Two, Outside Forest
Much as she feared, the creature could turn intangible as it pleased. She shuddered when the contact was made; it felt appropriately awful. "No. You're a Ghostfreak and we'll call you as such." At the very least, the monster was content with just taunting them some. That was a self-solving problem, at least.
The bluenette knelt down and rubbed her hands into the grass to try and get the awful feeling off her fingertips, felt even through her gloves. Then, she turned to Makoto with fire in her eyes. With a few steps she was right by her friend before pulling her into a tight hug. Two was definitely angry - but it was anger both at Ghostfreak and at herself, for being so powerless to fail to stop the thing. "I'm sorry I failed. I won't let him hurt you, Makoto, ever." She whispered into her shoulder, shuddering almost as much as the person in this group that was afraid of ghosts.
"If he ever comes close, I'll rip him apart..."
Prison
Garrett looked at the arriving militia members, scowled, and dropped his dagger on the floor. "I suppose I could've planned this better," he muttered.
After a moment of thought, he added: "...You might want to search that prisoner in striped clothes, by the way." Now that any possible distraction to be gained from Jackson's escape was moot, there was no point in getting the militia even madder at him than they already were.
I stared at my phone a little too long, unsure, not quite processing for a moment that I'd just asked for my mom's number. I...guess there was no changing my mind now. Was there? It didn't seem like the writer's style...though there didn't seem to be any harm in trying...but then, how could you be sure. People weren't always predictable even without getting literal omnipotence involved.
Did I really want or need to anyway? Would it matter if I spent this call this way and not on, say, fixing Vivi? That wasn't a sure shot, something simpler like telling the girls I'm okay sorta not really I'm literally a dead man walking and more recently a victim of mass abduction but don't worry I'll be fine more or less was more certain, nerves notwithstanding. But one had some idea where to find me and another...
It would probably have been a lot easier to fall back into overthinking if it weren't so damn loud in here.
What the hell, I hadn't gotten much mileage out of today anyway, between the brooding and the manipulative assholes and the medieval politics and the brooding about manipulative assholes in medieval politics. Granted, you got sick of forests after being stranded in one long enough but there were more interesting things out there, things to do other than play with your magic and plan for a nebulously-existent future and wallow in self pity. Maybe because it was technically a crowded town with people and facilities and not the middle of nowhere.
I got up and started walking toward the nearest door, on the way reaching for the sleeve of a yellow shirt with a disinterested "Morty we're going camping."
i guess you can watch me shitpost i guessWoods'
"Wow, he talks kind of funny. And is also kind of angry," Caboose noted obviously. "Also, I was sure I got his name guessed right but... I'm keeping Ghostykins. It sounds better than The Square. Even though he is a square." He seemed completely nonplussed about the threats delivered by the ghost.
Makoto seemed kind of bummed out about something. The soldier wasn't really sure what it was, though. "You didn't fall down, though," was his only input into the thing where she said that she didn't stand her ground.
"Hey, little girls can be scary!" Caboose said to Rex who was sharing his own fear over one. "Though not as bad as babies sometimes are. They just looks so beady eyed and fat and it really is creepy." Caboose didn't like human babies that much. Some might even say there were times when he hated them.
Deciding that there was a noticeable lack of preparing for camping. Caboose took matters into his own hand, and started gathering wood scattered among the place. As he did this, Caboose used his face to manipulate the pamphlet in his helmet open so he could multitask and read some of it. While he didn't get to the parts involving insanity or flowers yet, the act of reading while walking around a dark forest resulted in many painful sounding cracks and crashes as he walked into trees over and over. After a few minutes he walked back into the middle of a group while holding a bundle of wood more fit for a bonfire than a campfire. "So... how do we set this thing up?" he asked seriously. He was also going to ask Two about why she was two years old according to this but that could wait.

Why is a yam attacking me?Well... it all had worked out well! This Care apparently just felt like talking and leaving, which was good! It meant they would be able to focus on their camping trip! ...once they managed to cheer Makoto up, of course. Her problem was that she was sad she didn't do anything to stand up for herself, right? Then... that was easy! All she needed was some motivation for next time!
