Fighting Vendral

Ben's eyes widened in surprised when, instead of the cacophonous twang of concussive guitar usage, a loud riff erupted from the guitar and, instead of bludgeoning the beast, it cut into Vendral like an axe. As soon as Vendral began to climb, Ben ducked down and kept a hold of the vine that was keeping him attached to the dragon. He let out a yell as paper began to fly past him and give him nasty papercuts. As he sat there, hanging onto the dragon and wincing in pain, teary-eyed as the blood began to run from his cuts, the Omnitrix let out a pleasant chime.

"Finally!" Ben exclaimed, carefully reaching for the Omnitrix and turning the dial. He then slammed onto the display as hard and as quickly as he could. A bright green flash erupted from the Omnitrix as Ben grew angular and bulkier again, much like he had when he attempted to fight Peridot. When the green light was released, Ben was Diamondhead again, still bulky and troll-like as earlier. As he clung onto Vendral's back, he turned one of his hands into a crystal spike and stabbed it into the dragon's wing near where he had cut before, shooting little diamond crystal darts from his other hand towards the dragon's faces.

Free, free fallin'

Rick let out another stream of curses as the dragon clamped down on his spare arm, twisting the sword a little deeper as he tried to hang on.

"Y-you *urp* I'll- ooooh boy." It was about at that point that the dragon started breathing fire; even though Rick was strapped into a seat just behind a boiler, this heat was enough to make his hair start to smolder and the iron of his suit begin to liquify. Before he could bring up his free arm to stab the thing in the eye, there was a sudden sensation of movement as the dragon's back spun away from him,

At any rate, Rick was now falling extremely fast; as he fell, he couldn't help but wonder how he kept getting himself into these stupid predicaments. "I hope you're happy, *urp* Morty!" he shouted at nobody in particular. "Hope you really got what you wanted, huh? I-I-, oh, fuck me." There was a minor, fleetingly brief symphony of shrieks as every safety valve burst, bits of broken metal arcing up and away . Rick twisted whatever was left of his machine, doing his best to brace himself for impact. A loose sheet of leftover parachute cloth popped out of some compartment or other, not doing very much at all to stop his out of-control descent.

Rick grunted something and twisted both levers all the way forward, as far as they would go. There was a clank as whatever gears were left in the machine started twisting; the massive boiler at the back of the suit fell away from the rest of Rick's invention, before physics took over. Rivets started bursting all across the width of the boiler as it started shooting away from him, into a random area of sky- and then, with one final screech of tortured metal, exploded. The massive boom of pressurized water finally giving up would probably be audible all across the forest.

Somewhere else

The little girl stared at her grandmother, perched up in bed with a kind of predatory alertness one didn't usually find in octogenarians. There was something different about the kindly old matriarch of the family, something that she couldn't quite put her finger on...

"Grandma, what big eyes you've got."

"The better to see you with, my dear."

Well, that sounded reasonable at least.

"Yes, but Grandma, what big ears, you've got..."

"Oh," said Grandma, her admittedly yellow eyes narrowing suspiciously as she tapped her furry chin. "why of course, the better to hear you with."

The girl mulled this over too. There was a certain kind of elementary logic to this deduction, so why didn't it seem right?

"Well, yes, but... Grandma, what big teeth you've got..." she said, bravely forging forward along this line of philosophical inquiry. By this point, some primal part of her, the part that had seen thousands of her ancestors devoured by the shapeless horrors of the Pleistocene night, was screaming at her to climb up the nearest tree. The girl ignored this.

Grandma grinned an all-too-wide grin. "Well, of course, my dear..." she said, clambering out of the bed with surprising alacrity, "all the better to eat you with-"

"-holy craaaaaaaaaaaraaraagagggghhhhhhhhhhhhh-"

There was a cacophony of metallic noise as a gigantic thing fell right through the lovely little thatched cottage roof, smashed into the bed, and flattened not-Grandma beneath a metric ton of broken metal, cooking the smeared wolf beneath a few stray superheaters. A thousand gears went spinning off and embedded themselves into the walls, as the final, defiant skeleton of Rick's suit collapsed into a pile of smoldering scrap metal. In defiance of the laws of the universe, there was no distressed cat to be found.

