Makoto's response was a little surprising. She didn't seem annoyed with the idea of helping the militia and even kind of admired Rex's heroism. And that just made it more difficult to process. She wasn't guilt-tripping him, at least not on purpose, but it still felt like not agreeing would disappoint her. Hell, she was even willing to go with him to the prison and check out he militia's info on the missing prisoners. They could eat later, after dealing with this, which did sound a lot better. Rex expressed his conflicting train of thought the only way he knew how.
"Go team." added Rick before returning to his scroll.
Morty took in Lewis's decidedly un-Grecian attire, looking it up and down. "So you're a... Jaguar warrior or something?"
"Just because you played Civilization that one time Morty, doesn't make *urp* doesn't make you some kind of archeological expert."
Outside Library- Playing Hangman With Your Bike
Garrett walked by Makoto on his way out the library, but she didn't stop him for anything. If he knew about the prison break and still wanted to go out, then he could probably take care of himself. Or at least he could run fast enough, based on how he reacted to being chased by her.
Rex's next message was kind of weird compared to his last ones. Just a “K”. Not even an “O.K.”. What did that mean? Was it an error? Maybe she should text him back to clarify what happened…
”I believe that it might be an abbreviation,” Anat said. ”Like the ones Eiko sends in her texts.”
“Huh? But for what?” Makoto asked, looking down at the bike. She usually kept these conversations inside her head, but there wasn't anyone around anyway. “How am I supposed to know what it means?”
“...I admit that I am also clueless. Try thinking of words that start with K that would make a full message.”
“Uh… That's quite a few words…” She wished she had downloaded that dictionary app now. Kidnapped? Kind? Cool, but spelt wrong? Killed? No, that last one couldn't happen in the library…
“Kiss?”
“I-I really doubt that!”
Detective Two Tries Her Best
Yuna summed it up far better than I could hope to. There were no more words needed, unless Eve wanted to chime in. Mine would certainly carry far less meaning than theirs, so I simply elected to remain there. Here was hoping that the embrace was helping him.
I vaguely caught Caboose referring to Cent and some bird for some reason. I would have to ask him about this later; it seemed like a strange topic to touch upon, but then again, it was Caboose we were talking about.
Eve | Library | Pep-Talks And Hugs
Eve hugged Ben again, and looked at Yuna as the pinkette talked, a faint smile on her face. "She's right, Ben," Eve said quietly. "You can't do everything, but there are some things that you can do. You can save people from the danger of the day challenges, or people like the Hunters. Be the hero that they need."
[TOP SECRET]Anders stood in silence, a hand on his chin at the discussion, before shrugging vaguely at the conclusion of what the others had to say to Ben. "Also, it wouldn't hurt to work on the consideration that not everyone feels exactly the same way about this situation you do," he said mildly. "No one is saying you can't be angry and hurt and in pain...Maker forbid I would be the last person to ever tell anyone their anger at something so unfair is wrong. But you should also consider that what has hurt you, and hurt others, has helped some others as well."
He shrugged again. "It's entirely possible for someone to recognize a great evil has been done, while still being grateful for whatever goodness came to them because of it. ...and I will grant you, at the same time, people shouldn't give you fits over it because you are in pain and struggling with dealing with this situation."
Anders glanced back at Arcade for a moment, raising an eyebrow, before looking back to Ben. "Uh, yes, anyway...'live and let live' I guess is the thing to take from what I'm saying. ...or don't, I'm a perfect stranger, you don't have to listen to me. But uh. Yes. There you go."
With a rather awkward reaching out to pat Ben on the head, Anders then backed away to Arcade's side, almost visibly cringing. "Have I mentioned I am awful at dealing with children."
As someone who had never really been given an inspiring speech, Arcade felt completely out of his depth even thinking of ways to help Ben. He was more used to the cutting and insulting variety of speeches, and those wouldn't be useful.
So, he waited on the sidelines, sympathetic but unable to help. His conflicted expression cleared slightly when Anders returned to his side, awkwardly. "It was a good try," he said, chuckling, "better than my attempts at psychically sending good vibes."
I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life."Ben nodded gently, weakly smiling at Yuna as she gave her speech. He glanced over at the others trying to give him some advice, nodding to them as well.
"Thanks, guys. I'll... I'll try. If nothing else..." said Ben, thinking a bit. "If nothing else, I would've have met you guys if this didn't happen. I wouldn't have met Eve if this all didn't happen." He pulled away from the group hug a little more, glancing around again. "So, weren't we going to get something to eat?"

