Random House
"Radios are nice when they aren't taking over your brain," Caboose said cheerfully, not really comprehending how odd the statement was. It was definitely true, but wouldn't really make sense to anyone. "And now that I remember I have one maybe I will listen!" One thing was for certain, if Caboose listened he'd also accidentally talk into the radio channel.
To Rean, Caboose said "Yeah, we could walk around. Try to find something fun to do... or we could have something fun find us maybe. It will be nice." Or something deadly could find them, who knows? He wouldn't know the difference anyways.
The radio people made a good point about how they were not in fact in the same place that they were before! Caboose hadn't realized that! "OK!" he said, before turning on his radio again. Mercifully the channel was already correct so there was no shenanigans with setting it. "Hello again! The radio people are now in a house that is... um... it's a house and has a door and some windows... one second!"
The soldier walked outside the building so he could actually get the details of the house's appearance in words because he had no recollection of what it looked like. After giving some more details that could actually be used by anyone who wanted to come looking, Caboose concluded in the radio "So just come there!" He stumbled and tripped into a window, breaking it with a sound that would be audible on the radio. "Also there is a window broken, and it was not my fault at all!" And with that he switched off the radio.
When he came back into the room a minute or two later, the soldier said "OK I did it! And also a window broke all on its own!"

Why is a yam attacking me?The Arcade Entrance- This Is Like Being Forced To Play Chess
Makoto could get where Silanea was coming from (though she didn't seem to recognize that they'd met before), but it still sounded strange for her to be Rex's "assistant". You didn't have to dedicate yourself to someone to help them out, or maybe this was just the way things were done in Silanea's culture. Makoto wasn't going to try and stop her though, since it was her choice in the end, but she really doubted Rex was going to accept it.
Arcade passed her by at the exit, carrying Cole and Eve with him, and she didn't make eye contact with them, instead choosing to sit down with her back against the wall as she held the panda toy. It wasn't helping much. Shenhua was close by, but she didn't feel like speaking much if she didn't have to. No, she still needed to find out the right way to word things so Rex didn't immediately walk off and try and pick a fight with Cole. And to think it was already evening time...
Eve | Arcade To Streets | FEAR ME, FOR I AM QUEEN
Eve laughed a little more at Cole's squeak of surprise. It was nice to be here, and the carrying was fun too. It was safe in a way that she had rarely felt in the City. She waved regally to the others as she left, with a facade of dignity that she completely dropped after they left the Arcade for favor of cackling. She calmed down a little, and smiled somewhat sadly at Cole. "I'll remember that," she said. "It's just too easy to feel like I'll never escape my past."
[TOP SECRET]"Rex, how could I consciously leave you alone while so many people seem eager to attack you physically or emotionally? Of course you don't need my help since you couldn't die permanently in this place, but in the same sense I didn't need help when I was outside in that blizzard" Silanea calmly argued back at Rex, then returned her attention towards Lewis. "I'm still not sure I get it. If they were doppelgangers, how would they have known to pretend to be me and Valentina? If one of them really was Valentina, then who was the other one?" the lamia turned human wondered, very confused.
Connor stared at Hercules with an unchanging expression for a few moments, just blinking a couple of times. "... Why are you worried about having too much food in your basket? If that was a problem then you could just leave it behind" Connor pointed out simply.
The orc woman stared at Yuna with a blank, unimpressed expression. "So you have become your own friend. That's all I needed to know" the orc woman said a bit flatly, before looking at Ben. "So you don't... Wait, people escaped from the prison? There are criminals loose in the city?" she asked for clarification, though she sounded less worried and more... Exasperated.
"Just wonderful" the orc woman muttered in a sarcastic tone, turning away from the two Knights. "That certainly complicates matters" she thought out loud as she started walking away.
Jeff stared blankly at Caboose after his return, then leaned over towards Rean slightly. "Was this guy like, a toddler before today?" Jeff asked quietly.
