Spyro and Sparx-Library
“Nah, I think I’ve got it,” Spyro said dismissively. He really didn’t want to listen to a huge, detail filled explanation. He got enough of those from the Professor and the Elders. Beside, he felt he got the gist of it well enough.
“So, who are you guys, anyways?” Spyro then asked curiously, glancing between the two guys.
Sans excused Cole's behavior and explained that someone already wearing a big armor was causing trouble left and right so the kid was naturally afraid of Reinhardt.
"Marcus. You've probably seen him already. Eight feet tall, blue armor, sounds like he has a megaphone stuck in his throat, and has some serious anger issues"
To make things less awkward, Sans recalled his first encounter with Cole. Where the latter apparently didn't like Sans' skeletal appearance. Ah, first impressions. They really said a lot about someone, didn't they?
"Yeah, and I met him when he tried to kill Sadness. Funny how things change in a couple of weeks"
"You're the one who gave me the courage to find my way in life. That's why, this time, I want to be the one to help you find yours!"
"Can you contact Alisa Reinford?" Rean asked.

Cole didn't seem to have a lot to add to what the others were saying, just staying sort of hunkered down behind Sans. They were mostly introducing themselves, and discussing his previous troubles with Marcus. He fidgeted slightly, looking around, until Rex said what he did about Sadness.
Then the boy all but whipped his head around to glare at Rex, an entirely unfitting expression of what could only be called pure fury on such a young face. When he spoke, however, his voice seemed incredibly measured and calm.
"Oh so is that what you truly think I was trying to do? I would have though you wouldn't have seen that as a threat. You certain didn't think anything else I have done has been potentially dangerous, did you?"
Cole turned away from them, still speaking perfectly evenly. "I'm on my way to the library. After all, today is the last day I may ever have to speak to my friends back home. ...since it is a break day, and of course nothing bad has ever happened here on a break day, I should be perfectly fine to walk there alone. Shouldn't I, Rex."
He started to walk down the hall, not running or in any particular hurry, apparently, but definitely on his way.
And just like that Cole went from being in a state of pure terror to calmly throwing back a verbal comeback to Rex while having a look that spelled MURDER. Looks like the two boys had a some issues between each other and that Rex's comment in particular struck a nerve. Ah, youth. Picking up his helmet and placing it back on, he put a hand on the nanite filled teens shoulder and he told him patiently, "I don't know what happened between you and him nor do I know what you two have gone through before coming here but I can see the boy hasn't had it easy here or at home. I trust that you didn't intend for that to sting like it did Rex but it's clear that you two have some unsolved problems. I'm not going to tell not to do anything. Just...consider his feelings for awhile, yes?"
Hoping that Rex would take his suggestion to heart, Reinhardt hurried after the babby and when the knight got to him he offered a hand and asked him, "Would you like to be carried to the library little one? A old man like me can't have a child walking off all by himself after all."
After arriving with the rest of their little group, Maya wasted little time in rushing up to the nearest, less-busiest Tairee. "Excuuse me, Miss Secretary lady! I want to make a call to my cousin, Pearl, please!"
Phoenix stayed back with Jack, since it seemed like a pretty bad time to try and squeeze through the massive crowd. It seemed like a good idea, especially since Jack had found someone who Phoenix hadn't seen in a few days: Ben.
"Hey...Ben, right?" Phoenix asked, trying to get the kid's attention. Might not've been the best time, but Phoenix didn't have anything better to do. "I haven't seen you since the, ah. Desert day, I think?"