The girl decided that maybe the path through the woods was safer than Grandma's after all, and decided to retrace her steps posthaste.

More resigned than anything, Rick dazedly massaged his many bruises, picked a chunk of broken glass out of his arm, fumbled for his flask note , and gratefully passed out, a trail of drool already starting to coagulate around his lower lip.

"Wubba-lubba... dub...dub..."

The Beanstalk

"Huh..." Morty looked down at the library. If nothing else, it was safe there... maybe. Then again, all that paper was flammable... but maybe the dragon wouldn't attack there? Because it was the center of the city?

"Huh... okay, uh, yeah, l-let's go, huh?" The teenager clambered onto the dragon's back. "I, uh, is there like a saddle or something I'm supposed to, you know, sit on? I-I-I, uh, I think I saw a movie once about this or something?" Somewhere off in the distance something exploded... but Morty payed it no heed.

Flying near the dragon

"Flying is not so bad once you get used to it"

Rex quickly took off in the dragon's trying to position himself above it. Easier said than done once it started gaining altitude.

On the plus side, the dragon seemed more concerned about defending itself than following Tairee now. It was a good time to deploy the Cole.

"Hey girls, distract the lizard for a bit. I'm droping Cole"

Rex started to fly vertically to reach the dragon. He could only guess how much Cole hated him for that. To make matters worse, the clouds made of paper were giving him papercuts.

"I swear when this is all over, I'm going to take a vacation. A really long one"

He finally got a few feet over the dragon. Rex also recognized someone else there, a green golem made of crystal. It was definitely Ben but he looked a bit different, like everything on that day.

"Hey, Ben. I thought you wouldn't mind a little bit of help"

"I do not want to get used to it!"

Cole clung for dear life, keeping his eyes squeezed shut, as Rex flew. The wind whistling by at such an unbelievably high speed past him made his face sting where his hair whipped against it. It was like falling, but in entirely the wrong direction, a curious state of affairs that he sincerely hoped wouldn't come again.

The paper clouds just made it even worse. "Ouch! Those hurt!" He was too afraid to loosen his grip on Rex at all, but tried to duck his head to get the hood of his cloak to cover his face, without much success, and yelping when Rex was suddenly shooting straight up into the air. "I still do not like this!"

Within what felt like seconds, they were over the dragon, and Cole grimaced, finally releasing one hand's grip to grab at one of his daggers, turning enough to be ready to drop down and land on the dragon's back. "Just try to keep the heads pointed away from us!" He then called out to Ben. "Try to cut through the membranes of the wing! It's easier to cripple that way!"

With one last deep breath, Cole let go to drop onto the dragon's back, grabbing his other dagger quickly and stabbing both downwards as hard as he could, one aimed for the dragon's back to use as a stabilizing grip, and the other aiming for the thinner skin of the nearby wing, hoping to try and open up a tear.

Carrying a fully grown woman through the air was not easy for Koishi. Carrying a fully grown woman through the air, crashing through the surprisingly solid masses of paper that apparently made up clouds in this place while trying to outpace a dragon was even less easy.

She said to Lune, in a surprising fit of rationality for her, "Why am I even carrying you in the first place?" The loud rush of wind and paper rustling made that question mostly unintelligible, even with her passenger's head a couple of inches away. The two of them reached the dragon's stern by the time Rex had given out his order.

She shouted over the wind in reply, "I thought that was already the plan!" Koishi gained speed, and passed the dragon well over his head, hopefully out of spitting distance. She turned around, still traveling at the same speed, and shouted, "HEY! DRAGON! We're gonna fly THIS direction, with this cool sword, so don't follow us!" Koishi, Ph D in Reverse Psychology, nudged Lune and said, "Hey, you shout something at it, too! Be enticing!"