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither. So Hercules was adopted, just like Rean. But unlike Rean, Herc’s inability to keep his strength under control caused a lot of trouble for the people he grew up with. That said, Rean wondered what it would be like if more people knew about his own issue with control. Would the people of Ymir treat him as badly as the townsfolk treated Hercules? Then again, his classmates took it pretty well when they found out, so maybe it wouldn’t be as bad.
The movie continued on from Herc’s youth to his training under the satyr whose appearance he had today, and his encounters with Meg, the woman he called on Day 20. Rean looked over at Herc partway through the movie and smiled. Herc looked so happy watching the story of his life on the big screen.
Getting to learn about both Caboose and Herc’s lives was fun in its own right, and Rean wondered if there was anything like that about him. There was that book he got from Tairee, but it was supposed to be about his world in general, right? His personal story couldn’t be that important in the grand scheme of things. Still, maybe he’d take a look at it when it wasn’t so late.
Mesoamerica? Nope, didn't ring a bell at all. "It's not, but I'm curious anyway."
Then Herc noted that Ben was all alone in the city without his family. Rean nodded. "He could probably use a mentor. Someone to fit the role his family did. Speaking of Ben, it looked like he’d cooled down.
"...Right, Caboose. " Rean said. Caboose was just babbling on again, it looked like.

"Who's Cent?"
Given the soldier didn't tend to make sense when you did have context for what he was talking about, I, having no such context, resigned myself to the idea that I wouldn't understand a lick of what he was getting at. "Morty, I'm not super versed in history either but I don't think that was an actual class of soldiers."
...
"Not on most versions of Earth, anyway."
I stared at Herc for about two seconds. "...Yes. I said that. I always liked it, though I remember thinking the writing could've been a little tighter last time I picked it up."
As I suspected, Rean did not have a Mesoamerica on his Earth. "Well, it's this general area around the middle of the western hemisphere, and the short version is that over its history a lot of civilizations sprung up in the area, and one of them was the Maya, which is where this style comes from...well, more or less. To be honest, there was a lot of overlap with the other cultures that sprung up around them, they were just the biggest at the time the day is built around. Well, in dimensions that are on the same page historically as everyone else, at least. I guess the day figures lol, why not pass the ancient latino cultures on the may or may not be ethnically latino residents...aaaaaaaaaaaaand you've never heard the word latino in your life, fuck. Well, basically..."

For someone supposedly bad with children, Arcade's friend did a pretty good job. Seeing that Ben has calmed down, I let go of him and Yuna, smiling encouragingly. Already he found a good side to all this; namely, meeting Eve and the others.
But then Ben said something that got my attention in full. "...oh... Oh! Oh, please, let me prepare something." I offered with a grin. I've been itching to make a full-course meal and while foodstuffs back at the campfire were a good warmup, it wasn't a proper dinner for a big group. "I would just need to get the ingredients and I could prepare something for everybody." Here I raised my voice slightly, looking at everyone present. "Everyone's welcome to join, too!"
Then my eyes were set on a fellow cook in a ceremonial robe. "And I would be honored to have Sir Lewis work alongside me in this endeavor."
Library
They were... ignoring him? But Caboose was saying something important! Didn't they care about Two? She would die! How were they just looking at him like he was talking gibberish? The soldier wasn't self aware enough to understand how poorly he was explaining himself, so it looked like everyone was either callous or dumb.
"Do you not understand?" he said urgently. "This is not a good thing. Two has a lot of problems, like her singing is a really bad thing and other things. And..." He trailed off at this point, like he had given up. He thought people were different here, that they listened to him when he had something to say. But they just were all not following him.
And so the soldier gave up. "Sure... you can make something for us..." he said in an uncharacteristically disappointed tone. His eyes focused on the suggestion box for a second.
Why is a yam attacking me?Hercules then nodded at Rean’s suggestion that Ben needed a mentor figure: “Oh yes definitely. We can’t afford to have him go mental every time someone mentions the writer. We’ll need someone to stir him on the right path.” Herc then said again in a quiet tone and just as he said this Ben started to calm down as he saw Two, as well as Eve and another girl hugging him.
Herc was at the very least relieved to see Ben was okay again though Lewis did respond to his question but however Lewis had managed to throw Herc off with the “writing” bit and it completely sailed over his head. And then Lewis started talking to Rean about something else mainly the clothes that the latter was wearing. Well at the very least Herc had learnt that Lewis knew about his life…somehow. He then turned his attentions on Two who had now announced that she was going to prepare some food for the assembled group.