You are reading this.Cole nodded a little. "You shouldn't forget your past, but you don't have to live in it, either."
That said, he glanced around a bit. "Arcade, you remember what the house we picked was like, right? ...we can go back there and stay. We can be comfortable there and tomorrow when we're us again, we can go back and get more clothes, and dress up however we want!"
Of course, Arcade could understand the whole being haunted by one's past thing, so he was a bit afraid to even comment, worried that he'd end up making things awkward.
Fortunately, the discussion of their new house was much easier to deal with. "Yeah, yeah, I remember," he said, "I'm curious to see what outfits fit our regular bodies better."
I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life.""I dunno, maybe they passed you two while posing as other people? Though, wait, they wouldn't know what you normally look like, or the guy. And I'd basically just gotten up, so that's not a lot of time for something like that..." I waved in the happy family's general direction as they apparently decided to head out again.
Makoto had walked to the door and was now staring at the wall. Reluctant to walk off in the middle of a conversation, I just stared from where I was. "Honestly, a handler wouldn't be the worst thing for you, but I don't know about someone having to spend that kind of time and energy."

i guess you can watch me shitpost i guessRean sighed. "Sure it did, Caboose." He said, totally not accepting that the window broke itself. Jeff asked if Caboose was a toddler or something normally outside of today's day theme. Rean shook his head. "He's an adult...I think?" Rean whispered back. He actually didn't know how old Caboose was, now that he thought about it. For all he knew, Caboose was a toddler. But that was too weird to ever happen, right? That said...
"...Hey, Caboose? How old are you?" Rean asked.
Random House
"Yes, that is good that you believe me," Caboose said sincerely. "Because it is true! And things and people definitely do not break around me and that definitely is not the reason people do not let me do anything at all. Which is not me saying people do not let me do things and ignore me, because that is definitely not what normally happens." It was blatant lies at this point, but he didn't sound like he thought it was blatant.
And then Rean asked him how old he was, a question the soldier was not ready for. Well, he didn't skip a beat in answering it, just that he didn't actually know the answer. "I am like at least six!" he proclaimed. "Well... that is when I lost count! What age do you need to be to join the army again? I am probably older than that!"
Why is a yam attacking me?"Look who's talking" Rex told Lewis, not even bothering to come up with a witty retort to his comment.
Meanwhile, Silanea made a good point about Rex not really needing her help but still being better off if he accepted it. He was already dealing with feeling weak and helpless on top of his usual ego so it was hard to say yes, but Silanea had made it clear she wanted to do something to make it up to him and that she wasn't going to stop until she managed to repay her debt.
"...fine. But this is only so you feel better about owing me one. I can deal with people trying to kill me just fine. Try and keep up" he said before walking after Makoto, in favor of ignoring the conversation about doppelgangers—someone with powers and more time could deal with that. Rex just wanted to relax.
And apparently so did Makoto but she was clearly having a hard time dealing with... whatever was on her mind.
"We are ready to leave" Rex said, pointing at the dolphin he was holding to show the 'we' didn't just include Makoto. But her staring into space was a bit worrying which made the joke fall flat on its face. "Uh, are you sure you don't want to talk about it?"
Entrance To Arcade- Making a Hypothesis
If Makoto noticed Lewis staring at her from across the room, she didn't react to it. She had mostly tuned the noise out in favor of picking apart what Cole had told her, studying the pieces of the story individually and comparing it to what happened after that incident. Maybe if she asked Rex about why he'd thought Cole was no longer an equal fighter to him, she'd get an answer that explained his behavior towards the now four year old boy. She knew Rex didn't hate him, at least, but then his insult to Cole didn't make any sense.