Cole thought Sans was going to eat his soul? As silly as that might sound in hindsight, she could definitely see where Cole may have been coming from there. Most places did not have living skeletons that were actually nice. When Rex brought up Marcus, she tensed up again.
She hadn't actually seen him since 2 days ago, but she couldn't imagine dealing with him at his regular size. Despite having nearly died when she tried to fight him, Makoto wasn't quite scared. If anything, he pissed her off. Whether he was useful to the City during the dangerous challenges or not, someone needed to teach him a lesson in respect. Before she could voice that opinion, Rex brought up something entirely different. Apparently Cole tried... to kill someone?
How was that even possible? Whatever the details were, she didn't have any time to ask about them before Cole glared at Rex with the intensity she expected from a fully grown person and proceeded to give him a very pointed speech in response. Well there was certainly something going on between them, even if it was hard to figure out exactly what it was.
Reinhardt summed up what was going on well enough for her to not want to add anything to it. Anything else she could say felt kind of unnecessary now. No need to rub salt further into the wound. As the crusader went off to catch up with Cole, she looked back at Rex hesitantly.
"...If you don't want to go to the library right now, I'd understand," Makoto said. "I'm sure there's... other things that could be done around here."
Miss Tairee #1 sighed and tapped a few keys. "You're just working yourself up, Ben" Miss Tairee #1 muttered as a new note appeared in front of him with a blur.
Your options have already been shown to you. But if you wish to continue spending time writing messages to me, then I'll continue to indulge you.
Perhaps you would like to communicate about this inferiority complex you seem to have, that makes you imagine yourself as being like an ant?
And beneath that was the usual shifting scribble.
Meanwhile, Melanie raised her eyebrows. "Hercules!?" Melanie said, then looked around, and headed for the nearest revolving door to go outside.
Calvin and Silvester glanced at each other and then shrugged. "We're just a couple of Fanboys, trying to enjoy our time here" Silvester said, turning back to Spyro.
"Hey if you want to hang out later, we're heading to the arcade once we're done here" Calvin offered.
Elsewhere, Miss Tairee #7 nodded to Rean and typed on her holographic screen for a bit. "Ah yes, that will be convenient. I have made it so you will be able to call her with your Combat Orbment device. But remember that you will only be able to call her once, and only today" Miss Tairee #7 informed Rean, as his Combat Orbment blurred briefly.
Even more groups were starting to arrive at the libary now. A few members of the former NHA such as the two headed ogre and Tuudol showed up; there was also a whole pack of the militia. It did not include Wells, but it did include Fastanook, and he and Veela briefly spotted each other across the lobby; Fastanook quickly averted his gaze and moved himself to the middle of the group. Veela just frowned slightly and went back to her pacing, but kept glancing her eyes over that direction occasionally.

You are reading this.Rex's remark about Sadness didn't sit well with Cole, who seemed a step close from trying to bite his head off. Of course, since it was a break day, he stuck to verbally slapping him, mostly about how Rex wasn't supposed to see Cole as important and threatening to put himself in danger since that was the case..
"Wait what?" things were blowing up without Rex even had time to react "I was joking about how things changed... because you know, they did"
Reinhardt tried to intervene. He didn't know much about the situation, a fact he himself admitted, but either way it didn't hurt if Rex considered Cole's feelings on the matter. Something was true, they obviously had unsolved issues—mostly on Cole's side because... Cole, but issues nonetheless.
Makoto sensed the tension and much like the knight, tried to handle the situation. She told Rex not going to the library was a sensible choice and there were other things they could do in the meantime. Normally Rex would have joked about Makoto's wording being... unfortunate but he was a bit shocked by Cole's reaction and already thinking too hard about how to talk to his brother, to bring it up.
"I'm not going to let anything ruin our date. Let's just follow them"
Ben read the latest note, looking over at Miss Tairee when she said he was just working himself up.
"Well what am I supposed to do?" Ben asked, the anger leaving his voice and a bit of pain entering it. "I can't just let him get away with this. He's hurt so many people and unless I can do something he'll keep hurting people... he's a monster and he needs to be stopped." He looked back at the note, and crumpled it up in his shaking hands and threw it on the floor.
At that moment Phoenix tried to get his attention and speak with him. Ben looked at him somewhat bitterly.
"What do you want?" Ben asked, the pain still in his voice. "Didn't you do enough?"