“Yeah food would be nice right about now. Thank you, Two.” Hercules called to Two from where he was. Suddenly in amongst the ranting that Ben had done just now Herc was feeling quite peckish.
It didn't take too long for Garrett to spot the Universe Buffet; there may not have been any glass for the dome today, but the shape was still the same, now accomplished by way of a wooden framework with thin cloth stretched over it, with the bottom open to get an effect much like the library.
Inside, the furniture had all been changed to fit with the theme, along with the various silverware, but the food seemed much like it was before, and the place was already a bit crowded with random people coming to get breakfast. There didn't appear to be any militia members around, however... Maybe it was a fluke, maybe it was thief's intuition, but there was the distinct feeling that someone was watching Garrett, unseen.
Miss Tairee waited, once again resting her chin in her palm and watching what was going on with Ben and the others. Her expression almost started to seem a tad somber or longing, but she went back to neutral and raised her eyebrows as she heard Two speak. "If you want ingredients or anything else to cook with, you will have to be more specific" Miss Tairee mentioned idly, turning her eyes off to the side.
You are reading this. And then Lewis went straight into a long winded explanation about his outfit and its geographical and historical basis. Emphasis on long. Well, I did ask for him to explain... Rean thought, slightly stunned at how much rambling Lewis was doing.
"Um...Wow." Rean said once Lewis was done. While he got the gist of it, it was still a lot of info. "That’s pretty interesting."
Then Two offered to make food for everyone. "Sounds good! " Rean said. "The pancakes you made the other day were great." He looked forward to seeing what she could do with an actual kitchen. Though, now Caboose seemed a bit sad again. "You alright, Caboose?"
I got the sense Rean lost track of what the hell I was talking about sometime around the middle of the history ramble. To be fair, even people who already knew what these things were barely understood them, so it wasn't like I could expect much better from a guy who'd never heard of any of them, but man did it go over his head. It was kinda funny, if probably evidence that I shouldn't try squeezing the entire history of an area into a couple minutes of talk.
Well, even if he didn't really get it, at least in the time we went over this things had quieted down. Apparently now we were having breakfast with like 10 people. Or making, I suppose; apparently Two wanted me to cook with her. "Huh? U-um, yeah, of course," I answered, not expecting the request to happen when it did. "Just, uh, gimme a bit. Let me ask for some things." Had it stopped being a bad time yet? "I'd tell you to give me a place name and I'd meet you there but uh, I think we all already know directions mean nothing around here."
I went up to the desk, just as I'd been intending when I first got here, took a pen and paper, and glanced around, aware of the precarious time I'd picked to try this. "If you'll excuse me..."
I tried to think of how to word everything I wanted out of this, and indeed pick out everything I wanted to ask for, having trouble tuning out the general atmosphere of the room.
i guess you can watch me shitpost i guessBen glanced up at Two, who seemed pretty eager to try and cook something. On the one hand, he was pretty hungry and would've liked the food sooner rather than later. On the other, he didn't really have the energy to argue with her, and plus she seemed like she really wanted to do this.
"You can cook? Sure, that sounds fine," Ben told her. He looked around at the other girls. "What do you guys think? Should we have Two cook us something?"
I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.Outside Library- A Mildly Interesting Sight
Makoto was sitting against the library's outside wall now, close to the door she'd left from. After moving the "books" into her old bag, she'd dug out some of the other things she'd stored in there. The coffee thermos was still sealed when she pulled it out, and it still tasted alright after she sipped it. Did food go bad when stored in there, or was it put into a sort of stasis?
Anat had effectively taken over the process of deciphering the text message, now in her alternate "humanoid" form. Like with the motorcycle, she no longer looked mechanical. Instead of a robotic aesthetic, Anat was now more like a carefully designed sculpture that wouldn't look out of place in the Roman section of a museum. Her "skin" was a bronze metal that somehow folded at the joints without obvious seams, and her face and hair were more natural looking, though her eyes glowed the same yellow as usual. The rest of her was made of iron, and she wore a helmet with built in set of sharp horns, a basic chest plate and spiked shoulder guards with a decorative skull near the collar, a shield on the left arm and a slightly curved sword on her hip. A cross between a toga and a dress was underneath the armor, going down to her knees, and her heels were switched out for flat sandals. and shin guards.