Was it a spur of the moment decision? Something that he'd said out of stress and not actual logic, but didn't take back out of pride? Or maybe it was a warped attempt to "protect" Cole from being used by Ghostfreak, but he'd gone too far in the other direction. Had that moment at the grocery store just been the straw that broke the camel's back after a series of previous unknown events? Maybe Rex didn't "suddenly" change at all, and there had been some kind of lead up to it. It was impossible to know everything that had gone on here.
"...Huh?" Makoto didn't even realize that Rex had caught up with her until he asked her a question, and she stood up and rubbed the back of her neck. "Oh, uh, sorry. I wasn't paying attention. It's just been a long day." Not a lie, but not the entire truth either. She didn't like hiding things like this, but it wouldn't be for much longer now. And to be honest, she wasn't sure if she was even ready to talk about her loss of control bad at the Radio Station. That could wait for tomorrow. "Let's just go, or is Silanea coming with us as well?"
Eve | Streets | And Save! (Don't Want To Waste This Progress)
Eve smiled down at Cole and nodded solemnly. "It can be hard, though," she said quietly. "Hard to escape, hard to accept." So they were going to wait to grab clothing, which Eve was okay with. "I'm going to guess that we'll all need some smaller sizes," she pointed out. "We're lucky that the day challenge isn't disruptive, otherwise a herd of elephants would go rampaging through the kitchen or something."
[TOP SECRET]Once Hercules saw that Connor was not bothered by the fact that he had too much in his basket he then shrugged his shoulders. “Well to be fair I have used it quite a bit today.” He explained to Connor calmly. “I did originally leave it behind at the Library but that was only because I was doing something else at the time and I did come back for it after the matter was dealt with.” He thought for a bit and then looked at his basket for a moment and then looked back towards Connor.
“I guess I should probably sort out what I’ve got in this basket anyway before I go in to see my movie.” He then said as he started looking through all the stuff he had at this present moment pretty trying to find things that he could keep and things he could get rid of.
Rean kinda just nodded at Caboose’s rambling, not bothering to really respond to it this time. Then Caboose replied that he lost count of how old he was at age six or something, and asked how old you had to be to join the army.
"It’s 18, at least where I’m from." Rean said. "So yeah, you’re probably older than that."
"Anyway, I think we should get going." Rean said, walking towards the door. "Have a good night, you two."
The orc lady seemed rather preoccupied about the escaped inmates... well, not actually that worried, but rather... annoyed. Like that bothered her rather personally or something. However, her questions did enlighten Yuna regarding something she had not quite considered. Something rather important for what they were trying to do.
"Hey Ben, now that I think about it... how are we going to find the people that escaped?" the girl asked. "I mean, what do they look like? Because... I have no idea who we're looking for, actually."

Ben nodded at the orc woman.
"Yeah, but don't worry! We're gonna catch 'em!" he exclaimed. Unfortunately, Yuna's question was a valid one, and it took the wind out of his sails. His smile faded and he glanced back at her.
"I... don't know," he admitted. "I just kind of... assumed they'd be causing trouble and we could stop them. But I do know what one looks like, at least right now. He looks like a big guy in a black jumpsuit with a long cape and a cowl with pointy ears. I don't know if he exists in your world but do you know about... Batman?" He sighed, looking around and still clutching his stomach again.
I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither."Yeah, that's the problem with the past," Arcade muttered, thoughtfully. It was something he had to deal with, the past not just leaving him alone.
"Uh, they're animals," he answered Cole, "biggest land animals, actually. The most I know about them is that Hannibal used them to fight off the Romans in the First Punic War."
I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life."Random House
"Oh yeah, that's the age!" Caboose said blithely. "I only joined by accident, though! It's been a few years since then so I must be... older than I was when I joined." Yes that was true. It just was also blindingly obvious. Still, he gave a somewhat coherent answer.
The hour was getting late, it was probably time to go. However, Caboose had no idea about that. He only wanted to leave because that was what his friend was doing and following friends was important. "Yeah, OK let's go!" he said happily. "I will see you again." He would follow Rean.