"Hey, it's okay, you were afraid, it happens," Yuna assured her troubled friend. "It actually happened to me the first time I had to fight the Vertex. We were in a strange place, and there was this huge monster coming to end the world, and I just stood back because I was afraid and I didn't know what to do. But then... I saw my friends were in trouble, and I knew if I didn't do something they could die, so... I had no choice but to step up and fight too."
"So yeah, it happens to all of us. It's okay to be scared, and I know it can be hard, but... I think that if you try, you're gonna be able to stand up for yourself and others next time! We're gonna be here if you need us, so give it your best shot, okay? You're likely to succeed if you try!"
“I’m glad to hear it, Ben.” Herc replied in response, happy to see that his friend was a little better he then decided to go get some of the marshmallows out of the bag that Louie had. He then pulled one out and examined it in his hand and then looked at it with complete awe and asked: “Is this what a marshmallow really looks like?” He then felt it, it was soft and just good enough to eat. Hercules then brought the marshmallow up to his mouth and then ate it.
Herc than savored the taste, it was quite chewy yet satisfying at the same time. “Mmmm, this is pretty good.” He said in between a mouthful of the marshmallow he was eating. And just as he finished eating it, who should show up but Eve, Arcade and a kid who Herc had never seen before until now. “See? Told you she’d be alright!” Herc called over to Ben as he was greeting her as well as Arcade and the kid.
Hercules decided to greet them as well and gave them a simple “Hi!” and waved to them as they arrived at the spot that the threesome were now in. Things were gonna get really interesting, he could tell already.

Soon the trio (and Varric) found themselves at the fire Ben was inviting them to. Eve mentioned finding it easily, and Arcade joked, "hey, I helped. What, no credit for me?"
He couldn't help but chuckle softly as Ben once again became very excited to see Eve. That was incredibly cute, he found. There wasn't enough precocious romance in his experience. He waved back at Hercules, not quite remembering their first meeting.
I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life."And then Ghostfreak got angry at being called that, and shouted that his name was...The Scare. Rean stared at the ectonurian. "Uh...right." Rean said. That's...not much better than Ghostfreak... Then Ghostfreak just bolted off into the darkness, taunting the group as he vanished.
"Well, that happened." Rean said, sheathing his sword. Makoto was still distraught, upset with herself over freezing up back there. Then the rest of the group pitched in to try and cheer her up. "I'd add my two cents, but I'd just be repeating what everyone else said already." Rean said, shrugging. "But if you need help, I'm here too." He then turned towards Caboose who now had a massive bundle of wood in his arms. "Oh, thanks Caboose." He then looked around, trying to find a clearer spot. "We might want to go deeper into the forest, though. There's too many trees here to really make a fire."
Cole turned his attention when he saw Ben, and immediately let out what could only be called an ear-piercing screech of happiness, grinning widely when Ben came over to hug he and Eve. "Ben! Ben Ben Ben look, look I brought the mirror and you can meet Varric!"
Varric, in the meantime, grimaced at the high sound, using his pinky to rub at his ear a moment. "Geez, Kid, you keep doing that." He then looked at the group, and on sighting Ben, raised his eyebrows. "Oh so...you're Ben, huh? ...when Cole said you were 'too young to be a hero, but still a hero' I was...kinda expecting someone a bit older than you."
As soon the little kid noticed Ben he let out an ear piercing screech and then Hercules covered both his ears with his hands once that happened. "Owww my ears! Your going to give us earache at this rate..." Herc groaned as he took his hands away from his ears and then walked over to the kid.
"By the way I don't think I've met you before. I know Arcade and Eve because of Ben but I'm guessing your with them. My name's Hercules and you are?" Herc then said to the little boy deciding to be friendly with him as it seemed only fair to get pretty acquainted with the new company that was at the campsite.