This ten foot tall animated statue was knelt down across from Makoto, the relatively small smartphone cradled in one hand as Anat studied it.
"We are going to figure this out..." Though it wasn't speaking out loud, Anat did frown and squint at the phone.
"I really think we're overthinking this," Makoto said. "It can't possibly be this hard to understand." Her Persona audibly grumbled, which still somehow sounded like an engine.
"Is fully understanding one another not an important part of a relationship? Do not give up so easily!" Makoto sighed.
"Isn't that a bit over-dramatic?"
Anders just watched the others conversing for a bit, apparently deciding on getting something to eat, and after a moment he glanced towards Arcade. "I suppose food isn't a bad idea, all things considered. ...never been one for other people's 'home cooking' myself though. Not after seeing how Oghren cooks. I think I might go wandering off to that 'grocery store' again."
He waved a bit, seemingly dismissingly, and turned to wander off again, Pounce still on his shoulder and meowing a bit in some sort of disapproval of his own.
As usual, the mention of food got Arcade's attention very quickly. He vaguely remembered the discussion on cheeseburgers before he had been sent back, but not enough that he remembered being reassured that the cheese wasn't the powder left behind on old mac and cheese.
He managed, however, to push aside his desire to eat everything that was actually tasty when Anders started to leave. It took him a second to remember the scroll in his hand and the reason he'd gotten it.
"Wait, I still have something important to tell you," he called as he ran after Anders, "you might end up killing hundreds of innocent people if you make a mistake soon."
I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life."Anders barely slowed in his pace, just waving a hand somewhat when Arcade said there was something important to tell him. "Whatever it is, it-" and at that, he comprehended the second half of the statement, and that brought him to a stop, turning to stare at the other man.
"I'm sorry...what now? I'm...going to do what and why and how and what??"
Detective Two Is Happy To Be Chef Two
"Oh yes, certainly!" Miss Tairee was willing to help, too! That was great news; we didn't have to go to the grocery store for the ingredients. "I'll just make a list if that's fine." Luckily there was some paper available at the desk, together with something that looked a bit like a quill without a feather, so to say. It probably worked just the same way.
Arcade and his friend were turning to leave, it seemed. "Feel free to come back later. I'll have something prepared by then." Ah, yes, that was an exciting notion. It's been postponed for too long, and now it was finally time to actually cook something delicious for everybody. Looking at Lewis' paper and his writing appliance, I then moved my attention towards Caboose. Rean was there, asking him about it. Hopefully he was okay, he did seem strangely out of it just now.
"...actually, Miss Tairee, is it fine if I, um, ask for a place to cook here as well? I figured this would be more comfortable for everybody involved." I added one more request with a sheepish smile before starting to write, already planning out what could be most palatable for everyone.

Arcade nearly groaned in annoyance when Anders made it clear that he was about to dismiss what he was saying, but fortunately, he managed to make it clear just how important his information was.
"It's a long story," he said once he caught up, and held the scroll up for Anders to take, "and this will explain it better than I can, since I still don't understand magic and all that stuff, but basically you're going to... fuse? I guess is the term? With a spirit and then everything will go downhill from there."
I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life."It seemed the library was on its way to turning into a restaurant, or well, more of a supermarket given Two's requests. Either way she was going to cook something for everyone. And as much as Rex wanted to join in, there were more important things waiting for him.
"You guys have fun, I've gotta take care of something"
He wasn't done however, and turned to face the librarian. She pretrended she hadn't lift a finger to help the city during the alien invasion and while Makoto's theory of her not wanting to be punished by the Writer if eord got out of her deeds was most likely true, it still required some explanations.
"By the way Tairee, don't think you are off the hook just yet" he didn't sound entirely serious but he wasn't joking either. "There's something we still need to finish later"

Library
Caboose expected more of a reaction at the whole evil flower thing. Or at least he expected to be taken seriously. After all, he spoke exactly what was going on and an evil flower didn't sound nice. So... why weren't they taking him seriously? It should be obvious now that he spelled it out for them!
Seemed like he needed to answer it a bit more for these people who somehow didn't know what he knew. "Well, maybe it isn't the evil flower, but it is a flower and it is on Two," the soldier said to Rean, as if it explained everything. "I don't see any other flowers around her... so if it isn't that then maybe the flower is her? It makes sense I think, if Cent is a bird she can be a flower."
Why is a yam attacking me?