Was he seriously about to follow Cole after that? No, they did not need a Round 2 of whatever she just saw. She knew what happened when you pushed people too far when they were upset, and it was not fun for anyone.
"If you really still want to go to the library, then sure, but..." Makoto grabbed Rex's hand and pulled him in the opposite direction that Cole and Reinhardt went. "Let's go a different way instead. Sometimes people need a little time to cool down before you can talk to them again." If they wanted to talk to you at all, that was. She had some experience with that too. At the other end of the hall was a door that led outside, and Makoto and Rex ended up on one of the many paved sidewalks that were spread around the City. The carefully lined up trees and flowerbeds planted around and the neatly cut grass really did give off a college campus feel.
"This looks so weird compared to the City yesterday..." she said, looking around at the people passing by. There was some kind of forest off in the distance too.
Jack, Library, ...oh
Well, that... was significantly less awesome now. "Eh. Nevermind, nevermind. Thought you might be... someone else than I expected. Anyway, dunno about the librarians, that's like my second time coming in here."
Some new people showed up, but what concerned Jack the most was Ben being snappy. "Hey, give Phoenix a break, kiddo." He said, approaching the two. "And quit working yourself up over it. Are you saving people, doing heroic things around here? Then you're doing a good enough job."
I didn't say anything at first, just slouched a little further. He said something about annoying the Writer...?
Wait, the Writer.
Of course, why didn't I think of this before? I could just write a note and ask him to make everything right, and then get a challenge and...wait, what if the terms were horrible. (Thanks, Caro, for the indirect heads up.) If all the options were too shit to consider, then I'll have just wasted my time, and I kinda wanted some of that time to go to getting to dick around instead of agonizing over everything wrong with my life. Y'know, that thing I was wasting time doing literally right now. Ironic, right.
So maybe I also wanted to blow some time wallowing in self-pity on some level. Some. A little. A couple minutes.
In the future.
Not right this second.
But it was all so overwhelming to think about, the options, the ways they could go wrong, what could go wrong if I didn't do something or another (the latter two always seeming to end in an eternity alone), how tired I was of it all and wouldn't it be nice for all these problems to go away without all this blind panic or at least disappear for long enough to leave some sort of breathing room, even if I spent half of it stewing in pain and anger.
I just wanted...
It took a moment to register the quiet and unexpected whining noise as mine, just from how involuntary it was. I wasn't really happy with myself for making it.

i guess you can watch me shitpost i guess"Okay? Whatever you say." Hercules replied shrugging not really knowing what Jack really meant decided to leave it at that. At this point he turned around to see Ben getting all bent out of shape about something to do with their captive. The writer so that was his name. Ben was apparently snapping at a man in a strange blue toga who was just trying to say hello to him. The being that had kept him here in this place for so long had apparently gotten to him.
"Ben,Ben you don't need to snap at anybody. You need to calm down." Herc said addressing him calmly trying to settle down the boy he had just met. Hercules was looking awfully concerned at Ben now, if Ben wasn't calmed down soon who knows what might happen next.