Suddenly, Lune was bombarded by a ton of paper when they ran into the cloud. Since the group was flying at high speed, they caused plenty of paper cuts, which made the earlier bee sting wounds hurt even worse. Somehow, she would not be surprised if the man upstairs had made paper-mache bees with stingers that cause paper cuts.

She didn't hear Koishi's inquiry while they were in the cloud of paper because the numerous papers rustling in the wind drowned it out completely. It was probably a question unrelated to beating that dragon. Why did the man send that dragon in the first place?

Lune nodded when she heard the command from Rex to distract and nodded. She also felt Koishi's prodding and attempted go along with her attempt at distracting the dragon. Dad told many fairy tale stories, but he often shoehorned giant robots into them somehow. Although embarrassing to hear when Lune was young, Bian's heart was definitely in the right place. "Yeah, don't follow us! There's certainly no treasure where we're heading!"

Sonic saw the Dragon being shot in the face by Ben, who has once again, transformed into a troll like figure. Then out of nowhere, a guy, Cole, appears on top of it. Thinking that staying where he is is a bit dangerous, Sonic stepped away from the dragon.

Sonic decided to try attacking it, So Sonic charged his homing attack. After a couple of seconds, he lunged towards the dragon in his blue ball, praying that he would hit the dragon and not Ben.

Sadness clutched the knife, wishing there was a place to tuck it away safely in her dress. She eventually opted for her sleeve, leaving the metal side facing out and digging the point slightly into the fabric to lessen the chance of it accidentally stabbing her. There was still a little blood on the blade...she tried not to give it any thought.

She could hardly believe her luck, though. "Yes! Let's go inside the library, please. It's much safer. The dragon won't even look at us. And we can get you cleaned up or something." Realizing she was still holding Mary's dress, she clutched it tighter, making a note to find some place to wash it once they were in the library's safety.

She had taken Mary's knife and convinced her not to make them climb the large, dangerous beanstalk - score one for Sadness.

Sinon shout upright, shaking the stars from her eyes.

"...Well, that hurt a lot less than I was expecting."

With a quiet groan, she disentangled herself from the remains of the bookcase she'd been slammed into and knocked the glass from her hair.

"Either way I guess that's what I get for rushing in without a plan. Like I already criticised everyone for. Idiot."

"Yup. That tasted purple."

Morty climbed on his back, and mentioned something about a saddle. He remembered saddles. Bumblebee mentioned they were used by cowboys to ride on horses comfortably and also so they won't easily fall off. He had a point on that but...

"What do they use to make one? I don't think there's anythin' we could use to make one," hesaid as he moved to where the plant thing was.

He turned around and started climbing down, rear end first. It was easier for him thanks to being able to look backward with his neck. He eventually reached to the bottom, though it took longer than when he went up. He made a slight thud when he landed, thankfully, he was careful enough to not land on his right hind leg. He noticed most of the people he saw earlier were still here. The goat guy, Mary and Sadness, and...Sawyer, was it? He forgot. There was also Specter Knight, who he only recognized because of his scythe.

He lowered his neck again to let Morty off.

Today's forecast is a sunny 451 degrees fahrenheit with a high chance of burning death

Miss Tairee watched behind Twilight as Rex and Koishi flew into the cloud bank with their passengers in tow, her mouth gawking slightly. "Did those idiots just..." Miss Tairee trailed off, and preemptively started to cringe for what was about to happen next.

Inside the cloud, as they got close to drop him on the dragon, Cole would start to pick up Vendral's thoughts again. It was mainly the hurts that Rick, Ben, and Brother Marcus had inflicted so far, but despite that, Vendral seemed... Pleased. But pleased about what? As Cole dropped onto the dragon's back, he started to get it; Vendral wasn't hiding in the clouds. He was baiting them. And if he, Rex, and Ben looked up slightly, they'd see that Vendral had crossed his necks to point both heads backwards, one angled to look down at them with an eye, the other angled to look up at Koishi and Lune with an eye, and both heads grinning wickedly, despite the crystals Ben was firing at them. There were two distinct words Vendral thought at that moment. Mortals, burn. Then, in a quick and fluid motion, both of Vendral's heads started to shoot out a torrent of flame, and swung back around forward in one second. This effectively fired out a ring of fire horizontally, but that didn't hit any of the group, it only hit the cloud surrounding them...