Rick, Morty, and Summer were all in the middle of what could charitably be called a disagreement when Morty was abruptly yanked away -still grasping the communications console and bringing Summer with him.
"Wait, wait. Where are we going?" asked Summer as she pressed her face up to the screen, staring with confusion at the sylvan forest around them. "I thought you guys were stuck in a city."
"I thought you were stuck at home with your dumb parents, but I guess we're both wrong, huh." snapped Rick as he followed Lewis and Morty.
"Why are you guys being dragged around by... is that a skeleton or something? Is he a zombie?"
"He's a - look, it's complicated, okay?!" shouted a flustered Morty.
The militia members, undeterred, quickly secured both Riddler and Garrett with a simple insurance measure: A pair of handcuffs, with one part placed onto one of the criminal's wrists, with the other end attached to a militia member's wrist. The idea being that Garrett and Riddler would not be able to pull or yank on the handcuff since that would cause pain to the militia member, and would therefore be unable to go anywhere even if they got out of the pig orc's or Silanea's grip, respectively. True, Riddler and Garrett could try to turn the tables to keep the militia member in place, but, they were already in prison, so it's not like the militia members wanted them to go anywhere anyway.
Wells looked at Riddler with an unimpressed, bored, and angry expression, clearly not buying a moment of it. Though with a slight turn of Wells' eyes towards Garrett, albeit his expression unchanging, it was clear that the thief's message took priority; the militia leader then looked at a couple of the idle militia members. "Go check Jackson's cell. If he's there, stick around and keep an eye on him. If he's not, go find him, and get him back in a cell. A different cell" Wells ordered them, his frustration evident, before turning back towards Riddler and Garrett.
"If it was 'momentary' I would consider it, mister Nigma, but trying to act like that was the case now is just insulting. You had multiple opportunities already when you should have realized that this nonsense wasn't going to work, but instead you insisted on wasting my time and kept me from getting to the library to get my call home to my family yet- it's already bloody dark out" Wells ranted, his voice level yet still clearly furious. "Mister Nails has already made me well aware of the integrity of your character, mister Nigma, and your actions today have only clarified what he told me. I consider it a great shame that I can only hold you here until you are sent home; you should clearly be behind bars indefinitely, by my opinion" the militia leader continued.
Wells shook his head for a moment, letting out a breath and getting a bit calmer. "Besides, I have to say that this was rather pathetic. If this was really the best plan you could come up with, then it's no wonder you're always beaten by an aristocrat who dresses himself in bat-themed pajamas" Wells added as a neutral toned snark.
One of the militia members nearby, Nails, shuffled on his feet for a moment. "I'm pretty sure Batman could beat you too, boss" Nails commented.
"Nails" Wells stated sternly, letting the, 'shut the fuck up now is not the time' go unsaid, but Nails seemed to get the picture, as he glanced away with an embarrassed expression.
"R-right, sorry sir" Nails muttered.
Louie stood but didn't move from his spot by the fire, looking towards the new arrivals with a smile. "Hey hey! You made it!" Louie cheerfully said. "Come on, get some marshmallows! Ben was just about to show us how to make, uh... What did you say they were called again?" the trainer asked towards Ben.
"Can you really blame them for being angry though? I mean come on dude, you only seem to do things that help us out after making us go through your challenges" Adam's voice was saying, the conversation having turned a bit ago towards the wrongdoings of the Writer, aside from the obvious inter-universal kidnapping.
"You misunderstand me. I acknowledge their right to be angry. I do not argue that. I am simply pointing out that should also consider the conveniences I have placed in the city for them that I did not have to" the Writer's puppet responded, his voice still calm and bland as ever.
"Like what, the shifting around that makes it a pain in the ass to get anywhere? Or do you mean the hostile monsters and shit that come around trying to kill us like every other day?" Jeff's voice asked sarcastically in return, before more seriously commenting, "go ahead, name one thing that's good for us that you didn't make us earn first."
"How about a demonstration instead?" the Writer's puppet asked in return, voice still the same.