Why is a yam attacking me?"... It's probably not worth worrying about" Silanea said to Lewis, though (s)he sounded possibly in slight denial about it. The Lamia turned human then looked at Rex and smiled slightly when (s)he agreed to let Silanea help him (her) out, to which the former lamia just replied with a nod and a simple, "alright."
Following after Rex, Silanea looked at Makoto. "Yes, I am coming with" Silanea answered, straight forward. "I suppose I should explain this to Wells sometime..." the lamia turned human muttered to herself. (himself)
"... Okay then" Jeff said, a bit dumbfounded and otherwise at a loss for words. "Uh, bye, thanks again" (s)he added as Rean and Caboose left.
"... Do you always overly explain things that nobody asked about? The only time I remember you doing that in the movie was with Meg, because you had no idea how to interact with women" Connor commented, sounding somewhat confused, and almost suspicious now, like he doubted that Hercules really was who he said he was.
The orc woman apparently didn't have any comment on the matter, but did raise one hand to vaguely wave a goodbye, without turning to look back at Ben or Yuna.
Nothing else seemed to be going on nearby at the moment, until suddenly the Thunder Child passed overhead. Shortly after, at a nearby intersection, some human man, human woman, and a... Alien thing that like Ben happened to kinda resemble a humanoid crustacean
◊ ran into view. "Was that the ship? Where was it headed?" the man asked the others.
"I think it was, but I have no idea where it was going" the woman answered.
The alien thing made some noises in response, but unfortunately for them, the city evidently wasn't translating it.
"Well come on" the man added simply, and the three started to move again.
Because of buildings in the way, from the ground Ben and Yuna could not see that the Thunder Child happened to be going to...
Those close enough to one side of the library could see the Thunder Child come into view over the rooftops, and move to stop just beside the library, still up off the ground a couple stories at least. A simple rope ladder started to lower off the side, with Wells holding on as it descended, holding his phaser up and looking around the nearby area and rooftops. After the ladder got to the ground, Wells hopped off and made his way to the revolving doors there, pushing inside and then holstering his phaser.
"Well mister Nigma, I'm almost impressed. The obvious trap you were calling me to seems to not be a trap after all. Or you just didn't have enough time to get it ready before I got here" Wells said aloud, looking across the lobby towards Riddler with the expression of someone with absolutely zero respect and expectations.

You are reading this.Ben glanced up as the militia ship flew overhead. Ben rolled his eyes a bit, still clutching his stomach, and looked back towards the orc woman, who he saw was already starting to leave.
"Oh... fine then," Ben muttered, his legs starting to wobble a bit. "Whatever. We'll try and keep looking now. C'mon, Yuna." He started to walk weakly in no direction in particular, before he fell to one knee.
"Ow!" Ben yelled, one hand going to his stomach, before he curled up on the ground, wincing in pain.
I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.Makoto (perhaps on purpose) didn't pay attention to what Rex had told her and was now wondering if Silanea was coming with them. It's not like she would ruin the moment anymore than the day conditions already did.
"She thinks she has to protect me" Rex said, sounding tired.
The former lamia also seemed to have not considered her standing with Wells and that conversation was surely going to be awkward. Really, everyone had a weird relationship with the militia. Hell, Makoto herself had joined and left on the same day and no one really complained much.
"Please, the militia doesn't care as long as you save their butts every once in a while. Trust me"

Arcade was actually a little surprised himself how little the combined weight of Eve and Cole was to him. Lanius had obviously been strong before, but experiencing it for himself somehow managed to intimidate him after he had been killed. It was a strange almost deja-vu.
Only briefly stopping to glare at Shenhua for calling him that again, he calmly walked out of the arcade and onto the streets. He carefully nodded in agreement to Cole's statement.
"We won't just give up on you because of a fight, so you need to give yourself the same kindness," he said, "having trouble with someone else doesn't make you a weapon, it makes you a human with emotions."
I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life."