... The cloud made of thousands upon thousands of sheets of paper, all whirling about with the wind force caused by Vendral's massive wings.

The second after Vendral had fired, the entire cloud bank spontaneously combusted into a fiery hellstorm, making Rex, Cole, Koishi, and Lune all acutely aware of what it was like to be inside of a fireball, because they were. Diamondhead was of course resistant to the fire, but his entire vision suddenly became burning paper, which made seeing Vendral's right head swinging back at him a bit problematic until the head was already too close to react to; thankfully the impact didn't hurt that much either, but less thankfully he was now free falling away from Vendral.

With his unwanted passengers taken care of, Vendral came diving out of the flaming cloud, rolling in the air to make anyone still on his back at that point fall off. Trailing smoke and burning paper like a crashing airplane loaded with tax forms, Vendral was on a direct course after Twilight; but far from coming crashing like a plane, he was in full control of his course, and his course was nothing but destruction and death for whatever got in his way.

Down below on the ground, Brother Marcus gave a quick, "hmph" sounding both slightly disappointed and somewhat satisfied. "Those fools" the space marine muttered, and started running in the direction of the library, trying to stay underneath the dragon.

Once she was done cringing, Miss Tairee looked back at Vendral, the burning cloud, and the dark night sky with widened eyes. "This ain't gonna work" Miss Tairee muttered, then looked at Twilight. "Listen! That dragon's gotta be dead before midnight! We're runnin' outta time here! Let it have me back, then bring me some pen and paper!" she said to the alicorn, desperately and insistently.

Fighting Vendral in the sky

Diamondhead, though not affected by the flame, was blinded by the sudden burning paper surrounding him, which didn't help him dodge Vendral's attack. He let out a surprised yell when Vendral whacked him off his back. He had to react quickly; if he didn't, he would be a billion shards all over the ground below. Thinking quickly, he pulled out his grappling hook, somehow it wasn't burnt by the dragonfire. He then lashed it out towards the now-divebombing Vendral, hoping to lash onto the beast and pull him back onto its body.

If he was successful, he would stab Vendral as soon as he reached the beast, holding on for dear life this time. If he failed.... he would brace for impact.

"Blast it!" Plague Knight said when his bomb failed to do any sort of significant damage. "I'll have to find some way to get higher - "

The dragon started climbing higher, concealing itself in the clouds. "No way I'll be able to get up that high under my own power! Maybe someone at the library has the ability to fly me up there....." He pondered, he noticed something falling up the two-headed beast. Some kind of shoddy, mechanical armor that looked like to have been slapped together by a rank amateur. On further inspection for found the one piloting it......

"Rick?"

Whatever the thing used as a power source exploded in a fiery explosion. The knight did not see Rick amongst the flames.......

A beat.

Plague Knight took a moment of silence to reflect and mourn upon his fellow scientist, for while Rick had his faults, the man was still -

"HEE HEE HEE HEEEEEEEEEEEE HEE HEE HEH HEH!!"

Who are kidding, Plague Knight was uproariously laughing at Rick's misfortune and possible death with immense amusement.

"That's what you get with making low grade mechanical armor!" PK yelled at Rick's general direction, scolding him as if he standing next to the knight. "Tinker Knight could make children's toys of better quality than that ramshackle cow manure! I bet even myself can build something of grander quality then - !"

-U-U-U-U-U-U-U-

"I am very sorry kind sir, I was starving and looking for shelter!" pleaded the handsome young blond teen with flowing blond hair.

"So that's your excuse?!" angrily said the large bear, standing at the foot of the bed. "You could have just taken a single bowl of porridge and left, but instead you defile our supper, destroy our furniture, loot through are belonging, and now you're lying in my daughter's bed, doing God know what disgusting things within!"