Suddenly, everything blurred for a brief moment. Though when it stopped, everything still seemed the same, physically at least.
"What..? What was that? What did you just do?" Jeff's voice asked.
"Listen to your other channel for a moment" the Writer's puppet suggested as his answer.
There was silence, then Jeff's voice again, "I don't get it, just sounds like a bunch of people talking. I can't even make out what any of them are saying."
"Wait, Jeff, listen closer, you hear that? The deep, gruff voice that's a bit clearer than the others?" Adam's voice commented.
"Hold on, let me... Yeah, but I still don't get what he's saying. Is that even real words?" Jeff's voice went on.
"Jeff, that's the point. That's not English" Adam's voice pointed out.
"... Ooh... Oh. Oh" Jeff's voice muttered as the realization hit him.
Of course, those who were listening who didn't speak English would've realized something was up sooner, as the only person's voice who got translated was the Writer's puppet.
When the momentary blurring was over, Wells instinctively and quickly drew his phaser, pointed it at Riddler's face, and pulled the trigger; the weapon promptly misfired and did nothing. Wells then tried to whack himself in the arm, which also failed. Satisfied that the day conditions were still active, Wells glanced about at the other militia members. "Alright, anybody know what that was about?" Wells asked.
"... Sriss kro vei, Whells?" Silanea hesitantly said, even the proper noun of Wells' name coming out throaty and not quite right. The pig orc, catching on faster, just muttered under his breath in what seemed to be Russian, his tone sounding sarcastic and unmistakably a comment akin to 'oh great'.
A few other militia members expressed similar confusion in other languages, which made Wells groan as he likewise caught on. "Well isn't that just bloody wonderful. Come on then, we've still got a job to do" Wells said, pointing one arm to the militia members gathered around Garrett and Riddler, then pointing towards the armory doors. They seemed to get the idea, and started working to move the two criminals that way, as Wells led them.
With the blurring happening before Ben could give an answer, Louie looked around with a surprised expression, and tried to ask about what the blurring was about, in what was essentially Japanese.
In addition to the translating being cut off, when the blurring happened, Morty was teleported out of Lewis' grip and right back to where he originally started the call to Summer.
Of to one side of the lobby, the Church of Literacy members briefly expressed their own confusion and quickly realized what had happened among each other... And simply looked up to request a translated copy of the book they had been trying to read, save for the lucky few who had a book in their own language already.
Veela meanwhile still showed no reaction.

"Indefinitely? I've only ever committed harmless tomfoolery in this town and that deserves a life sentence. Riddle me thi-" Riddler protested, beginning a riddle to counter Wells' points until the green-clad supervillain stopped short. Wells said something most intriguing.
"Did you say "aristocrat?" What do you mean by that?" he asked, still not privy to the best kept secret in Gotham City.
"What do you mean by that? WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT?" he raged to Wells. He was glad the man couldn't call his family - he wanted him to suffer and he wanted him out of his life but, for right now, he needed him to tell him precisely what he meant by "aristocrat." What did he know about the Caped Crusader's identity?
Prison - After
The Riddler just looked around and smirked at Wells once the language kerfuffle began happening.
"I know what's going on - TEEHEEHEE!" the Riddler giggled.
Edge of Woods- Didn't Feel Like Speaking Much Anyway
Makoto wasn't sure what she had expected Rex to say, but him telling her that it was okay and admitting one of his own fears was... nice. Though she did wonder what context she was missing about this girl he was so afraid of. But still, she needed to be better than this, especially if Zs'Skayr might come back the next day.
"If... you think so," she said, looking back at the woods. Two came over and hugged her even harder than back in the library, surprising her with the intensity of her words. As comforting as Two was trying to be, her promise only highlighted the problem that Makoto couldn't take care of herself. No one should have to worry that much over her. Yuna attempted to assure her that she'd be okay next time, but how could either of them be sure she wouldn't just freeze up a second time? It was the lack of control that upset her the most about it. Rean offered to help her too, and it just added on to her desire to not need to be rescued.
