend to." There. That should do the trick. The blonde continued down into the hallway, aiming for the cafeteria to see if nobody's causing trouble over there.
"N-Now see, see here, th-that's..." He tried to take out his wallet and stumbled around for his ID, trying to get to it, but his natural clumsiness resulted in a number of cards falling out, along with a very telling ID.
Something revealed on that ID that fell out at Killian's feet. Something that should very well have been impossible. Dahmer, Jeffrey Followed by a picture of said weirdo.
There was utterly no denying it - this annoying weirdo was a serial killer who died years ago and yet now stood right there.
The second Cultist drew for his turn and then slid a monster into his field, "I summon the Fiendish Rhino Warrior in attack mode."
A dark, humanoid rhino monster wielding a dark red sword appeared on his field.
[1400/900]
"Now attack the facedown monster." The rhino warrior rushed forward and slashed at it.
Another, smaller skeleton in ornate golden armor appeared briefly before being shattered by the rhino's attack, its helmet spinning on the ground and making that oioioioioiiiiiing sound you get when a metal bowl falls on the ground at the right angle and spins for a while.
"That was Wightprince, and due to his effect, I can send 1 Skull Servant and 1 Lady in Wight to my graveyard", Marcus said matter-of-factly.
Two skeletons, one dressed in rags and the other clad in a fancy, Victorian-era dress, appeared briefly before dissipating.
“Not a promise, not an oath, or a malediction or a curse. Inevitable." - Taylor HebertAmy watched as the skeletons disappeared. She'd seen a King of the Skull Servants deck in one of the games, but wad spotty on how such a deck actually worked.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Amy drew and grinned.
"I play Injection Fairy Lily in attack mode..."
She paused. She had 4900 LP remaining, which meant Lily could attack for 3400 damage twice before the effect would be rendered unusable. Plus there was the matter of the Intrigue Shield and Belial, Marquis of Darkness, which would force her to attack certain monsters.
Given those factors, it would probably be safer to defend for now—they couldn't get past Gravity Bind yet.
"...And end my turn," she announced.

The Protomen enhanced my life.

"Oh." Marcus shrugged. "In that case, I'll end my turn. Go."