"Actually sir, I was just sleeping here - "

"How do you explain that stain then?!"

"Truthfully, I am very much afraid for my life right now," the teen admitted.

The larger bear growled. "All the same, we're having meat for dinner!" The large bear was about to lunge at the human, teeth and claws bared -

"Wait, dear," said a bear slightly smaller than father bear. "I have a better idea. We have been trying to find a suitor for daughter for quite some time, and what better opportunity then now?"

"You honestly don't mean - ?"

"Yes father, I finally get to have a husband!" the shortest bear said, grabbing the human teen and hugging him tightly, his face smooshed into her chest. The teen's face was a deep shade of purple right now, blue from being unintentionally strangled and red from the rising heat he was feeling from being hugged by a cute maiden.

"What say you?" the mother bear said. "As long as you able to provide us with grandchildren and never leave my daughter's side, you are welcome to stay here for the rest of your life."

From his limited vision above the daughter's ample valley, he looked between the daughter's ecstatic expression; the calculating, devious look of the mother; and finally the father, whom looked like would murder him in a second if not for the protests of the rest of the family. The blond teen weighed his options. He opened his mouth to speak.....

Suddenly a loud crash could be heard from the first floor and something smashed through the front door, followed by the sound of something falling down the stairs in reverse, and then some little man in a greed plague doctor outfit burst into the bedroom through the door and landed in a heap.

A beat.

"Well," Plague Knight said while laying on the ground. "That was a fascinating experience." He got up and dusted himself off. Then he noticed he was in a large room with three beds, the smallest having a blond teenager within and surrounded by three bipedal bears, the smallest holding the teen in a combination of a lovers' embrace and a headlock.

"Am I interrupting something? I am terribly sorry," he said. "I will see myself out." Plague Knight then turned around to leave the room and then the house.

When he came outside, he saw as the entire cloud bank burst into immense flames, and the dragon lowering it out of it, dive bombing out of the inferno chasing something like a guardian of Hell chasing after an escapee. The Knight took another swig of the Fleet Flask and resumed chasing after the dragon.

Mary - Looking for Hou-RUN

"No," Mary replied bluntly, looking around. "The library is too big. We need some place smaller, harder to notice. Maybe a house, or a shop, or something like-"

She was interrupted by a sudden light coming from the sky. She looked up, and her eyes went so wide it almost looked like they were about to come right out. Naturally, the first thing that came to her mind when she saw the gigantic fire cloud and the sillhouette of the two-headed dragon coming out of it was to immediately run away and hide in the first building apart from the library that she could find.

Which is exactly how she ended up darting into a carpentry shop as fast as she possibly could, and slamming the door shut with such force that the windows vibrated.

Having fun isn't an... allegory, when you've got a library, uh, Morty...

Morty slid off of Grimlock's back and looked around. "H-here we are, huh?" He stared up at the big dragon and kicked the ground. "I mean, uh, it's g-getting real late, huh? I bet, uh, I bet everyone back there has it taken care of, so, uh, so..."

It was around this point that a good chunk of the sky burst into flame. Morty turned around slowly, took a second or two to process what he was seeing... and rolled his eyes in exasperation, finally fed up with the fairy tale shenanigans. "Oh. Huh. W-whaddya know, the sky's on fire too. I mean, uh, I bet that's gonna put a real dent in our evening plans, huh? I guess someone dropped the ball. I'm gonna go h-hang out somewhere where I'm not surrounded by fl-flammable materials." Then the dragon itself - engulfed in a stream of burning paper, with both of its heads looking monumentally pissed off - swooped out of the sky, racing towards the library and causing all of Morty's faux-bravado to evaporate.

"H-h-holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!" he screamed as bolted for the nearest door- which happened to be the library- joining the mad scramble for cover with some of the other bystanders. The teenager did his best to stop from screaming as he held the door open, beckoning anyone else inside... before slamming the door as tight as it would shut and ducking under one of the tables.