"I get what you're all saying, but... I just... need some time to try and get over it. How about we just drop it for now?" she asked. She was still frustrated, but they were trying to have fun tonight, and maybe it would distract her from her own thoughts for a while if she occupied herself with something else.
Caboose had somehow gotten a ton of firewood in less than a minute, reminding her that yes, they were supposed to be camping now. "Yes, we probably shouldn't stay out here in the open," she said, going with Rean's suggestion. The world felt like it shifted for a second, and then everything was back to normal, or so it looked.
"Watashi no baggu no raitā wa kyanpufaiyā o hajimeru tame ni tsukau koto ga dekimasu," note Makoto said as the blurring finished. She blinked and looked confused. "Hoka no dareka ga kidzuita nodesu ka?"note she asked. The day wasn't supposed to change already...

Woods
Caboose was praised for gathering the wood! "I am great at getting flammable things together!" the soldier said happily. "Starting fires is something that just happens around me!" He skipped forward a few paces at the suggestion they should move before the world blurred.
Not noticing the shift due to the fact that the world always seemed kind of wobbly and weird to him, he was nonplussed. What was odd was Caboose hearing Makoto speaking oddly. Sort of like Lopez... how odd. He couldn't understand a word she was saying! But if talking with Lopez had taught him anything, things work out if you just talk like both parties understand each other.
"Good idea, Makoto!" he said, not even sure what she was saying but it sounded like she was offering a suggestion from her tone. "We should go into the woods and start this fire!" That's what Sarge taught him! Assume they were saying what you wanted to hear and parrot back what you thought they were saying.
Why is a yam attacking me?"Dude, no" Rex told Caboose. It was honestly hard to tell when he was being serious and when he was joking at other people's expense but Rex had no time to deal with that.
Besides, they were here to have an enjoyable campfire night and dammit, that's what they were gonna do.
"Yeah, it will be great to get this situation off our heads. We can enjoy the marshmallows and whatever Two was planning on cooking. Oh and I still have a call to make"
If Rex was an expert on something—he would claim to be an expert on a lot of things—it was being able to make people forget about scary stuff with his easygoing nature and if that was what Makoto needed, he was there for her.
And the good news were she still seemed on board with the idea but Rex couldn't quite understand what she was saying, only that it was something about fire. Maybe her sense of humor had come back after all and had tried to throw everyone off by speaking Japanese all of sudden.
"Heheh what?" she kept speaking in Japanese without even making it clear it was a joke "Ok it's starting to get creepy, Makoto"
Caboose however, seemed to understand her perfectly, explaining that she wanted to start a fire deep into the woods.
"I'm sorry, am I going crazy over here or is she making no sense at all?"
...You know what, Caboose? I'll start the fire." Rean said, taking a few steps forward to follow him. The last thing Rean wanted was for the soldier to accidentally start a forest fire because he spaced out or tried to burn something that wasn't supposed to be burned.
Then the world blurred, and Rean stopped walking. "Was?"note Rean said, suddenly speaking what sounded like German. "Habt ihr das gespürt?"note he said, looking back at the rest of the group.
And then Makoto started speaking a language Rean didn't understand at all. Rex and Caboose on the other hand were speaking a language Rean understood, but it wasn't the same one he was using at the moment. Caboose in particular seemed to know what Makoto was saying. Rean pointed at Caboose. "Warte, du kannst sie verstehen? Äh, bleib dran."note Rean said, pausing to regain his focus.
"Caboose, can you understand Makoto? Rean said, now speaking English. He then turned to Rex. " I can't understand her at all either. The heck is going on?"

"'Ghost' is about the most accurate term I got," I corrected offhandedly. Who was that, some teenager following for some reason? I looked behind me just to see who it was...wait, no, it was coming from Morty's tablet. That he had. And was clearly talking to someone on.
Go figure, right.
Two seconds later the kid was zapped out of my hand, which wasn't unusual apart from the fact that everything else had the same blur effect. Nothing looked all that different after, though, so...?