"Oh, sorry about that!" A bit bashful that she hadn't seen the other occupant in the room, Hibiki couldn't help but chuckle awkwardly and gave a slight bow towards the girl's direction. She was around Tsubasa's age it seemed and had the same sort of bearing as her senior, like a sheathed weapon. Still, the young lady seemed to be a nice girl so Hibiki was emboldened.
"My name's Hibiki Tachibana! Age seventeen, student of Lydian Private Music Academy!" Doing a brisk salute that seemed to be rather on point despite her overall age and demeanor, the Symphogear user held it for a moment... before a familiar armored man crashed into the room. "Oh, Mister Caboose! I don't think this is a place of worship, sorry to say. I didn't know you're religious." Still, that was a pleasant surprise and the girl smiled and came over to the big man's side. "Do you want me to help you look around for the church?"
Cole had some choice of words for how Rex was acting, which culminated in him trying to leave on his own. Sans just sighed and put a hand on his forehead for a second before going after him alongside the big armored dude.
"didn't i tell you we would be going to the library later? gee, kid, it's the third time now." He said with the slighest hint of annoyance in his voice.
Cole didn't stop walking, keeping his eyes averted from Reinhardt when the man spoke to him. Only when Sans caught up did he finally let out a soft sound that didn't even quite manage to be a sigh.
"...I'm sorry...I...I don't mean to make you upset so much, Sans. I'm just..."
He looked over at the skeleton, looking sad and somewhat resigned all at once. "I have an entire world to say goodbye to today. I don't...I don't want to...waste any time without that. I'll never see any of them again, if...if the Writer is real about...not sending me back. I just..."
He looked down again, fidgeting his fingers a little. "...it is all right, Reinhardt Wilhelm, if...you would rather go back with...Rex, and...Makoto, was it? Th-thank you..."
Before Rex could continue on his merry way and maybe give Cole a piece of his mind, Makoto intervened yet again and took Rex with her outside the building. She was right about letting Cole cool down before trying to strike a conversation but the pattern of crying and name-calling was most likely going to repeat itself.
"I don't know if Cole does that. He just plain hates me"
The view outside was as mundane as inside which, given this was a floating city filled with people from multiple universes, it was a little unsettling. Makoto agreed.
"Yeah, I don't know what's up with the theme either. 'Suspiciously normal day', I guess. Don't get surprised if the trees suddenly start attacking us"
Prison
From his vantage point, Garrett took careful stock of the building, paying special attention to the devices which reminded him vaguely of the Watchers back home. If these gadgets were anything like the Watchers, he stood no chance of approaching the building unseen from this direction, especially with the lack of shadows in this city.
Garrett lowered himself to the ground. For a couple of minutes he paced around, deep in thought.
Then he started to walk around the building towards the front entrance. (On the way, he made sure to toss out the Riddler's recruitment posters he still had in his bag of holding.) He knocked on the jail's front gate, waiting for someone to show up.

Campus
"I think this is supposed to be a college campus," Makoto said. "Unless there's a twist to the theme, but break days aren't meant to be dangerous, right?" She wondered exactly what made Cole hate Rex like that, but bringing it up right now didn't seem like a good time. Realizing that she was still holding Rex's hand, she let him go and rubbed the back of her neck, taking a few steps away. "Ah, sorry about that. I guess we should follow the crowds if we want to get to the library. I'm not sure if you wanted to walk there, or..."
It'd be much faster to use bikes, but maybe Rex wanted to walk. People who were on a date did things like that, right?

"Eww, schools" Rex joked after Makoto theorized the day theme had to do with college.
That sounded weird but break days were not supposed to have threats. And unless a Spanish test was going to show up around the corner in the next few seconds, that seemed to be the case today. That hardly meant it wasn't going to be dangerous.
"Not physically, anyway. On the first break day I dealt with the Ruckus trying to start a fight with Silanea's group. On the second, Ghostfreak got loose while the Ruckus were trying to revive their boss and I wasted a perfect beach day. On the third, everyone tried to kill me after I accepted the challenge for the phone calls and to top it off I had to go on a date with Tairee"
Makoto noticed she was still holding Rex's hand and apologized for doing so, while trying to move the conversation to the method of transportation they would use
"I think I've had enough of flying for a while. I can walk"
Walking along with the up to then slient Cole and the annoyed Sans, Reinhardt only explained to the ex-spirit, "Right now I have a duty to show that not all knights are cut from the same cloth Cole because I won't let a few bad apples ruin the good symbols of justice for someone so young," and then he held his hand out to the boy again.
As for the magic skeleton, the knight would tell him, "Sounds like the boy has his eyes set on a mission and a important one at that, ja?"

"Twelve labours? What are you on about?" Herc replied confused at what Jack had just said. Now Hercules had gone through many ordeals in his life, dealing with the Hydra, different kinds of monsters big and small even dealing with the god of the Underworld: Hades. But he never had done anything that was strenuously when it came to work more specifically twelve to be exact. What did he mean by twelve labours? As in like training? He was not sure how to respond to this.
He choose however to respond to the man's statement about the Librarian instead: "Well that's what Ben told me to do anyway.I'm quite sketchy on details of how this place works but from what I gather it doesn't look good from what I've been told." He then sheepishly pointed at the multiple Tairee's that were in the Library. "Is this…um…is this a normal thing around here?" He asked addressing Jack.