"Oh shit oh shit... oh jeez, I-I-I-I don't wanna get cooked to death here, you know?" he murmured to himself ."I, uh, I don't wanna die! Again!"

"I knew it!" squawked a chicken as it paraded up and down one of the tables, its yellow eyes bulging out of its head and disturbingly askew. "I told 'em the sky was falling! I knew it! Cluck and cover, that's what I always say! I told 'em, I did! Who's laughing now, eh?"

"J-just shut up, okay?!" Morty threw a book over the chicken's head, sending it squawking up and away into the nether reaches of the library.

Seeing the heads make such a threatening motion, Koishi correctly assumed that things were about to get hot, but incorrectly assumed that her distraction had worked. She turned around and gained speed, but before she could finish saying "Okay, time to-" she realized the path in front of her was nothing but flame. She tried to dodge the massive cloud of fire in any way she could, but she couldn't quite go under it fast enough and received the full brunt of the blaze.

Her reaction to being on fire was delayed, her mind not registering the searing heat for a couple of moments before she was entirely conflagrated as her linen robe burned extremely well. She immediately let go of Lune, dropping her over the dragon with her prized sword in tow, not caring or cognizant of what could happen to them. Flying ahead with incredible speed, the subconscious desire inside to simply get away from what was hurting her drove her to move faster than she had ever flown before for a few panic-filled seconds. It did nothing to put out the fire, and with an ear-splitting scream she spiraled back down to the earth a few seconds later, her entire body burning to a crisp and every inch in agony. Her last few seconds were not enjoyable in the least.

Her corpse never hit the ground, the small fireball detaching from the larger inferno and simply blinking out of existence before it reached the treeline.

Koishi woke up, still screaming as if she had never stopped, lying on her back in the middle of what must of been a copse of trees a few minutes ago. Now, there was nothing but ashes and some lucky scraps of paper covering the ground uniformly, the results of Vendral recently passing over the area.

She stopped as soon as she figured out that she was alive and not on fire. She wasn't in any place to remember why this was the case at the time, the shock of the incredible pain of burning to death still very fresh in her mind. The only thing she could come up with, aside from the panic of realizing she just died, was that the light dusting of ash falling out of the sky reminded her of winter.

She stared into the sky for about a minute, her mind a little bit blanker than usual, before very solidly passing out. She would soon wake up with many, many more questions than before, but now was not the time.

Lune was burnt alive. She screamed as her head felt the brunt of the burning, as the body she is controlling was hollow. Now, she truly knew what being a oven roast felt like. However, she was determined to see her plan through. Unfortunately, Koishi had to let go of Lune. Hopefully, Koishi made it out okay.

Before she landed on the dragon, Lune tried to recall a quote she read from the book by Sun Tzu. “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Basically, that's why they struggled in the battle against Brother Marcus and in the battle against the dragon. For the battle against Marcus, they didn't understand their abilities and ended up hitting each other like buffoons. For the battle against the dragon, they didn't understand how the dragon attacked and suffered the consequences by burning alive.

Before she inevitably succumbs to her injuries, Lune attempts to stab all of her swords, starting with the sword Koishi had left behind, into the dragon's back.

Cole had plenty of dealings with fire and dragons in the past. This wasn't even the first time he'd been set on fire by a dragon if he were being honest. The difference being that back home, he was always accompanied by at least one mage who was throwing healing magic and shields the very instant such a thing started, and the pain was fleeting and tolerable. Not to mention he usually had enough of a warning that the dragon was about to unleash it that he could call it out.

Too much was happening at once here. He had already known and expected the dragon to still be caged in its own head, and by the moment he was realizing that there were thoughts in there that no longer felt quite so under glass, the fire had already started.

His own body was agony enough, but along with the malicious glee from the dragon, the four around him were in their own pains. The green creature that somehow reminded him of that child Ben wasn't too poorly off, but the others were in the same degree of heat as he was. Cole let go of both daggers, grabbing for his head as though that could block out the sudden explosion of pain in all directions, and the last thing he was aware of was both falling and burning all at once. Falling again, but in the right direction this time...