"Yeah, I don't know why I did that." Besides that I really should have remembered you couldn't just drag people out of the library, I wasn't sure what made me decide I needed to bring someone with me to aimlessly wander the woods outside. Or why Morty specifically, for that matter.
I spontaneously noticed that "...Y'know, does anyone ever tell you you look like a shorter Marty McFly?"
Maybe I should ask around about what happened to literally everywhere, I thought. Well, I was effectively already carrying a radio. On channel 10, of course. "So, did everything just go fuzzy for a sec on your ends or...?"
i guess you can watch me shitpost i guessTwo, Woods - Oh No, Or Ferg Is Using Google Translate's Latin For This
Two let go, feeling a bit guilty. "R-right. Apologies." It seemed the hug helped Makoto regain some bearings, if nothing else, but... perhaps the bluenette was just a little too worried about it.
Then, however, something happened. Makoto started speaking in a strange tongue that Two didn't recognize. Neither did the others. Was this another of Writer's meddlings? It definitely had to do with this strange blur. But the day wasn't over yet... "Me paenitet, sed non capio." note Something didn't seem right, alright.
...what were the guys saying? Oh. Oh no... they all came from different worlds. Of course they would not be able to normally understand each other! O-or maybe Makoto was just scared into speaking this weird language, b-but... "...quis potest intelligere me?"note She asked, more than a little startled by this if her panicked look spoke of anything.
Woods
"Everyone is making as much sense as they normally do, Rex," Caboose said with a quizzical head tilt. "Freckles! Is everything normal?"
"Negative," the gun said to him in completely perfect english.
"Oh no, I think Freckles had a language processor broken! He should be speaking English... next thing you know hes going to build a robot army to kill us all because he got frustrated over the language barrier" Caboose responded with a complete lack of awareness. Ignoring the fact that he should know what negative meant, this was the story his brain was pushing on him. Literally the only person whose lack of understandable speech he was processing was Freckles, who wasn't even speaking a different language. "Oh well, you can still understand a few languages right, Freckles? Shoot the air once for yes!"
"''I possess rudimentary translation protocol for several different languages, Captain Caboose."
"Was that my name? That's all I could understand," Caboose said obliviously, somehow missing the fact that Freckles was still speaking in English. "Shoot the air if you can understand me!"
"...Affirmative," the gun said, before letting out a shot.
"Oh! Affirmative means yes! I can understand you again!" the soldier exclaimed excitedly, believing that the non existent problem was fixed.
Rean seemed to be under the illusion that Caboose could interpret the actions of people under normal circumstances even. "You know, understand is a strong word. Not a word I think I use too often... but everything seems normal. Anyways, let's get going!" He really didn't seem that concerned about the whole thing.
Huh, why was Two so distressed? And why was she making those garbled words? Must be some advanced vocabulary he didn't know, because Caboose wasn't that smart! "Follow me! We're wasting time." Caboose said while making gestures to signal following him. He was just going into the woods, and going to assume people would walk with him. He still hadn't noticed the existence of a language barrier.
Why is a yam attacking me?Edge of Forest- Not Quite Fluent
Makoto looked annoyed when Rex laughed. What was so funny about what she'd said?
"Hanashite iru?" note It was kind of strange how it was taking her a little longer to understand what Rex and Caboose were saying, but now it was like Rex didn't understand her at all. It sounded way too fast for her- wait... That was English they were speaking in. Rean started to speak in an entirely different language that took her longer than usual to recognize, and then switched back to English. Two looked and sounded freaked out based on the way she was now speaking Latin. Well this was going to take some sorting out. It made sense that the City was auto-translating for the last few days, but who had the ability to shut that off?
"It's the Writer," Makoto said with a sigh, switching to accented English. She wasn't nearly as good as Ann was with it, but she was just going to have to work with what she had, embarrassing or not. She grabbed Two's hand and squeezed it slightly, giving her an apologetic look. She shook her head and hoped that "no" translated right to her. "I can speak English too, but not... well," she said to Rex and Rean, having to think of the right word for a moment. "Hard to understand you if you don't talk slower." Makoto looked back at Two. "Can't speak Latin or German though..."
Caboose was somehow convinced that everything was normal, and was now walking off into the woods by himself.
"Caboose-san, please wait!" she said, letting go of Two and trying to catch up with him.
Ben smiled and held Eve for a moment, then let go and looked up at her with a wider smile.
"I'm so glad to see you guys. C'mon, we're gonna get these marshmallows ready!" he told her. Louie asked him what he called the marshmallow treat he was talking about.
"S'mores!" Ben exclaimed. "Cause if you eat one, you want s'more!" Then the world blurred out for a brief moment. Ben looked around expectantly, readying the Omnitrix.
"All right, you hack! What did you do this time?" Ben yelled to no one in particular. "I know you did something, Writer, spit it out!" The answer came sooner than Ben expected as Louie expressed his confusion in some language that Ben couldn't understand.
"I knew you'd try to pull something like this! Trying to split up the City Knights by making everyone speak nonsense! Well it isn't gonna work! We're a team and your reality-warping crud isn't gonna change that!" he yelled again. All the while, in his upset fervor, he didn't seem to notice Lewis' voice on the radio.

I can still hail the Horde even though the company has shamed us. Strength and Honor even if Blizzard has neither.Arcade had to fight very hard not to run over to Louie and grab some marshmallows. He had no idea what they were other than food. It had been so long since he had anything other than whatever he could scrounge off of the bounty hunters that he killed, and he missed the food of the city.
That desire was quelled by the sudden blurring that happened, causing him to step back slightly in surprise. Then Louie said something he couldn't understand, which was not a good sign.
At Ben's outburst, Arcade held his arms up, trying to seem placating. "Ben, Ben," he called, "I don't think this is just... directed at you. Even if it is, it seems more like a childish prank than an actual attempt at breaking up your team." While losing the ability to communicate was an incredibly effective means of breaking up a team, he hoped Ben would accept the explanation.
I say that aloud too sometimes, just: "man, no life."Rex didn't really know what he was expecting of Caboose but it was clear the soldier didn't even pay attention to his surroundings. Rex just facepalmed when he came to the conclusion Freckles was broken because he was using complex words.
"Caboose, your gun speaks perfect English"
It was clear now that whatever magic was translating their respective languages had failed—most likely intentionally—and now they had to communicate the old way. At least Makoto knew a little bit of English, enough to get the point across.
"Oh that's great, because I was thinking of trying to translate and I was blanking out on the words. There's only so much anime can teach you, am I right?"
Maybe it wasn't the best of times for jokes, but that was Rex's go-to strategy when dealing with problems.
Rean spoke a completely different language that for some reason sounded familiar to Rex but in a very vague way. At least he could speak English so that was one less thing to worry about. Two, on the other hand, speak another language and chances were Yuna was on the same boat—hopefully she had learned some English to effectively communicate with but Makoto could always try to translate for her.
"Alright, everyone chillax pero ya!" he said, forming the T of time-out with his hands.
Thankfully, Makoto's knowledge of languages didn't just extend to English as she was able to correctly identify Rean's language as German and Two's as Latin. No luck on actually being able to understand and speak them, though.
"Latin? So that's what that is? I have an idea" She was from the past and chances were even if Spanish did exist in her world at the time, it would probably be radically different to the modern one, but it was worth a shot "Uh... Dos, ¿puedes entenderme?"note

Ben glanced up when he heard Eve's voice.
"EVE!" he exclaimed, moving over to greet her. He reached his arms to try and hug Eve, before he saw Cole clinging to him as well. Ben then moved to try and hold Eve and Cole in a group hug.
"Hi, Cole! Arcade!" he greeted the child and the doctor. He then looked at the mirror that Cole was holding onto tightly, seeing what looked like a middle-aged dude with a five-o-clock shadow. "You're Varric, right? Cole told me about you. Nice to meet you."