...somehow, some way, he was on the ground somewhere, intact, huddled into a ball and shivering just a moment later. His body didn't hurt anymore, but his mind was still rolling over and over the pain and screams of the people he'd been with, that had died in immense hurt with him.

He'd died. Again.

Cole sat up quickly, touching his face, pulling at his own hair. Was he still him, or was he changed? Could he remember everything? Rhys, Evangeline, Lambert...the Inquisition, Solas, Varric, yes, those memories were there. He was a spirit of Compassion that had become a human boy, and he had tried to help. He knew who and what he was. It wasn't like before. That was enough of a relief to ease his mind a little, trying to stamp back the memory of hurt and pain to get refocused on exactly had happened.

An abrupt burst of fear from somewhere nearby caught his attention, and he grimaced at it, turning his head, then blinking and slowly looking up at the night sky, still glowing from the blaze of the paper clouds. The dragon...it was still going, wasn't it. But here he was by himself now, without the nice person who had helped him to fly, scary as that had been. How could he help now?

Cole tried to rise to his feet, shaky and rather uncoordinated, and this did bring back the vague recollection of rising onto two feet for the very first time, unsure quite how to work a mortal body. He shuddered, and for only a second, yet again, a faint wispy green mist seemed to briefly emanate about his eyes, almost but not quite a glow.

No, no no. He had to help. He had to. He couldn't afford to give in to his own pain, he had to think of something.

The fear. He could try to help with that. It wasn't much, it wasn't stopping the dragon, but until he could get back to it somehow, it was at least something. He turned, still stumbling, tripping, barely able to keep his legs under him, and moved towards the library as best he could, just focused on following the fear.

I MISS YOU DAY 3

"Wait, Mary, wait!" Sadness dashed after her, but her stubby legs prevented her from keeping up. She spotted Mary ducking inside the nearest shop and followed as fast as she could. Something had caught the whole sky to go up in flames, and she could feel the heat all the way from the ground. Hot ash rained to the ground, catching in her hair and causing her hat to smolder.

She arrived inside the carpentry shop and went straight to the window. She squinted against the column of fire, but it was impossible to see anyone else. Were they okay? Had all the people trying to protect them just gone up in smoke?

Panic mode was setting in. "Mary - Mary, I'm sorry, I don't know what to do, I don't think I can do this anymore -

"Let's just hide in here, okay?"

Near the dragon — Shoulda seen that coming

The dragon surprised Rex by using the paper clouds on his favor and not just as camouflage, setting them on fire to kill everyone near him. He decided to blame the fact that he hadn't slept in almost two days, a man needed his beauty sleep after all.

But the thing was he was being burned alive and needed to think of a plan. Fast. Maybe putting out the fire with wind. Sure, his turbines would probably suck a bit of fire which would hurt a lot but it beat being set on fire.

It wasn't enough to stop the fire from burning most of his body but it let him escape (more like plummet to the ground) in relative safety.

He regained consciousness a few seconds later and just meters away from hitting the earth at full speed.

Back on the ground, a sentient snowman cheerfully walked enjoying the sunlight. His happiness was cut short when Rex accidentally crushed him with his mechanic feet to break his fall, leaving a pretty big crater.

"Snow? Ugh... Not again" he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

Outside the library

Rex felt a lot better, his skin didn't hurt anymore, his legs were okay, and he even stopped feeling sleepy. He knew he had just died but he didn't like thinking about it, his death seemed like a bad dream now and he prefered to act like if it was.

Still, dying was quite a experience that had deeply affected Rex so he entered the building ignoring the different characters inside and sit on one of the chairs there, not looking at anything in particular.

Near the Beanstalk

Asgore was about to reply when he noticed the fire storm in the sky, whatever happened up there was likely not very pleasant for the others.

"Uh... That looks bad." said Asgore, as he stared at the dragon "I hope everyone is all right."
